[9.0] "One of my favorite tag team matches I've ever seen live, the crowd was incredibly behind the Acclaimed, and think that a win here would have blown the roof off the building, but man this match just showed off how incredible tag team wrestling can be. Very very well wrestled match, excellently done, and just a killer of a PPV bout"

[9.0] "This was a phenomenal tag match I just did not expect to be as good as it was. A match dictated by the crowd and how into The Acclaimed they were, forcing SOIG to work heel and they all slotted into their roles nicely. Bowens selling of his knee was superb and helped build the story of the match around that. Best nearfall ive seen in ages in the middle of this, and the only reason I havent given this full marks is that SOIG ultimately won. Perfect match otherwise."

[9.0] "**** 1/2. The match where the Acclaimed became made men, and the peak of the scissoring movement. Ive always been a big Acclaimed fan since I watched them grow as a team from day one together. Got to meet them not long after this match. This match is always fun to return to just to see how incredibly over they became. In hindsight, should an audible for a title change have been called? I say yes, although everything worked out in the end. The crowd was molten for an Acclaimed win, although it would have been overshadowed (like everything else on the show) by the unfortunate post-show nonsense."

This was one of the most enjoyable matches of 2022 and had an amazing ring work and drama. A very pleasant surprise - {****}"

[10.0] "I was here live for this match, holy hell the crowd was electric. The Acclaimed have to thank the guy who started the "Oh, scissor me daddy" chant as that got them over quick. In the blink of an eye I went from asking why the Acclaimed were even considered for this tag title match, to hoping an audible for the finish would be made, to being gutted when the match ended. All men had fantastic performances, especially Bowens. Caster had his best performance ever. There's a reason why Caster doing the AA made it onto Cena's IG. This is the most underrated match AEW match I can think of. Also SIOG did an incredible job switching into a heel role throughout the match. So many believable false finishes that didn't involve finisher spam, what more could you ask for? Also the dude who rated this match a 4 below me is an idiot lmao"

[4.0] "At this point, the acclaimed are much more of an entrance and a catch phrase than good tag team wrestlers. Lee and Swerve are fine as a team too, but this match is nothing more than a crowd carrying a bland tag match to its reputation. In the moment I'm sure this was great because crowds hadn't yet returned to this levels of vocality due to the pandemic, but in hindsight this is just generally poor to me. 2.25 Stars."

[7.0] "They started slow as they played it up for the hot crowd, but there wasn't any direction until Bowens 'injured' his knee. Swerve and Lee work on top and target the leg in a pretty unremarkable control segment. I thought Bowens' hot tag to Caster could've been better too. The match shifted into a different gear after that though. I thought Caster's performance was really good, probably the best performance of his career so far. I have to say the same for Bowens, because he sold his leg incredibly well. Lee's big man spots were good here as well, not as sloppy as he's been lately. Swerve was solid and I liked how he would always go back to leg of Bowens to stop his momentum The nearfalls popped the crowd, but I personally didn't believe any of them. The Swerve/Lee miscommunications were poorly done, and that's also one of the reasons this match didn't hit hard for me like it did for everyone else. ***3/4"

The match was nice enough, with a nice storytelling behind it, and some nice moves from the current champs. Maybe the in-person experiences excluded the emotion of enjoying the match watched by internet. Anyway, a satisfactory match. [***]"

The Acclaimed have done a wonderful job getting their act over and they've paid off that fan investment with a compelling title match that stole the show. Masterful work by all parties but especially Bowens, whose leg selling and resilience was the crux of the story. One of the best tag matches in the promotion's history."

TK too as he gave the acclaimed the title like a month later. So Chicago got what they wanted. Also being friends with the participants make sdave rate these things too high. I love dave (I keep saying this it seems) but I cant accept his rating when they are off by a full half star. This was a four star match."

I also love how Swerve immediately embraced the heel role in a battle of faces. Should they have called the audible? Maybe but it definitely leaves fans wanting more that's for sure. Bravo!"

Strickland and Lee was really good playing heel role and their opponents got the crowd behind them. The first 12-14 minutes was really solid, basic heel/face dynamic when the faces got worked over. The match then picked up with great dramas and near falls which woke up the fans. The actions in the last few minutes were so good. A true show stealer in my opinion."

[10.0] "The best breakout performance in AEW's deep history goes to The Acclaimed. After Hangman's rise to superstardom, their story is my favorite as well as most of the fans. Both men were put on the biggest stage at the biggest test of their career against a team that's been a standout among many makeshifts created by AEW for the richest prize they targeted since day one and what a stunning performance by the charismatic talents! Lee & Strickland were embracing the heel shade greatly & took it as a test for their future chances of embracing it again. The action was rock solid but the way the match grooved with the story is what made this one feel special for the fans who started to follow The Acclaimed from their scratch days. I'm super proud of the boys becoming megastars and Billy Gunn's assistance gave a new flavor making him relevant in this timeline. Many stated that an audible could've done wonders but this is the perfect foil for their story to culminate in an even bigger stage. 4.75 out of 5 stars!"

[8.0] "As others have said, a real surprise of a match. It was a little shaky to start and the crowd seemed to be more interested in making their own fun, but things came together towards the end. The Acclaimed still remind me of someone like Velveteen Dream, a guy who the internet loved because of his catch-phrases and gimmick but who was otherwise incredibly basic in the ring. I've got to admit, though, this was the best The Acclaimed have ever looked. Being basic isn't such an issue if you can tell a story in the ring and they held up on their end in this match."

[9.0] "The Acclaimed...have arrived. And boy have they arrived. A phenomenal match and I actually disagree with the sentiment that they should've called an audible. The match at Grand Slam is going to be straight fire and, the fact that this story gets to play out for an extra two weeks, means that Swerve in our Glory's story gets to continue. We get to fully establish that Swerve is a heel and Lee is a babyface, which is going to make The Acclaimed's title win mean more. Also Billy Gunn being the most over person in AEW in 2022 was not something I was expecting."
StoopKid1990 wrote on 11.09.2022:
"Tremendous match. The action was well-paced, the live crowd was completely invested, and all participants played their parts well. Bowens did an excellent job selling a knee injury, Caster's feat of strength towards the end of the match provided a memorable moment, and the crowd's response to Billy Gunn was a lot of fun. Lee and Swerve furthered their progression into heels while the Acclaimed proved they could be top-class faces. The end result and post-match events seemed to suck the life out of the live crowd for a bit, but it would have been hard to predict the crowd's attachment to the Acclaimed. A surprise MOTN contender and an obvious top-tier match in a somewhat underwhelming PPV. Definitely recommended."

[9.0] "Finally watched this one hell of a match! Tremendous from the very beginning, this has a great storytelling and an even better in-ring performance from all four wrestlers. The crowd booing Swerve In Our Glory just for the fact that they aren't The Acclaimed was amazing to watch, and both champions did a pretty good job on working the crowd and working on top of both their challengers. I really like how Anthony Bowens' screwed up knee comes out of nowhere and turns out to be a huge factor into this fabulous battle, and his selling was a certified G. Also, the finish was perfect, there was no better way to end this match than like that. Amazing. ****1/2"

Swerve in Our Glory worked as heels after a certain point was really good too and the audience went nuts after every moves made by Bowens and Caster. I liked every part of this match"

[10.0] "Everything about this match was great. The Acclaimed are not rising stars any more, but fully risen stars. I got totally invested in this match watching on TV, and it was clear the crowd in the arena did too. Swerve and Lee should be heels - they were great bullying Owens and Caster proved he's as good in the ring as he is on the mic! It was brilliant, and a rarity as it was a proper tag team wrestling in AEW that didn't involve FTR."
RubyLuvsYou wrote on 09.09.2022:
"Another incredible performance by the Acclaimed, who do nothing but impress. Either because of injuries or Tony Khans stop and go pushes, they continue to exceed everyone's expectations. Every big match The Acclaimed receive they show why they should be considered a top 5 tag team, and it's getting tired that people keep forgetting it. Anthony Bowens proved once again in this match, he has an unbelievable singles face run ahead of him in the future, probably something similar to Johnny Gargano in NXT. His selling, his limb work, his ability to capture the crowds emotions wherever he goes, given another 5+ years I'd believe it if Bowens was considered a top 50 wrestler in the world. Max Caster as well proves he can be every bit of goofy and raunchy outside and inside the ring, but when it matters, he turns into a machine laser focused on giving the performance of his life. Besides the Acclaimed, the story of Lee and Swerve was moved along beautifully in this match and I cannot wait for the inevitable conclusion, leading into a main event Swerve heel run, because just the little bit we saw in this match was just great. This match is every bit as good as everyone says. I can't rate yet, but it's a 10 in my book."

[10.0] "An incredible, incredible match. The crowd was on fire for this match, honestly this might be favourite wrestling crowd in 2022. The acclaimed were so over it was ridiculous, even more so like established talent like Keith Lee and Swerve. The match started off with a feeling out process and the crowd having fun with chants and going crazy over the "scissoring". I was honestly just expecting this to be a fun little match to pad out the card and didn't have any expectations for this. The crowd were so invested in this match, they reacted to everything and the few times you audibly hear a crowd cheer when there was a two count. The crowd was firmly behind the acclaimed and they had some great moments and played the underdogs so well in this match. Lee and Swerve went heel at times and targeted an already weakened Bowens who did a fantastic job at selling and making it believable. The match itself flowed great, it didn't feel like they were setting up for the next spot and there were a few slips but it made it feel more genuine. The false count the acclaimed got when they hit their finish was insane, the crowd popped like crazy but became deflated and vocal when the finish of the match became more obvious. I do believe the acclaimed should have won in this match and I really hope this wasn't a one off and the acclaimed are able to maintain this momentum. Hopefully not becoming another Starks & Hobbs type tag team. In terms of storytelling and entertainment value this is probably my favourite tag match of 2022."

[10.0] "One of the best matches in company history. With little build, both teams told the full story in the ring, and what a story it was - initial comedy gradually transitioned into gripping drama and one of the most earnest babyface performances I've ever seen on a major stage. The Acclaimed, and Bowens in particular, were goddamn phenomenal, playing into the crowd perfectly and alternating seamlessly between getting beaten down and pitch-perfect comeback spots. Props to Swerve In Our Glory are fully deserved as well - they pivoted to heels very easily, completely changing their normal wrestling style to wring maximum drama out of the match."

Insane overness for The Acclaimed (and Daddy Ass) that Swerve & Lee had to work as heels. That was a bit of a surprise to witness Lee being a heel, he cannot be. Swerve was a great jerk in the mix, taunting his opponents like a vicious bitch. The action took a bit to cool, but once Bowens started to sell his knee, that was something. The atmosphere, the nearfalls and the insane action : surely the show-stealer. Bowens is such a great worker, same for Caster. Most of people didn't expected this one to be that crazy. A clear definition of what kind of emotions pro wrestling is giving us."

It goes without saying that the crowd really made this match due to how electric they were and I don't think the match would have worked nearly as well if there was no reaction/ a lack of heat but thankfully that wasn't the case because the Acclaimed are absolutely amazing in terms of character work and playing of the story of Bowens injured knee which really gave the crowd something to be even more invested in as SIOG worked as the heels which was an absolutely brilliant idea. Everytime SIOG worked on Bowens leg and the crowd booed mercilessly I got giddy due to how it should how amazing they played their role"

[10.0] "This has got to be considered the surprise smash hit of the show, if not the entire year. This is a match I figured would be fine but considering the sparse build and Acclaimed's status as a semi-comedy midcard act in the past, I didn't give it a huge amount of thought. In fact for a long time I actively disliked the Acclaimed, but I'm happy to say after a lot of improvement on their part they have very much won me over lately. But I don't see any way to deny that after this match they are fully legitimized as one of AEW's top teams. Full credit to the work both guys did, especially Bowens seemed to really be swinging for the fences, but what pushed it over the top was the absolutely electric crowd. This Chicago crowd loved the Acclaimed more than they loved Punk, my god! Lee and Strickland did a brilliant job as well, you can't look at this match without acknowledging that they have been great in their unexpected role as tag champs even as this match continued to show possible cracks in their partnership. In the end this was my 2nd favorite match of the night, narrowly behind the bloody main event. I've seen more than a few people say AEW should have called an audible and switched the titles and, while the logistics of that might be too daunting, I can understand the feeling. If the Acclaimed do not win the belts on a rematch, I'll be quite surprised."
