Ortiz & Ruby Soho vs. Sammy Guevara & Tay Melo

[5.0] "Interesting mixed tag team match, that was ok to watch, fine opener for the zero hour. They should do it those kind of matches more often - {**1/4}"

[5.0] "I suppose its an adequate match to start the undercard show. Nothing spectacular, maybe some nice interactions between teams, but nothing really special to remark. [**1/2]"

[6.0] "I liked this a little more than most, but it wasn't great. The best part of this, for me, was Melo hitting Ortiz with a Canadian Destroyer. Other than that, just about everything else was just solid. Soho really got put through it here when she not only landed on her head, but also got her nose broken by Melo. That's probably what this match will be remember for most, unfortunately."

[6.0] "There are some things you could nitpick about this match, like Tay looking awkward a few times, but overall this was pretty good. Of course from a smark perspective you won't like it, but as a grudge match this worked because it felt real. The somewhat dangerous spots do play a part in that, but aside from the broken nose ask yourself if this is any different from what you usually see in a AEW hardcore match, or even a Japanese match. People get dropped on their head, and I got into it here. The personalities of Sammy and Tay definitely added something and the intensity was there to make it feel like more than your usual AEW stipulation match. **3/4"

[2.0] "This sucked. Even ignoring the fact Sammy got run over by a damn golf cart and then the ref still just casually rang the bell when he entered the ring (really taking that concept to the next level there), barely even selling it, this match was hell for Ruby Soho. Nearly had her neck snapped then seemingly got her nose broken. While some of the action outside of this was fine, I'd struggle to give a passing grade to something that was as sloppy and dangerous as this."

[5.0] "I have to appreciate the efforts took by all stars by having a couple of matches to find the groove and show all out here. From the start, the craziness was visible, and all the stars handled the tempo nicely with cool moves. Soho is the one again who took nasty bumps and left injured. I'm saddened to see her state right now as a year ago, she felt like a dark horse candidate for the women's title but she's an afterthought as expected. As said by most, the grass will not be greener on the other side for everyone, but she can still rehash to her old place under the new regime if possible. That's all I could hope for in order to see her replenish from the messy booking. 2.5 out of 5 stars!"

[7.0] "In intergender matches in Japan and Mexico, the women just get in there and take their lumps like the guys. It's maybe a bit silly to put them on equal footing with the guys but generally there's not so much "empowerment" nonsense where the women have to be depicted as superhuman and always the best fighters in the match. Unfortunately that trope is present in most American intergender matches and it was present here. Having said that, I thought this turned out to be accidently good. It's a grudge match with people getting dropped on their heads and maybe their noses broken. If you look at it from a smark perspective as though wrestling should be a flawless performance, yeah, there are holes in it. But as something real - at least enough to blur the lines a little - this was pretty entertaining. It was short and violent, which is how grudge matches should look."

[3.0] "And that's kids, how to put on a car crash. That's a fucking miracle that Soho is still alive after a bad landing on her neck and had her nose broken. At least, Guevera being run over by the golf car was funny to watch. A non-sense spotfest. More interactions betweens both genders, but that wasn't on a good purpose."

[7.0] "I thought that match was a bit short, and Anna Jay should've probably not been involved his match. It had some good spots, and was entertaining for what it was. 7/10"

[0.0] "Ruby Soho needs to start living up to her moniker and run away from AEW. First she's booked like shit, losing mixed tag matches on pre shows, and then there's the issue of Sammy Guevara and Tay Conti trying to KILL HER. Dropping her on her head, ass, and nose just in this match alone. The grass isn't always greener on the other side Ruby. Please for the love of god RUN. [DUD]"

[5.0] "An average match, had some fun moments like sammy getting hit by the car and the superplex to the outside. Unfortunately the JAS cheating with the number advantage has gotten stale and the ending looked like Ruby got her nose busted knocked this down to a five. The JAS need something new because this storyline is getting old. Ortiz had the worst gear I've ever seen. Should have atleast tried to get matching gear with Ruby."

[4.0] "I have no idea why we needed to see these four have the same match for the third week in a row. Sammy getting hit by the cart at the beginning was a little fun at least."

[4.0] "This match was not taken seriously and was a time killer in my eyes to get Sammy on the show and to show of AAA's mixed tag title. Didn't do anything for anyone and actively hurt Ruby Soho. **"

[4.0] "Tough. On one hand, I loved the tributes to Aja Kong and Bull Nakano by Ortiz and Ruby Soho. I also thought there were several great spots in this match that I have to applaud. The carelessness to drop Soho directly on her neck was difficult to watch, however, especially as the wrestlers and referee all neglected to check on her. I usually try not to get into conversations like this, as the professionals know more about what they're doing than I ever will, but oof. An injury, a near catastrophe, and a loosely structured story bring this down for me. 4 out of 10."

[5.0] "Don't know why a third match so soon was necessary, and also on the PPV. It was too much and I honestly lost focus during parts of the match. Not a terrible match when viewed alone, but it's hard to divorce this one from the previous 2. Ortiz gets the award for ugliest ring gear of the night. Also, Ruby now has a broken nose *sigh*"

[6.0] "Hah, once again we were reminded that Guevara likes to get under the wheels of cars and he successfully got under it. In general, it's fun and crazy. That's what a hungry viewer needs. Ortiz looked interesting, just like a holiday. There were a lot of awkward moments, especially for Ruby, who broke her nose and almost broke her neck. I hope their confrontation will end, otherwise it seems to me they have nothing to offer the viewer."

"Poor Ruby. Sam & Tay need to eat pins for the next year and learn how to not injure their opponents. Sam & Tay are go away heat where the damage they do outweighs any positive for AEW."

[3.0] "I hope they stop booking these type of matches, please stop. Every one of'em was bad, so please.... Not this match anymore."

[5.0] "Boring average match for me, nothing much offered from anyone, just a typical mixed match, *** stars from me, 5/10"

[5.0] "Bang average match that didn't have to be on the PPV. Ruby can't seem to catch a break as it looks like she broke her nose at the ending of the match."

[6.0] "Ortiz's choice of ring attire was interesting to say the least. Couple of cool spots in the match, especially the superplex to the outside of the ring."

[5.0] "A lot of big tag team spots, but pretty much nothing else of note happened-- the same story as the other two matches they've had. Ruby went gnarly mode and died a couple of times."

[5.0] "No better than any of their other tags. Tay was still the best part of these and still feels held back by being in JAS. **1/4"

[2.0] "This match alone isn't that bad, but when you consider we've seen it 3 times in the past 9 days and is part of a 15 match card, it's inexcusable."

[3.0] "This was the third time this match up has been done in just a couple of weeks and it's not appealing at this point. This is a meaningless feud to give Sammy something to do when the Kingston program fell apart."

[9.0] "Very very good example of how mixed gender wrestling should work. Gets an extra point from me for the Aja Kong and bull nakano makeups cause those ruled extra hard"

[8.0] "Consider me sports entertained. Tay is great when she's able to do her thing, and the talent of Sammy Guevara and Ortiz is well known. The fact that was a lot of male-female action was also very cool, as it was its explosive start. My only complaint is the fact that Sammy and Tay were using street clothes seconds before the supposed start of their match."

[7.0] "Very fun! Tay and Sammy have amazing chemistry obviously, and they have leaned into the heel heat that their relationship has caused excellently. Not sure why they ran this match back immediately but I had a fun time."

[4.0] "Hopefully that's the end of this series of matches, and the end of the badly booked not-really-intergender matches. There were some decent spots but it was nothing special, and loses a point or two for Tay's carelessness injuring Ruby."

[5.0] "I hope that Ruby is ok. She immediately clutched her face & nose after the TayKO, and kept doing so, instead of lying flat on her back. That is never a good sign."

[4.0] "It was a fine brawl but that Ruby/Sammy/Tay spot pissed me off and disgusts me an hour later. The makeup on Ruby & Ortiz was a nice tribute though."

[5.0] "Their best match, but I just don't give a f#ck about this match and feud, let's hope this is over and that Ruby didn't get injury with TayKO"

[5.0] "A waste of time, they shouldn't have put this fight for the Zero Hour, totally irrelevant and not that big of a deal."

[5.0] "Thought this was an occassionally fun brawl, but it was also sloppily executed in many spots. Only okay."

[6.0] "Ruby Soho tried to end her wrestling career in just over 7 minutes. She took some real crazy spots. Honestly this match was a lot better than expecting and it had a unique dynamic that felt good."

[7.0] "Some parts were sloppy but I overall enjoyed this one for what it was. I? m not gonna take away point for repetition as luckily I? ve not seen their previous two matches. This was just a nice and chaotic way to start zero hour which I mostly enjoyed."
