721.08.2023CoolKyle6.0I do get the criticism of the long mat work by Hideki but this is what I tune in to NOAH for. For my money the best technique has always been seen in NOAH whether it's the striking, or the intense wrestling on display here. While Suzuki should get his credit, Kaito was no slouch either. As seen in his amazing matches with Yoshinari Ogawa. Kaito can wrestle very well on the match, It's just like alot of capable wrestlers, none of his work plays into the finish. At no point in time did I feel like they were dragging but I still feel like Hideki could've found a better way to milk that apron bump. They didn't really need to go outside and the match would've been fine had they stayed in the ring throughout the entirety of the match. Other than that, the reason that even with all the praise, it gets 6 because of the underwhelming finish. Those shining wizard did not look good. Sorry.

920.02.2023ArshamB8.0My main criticism of this match is that the long stretch of mat work didn't particularly lead to anything later down the match, although you could argue that it kind of proved that Kiyomiya is just as capable as "the best grappler" in the company. Otherwise, great match and Kiyomiya is the best thing going in NOAH, excited to see more from him in the future.

1931.10.2022PavelDragunov7.0Not my favorite of the tournament and it turned out to be an extremely inexpressive sight for the final. The fighters fought on the mats too much and in general it did not lead to anything. Psychology has not developed from this and will not be able to influence it in the future. Kaito Kiyomiya tried in every possible way to use his main qualities - charisma, youth and dramatic acceptance of all damage in a realistic style. Of course Hideki Suzuki did not jump over his head and just showed himself a standard match where Double Arm Suplex was the main technique that he tried to hold the whole match. I expected a lot more and I didn't get even half of the expectations. A match on a normal tournament day would have been able to stand out, but not at the finals. The winner is good!

3413.09.2022Wright159.0This was great in terms of work rate, but it was not without its flaws. Hideki Suzuki is a good technical wrestler, but he too often resorts to long rest holds instead of shoot-style grappling. This was the case here, as super compelling mat work alternated with boring rest holds for minutes at a time. The finishing sequence was really good, although I'm not sure that Kiyomiya replicating Mutoh to win is a good idea long-term. ****1/4
3512.09.2022dizzle779.0Great final match. Fantastic grappling at the start--which was to be expected. But it also did a fine job building suspense (or at least the illusion of suspense) towards the finish. Well paced back and forth action. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, that Kiyomiya is one one the best pure babyfaces working right now. Seeing him working a come back is a wonderful thing. This was my first N1 Victory, and this served as a pretty famous good capper to the tournament.

4408.09.2022BUIOOMEGA9.0The match is super cool and a proper main event/final for the tournament. The mat wrestling skills of Suzuki haven't give the great spots to the bout but I am perfectly fine with that.
4508.09.2022NoSell9.0The first 10 minutes were absolutely nothing. I appreciate grappling even if it's not my favorite style but that was just reversing headlocks and ringing the arm while standing around. Thankfully after that, the grappling actually got good, with Hideki's work on Kaito's arm and Kaito's constant headlock takeover reversals. It then got more dramatic as it went on with some big strikes and signature moves from both (that backdrop on the apron from Suzuki was so nasty) the last 10 minutes are phenomenal and the winner is absolutely the correct one too. ****1/4

5106.09.2022Lakhiarfarhad919.0This was such a great match. The first 15 minutes tells the narrative of Kaito matching Hideki and even getting the better of him on the mat. Hideki get the control and brutally targets Kaito's back with his back breakers, suplexes, squeezing his mid section with the legs and hitting vicious elbows on his backs. Kaito put on a great selling performance and made great comebacks and did Mutoh inspired offense on Hideki who told him to stop simping for Keiji Mutoh prior to this match. The whole finishing stretch was amazing. Both workers put on great performances. 8.50/10

5306.09.2022ChadBroder8.0This match started so slow it honestly had me worried. When Suzuki took control at times the match got incredibly boring. Kiyomiya really is a workhorse and it speaks to that that every time he started to gain control the match got much more interesting. The ending stretch of the match was some of the best wrestling from the whole weekend and I can't wait to see what happens from here with NOAH. ****

5505.09.2022boymeetsworld6.0Personally, I find this match hard to rate - both Suzuki (I was genuinely surprised how good Suzuki was in majority of his N-1 matches and this final) and Kiyomiya worked very hard, had a very good match, but then Kiyomiya decided to channel inner fucking Keiji Muto to turn things around and won shortly after that. Once again, just like in their match in Budokan, this win wasn't about Kiyomiya elevating himself to the next level and finding a new gear that would make him a bigger deal, it was about showing what an influential/inspirational/iconic figure Keiji Muto is. Muto's retirement match has to be against Kiyomiya for GHC Heavyweight title, and he has to retire as the champion, just because that would be hilarious.

5705.09.2022Golden Lover9.02022 - Did not feel as long as it was. Lots of grappling and very different from what I thought it might be. Terrific near falls at the end and a big fan of the result. Kiyomiya has some of the best fire in all of wrestling right now. Tremendous. ****1/2

6404.09.2022SpikeWithGlasses9.0Amazing match, one of the best of the year, best of the tournament, started with 20 great minutes of technical wrestling, I understand that if you don't like technical wrestling, unless it's ZSJ's flashy technical spot monkey style, you might not like this, but I loved it, I think that we need to break those first 20 minutes of mat wrestling, the first 10 was the feeling out part, it's Hideki's style, but Kaito kept up nicely, got the upperhand a couple times, it was the introduction to the match, the next 10, was when the damage was happening, Hideki dominated this part of the match more, working Kaito's torso, Kaito had some small comebacks, but it was still dominated by Hideki. there were some pro wrestling style moments in the first 20 minutes, mostly Kaito's comebacks, but the next 13 were when it started to take over, good suplexes from Hideki, as well as Kaito's, great strikes, the moves outside were good too, the last couple minutes were amazing. Interesting to see how Kaito vs Kenoh goes, I expected Hideki to win so he loses to Kenoh and doesn't go 0 deffenses (would be 3rd reign in a row), now that Kaito wins I'm not sure if he's winning.

7203.09.2022doesntmatter8.0Suzuki had a wedgie for most of the match that helped entertain me through the first 20 minutes of slog. Thank god for Kiyomiya (and the wedgie), who spices up the bore that is a Hideki Suzuki match-- the indulgence into "catch-as-catch-can" is boring when it doesn't deliver anything meaningful for the rest of the match. The match gets so much better once they start striking each other-- including some work on the midsection by Suzuki that actually made sense after he elbowed Kiyomiya's back. The fact that I still consider this a good match is more an indication of Kaito's talent than anything else-- he carries this match. The emotion, the selling, the moves-- everything that works here is because of him. A near-complete carry job the whole way through and the right result.
7303.09.2022seriousbusiness8.0The first half of this match had dull technical wrestling as expected. When the match finally got going these two showed some rather shocking chemistry. Kaito's performance was amazing, and I'll even give Hideki some credit for taking more bumps than usual and even putting over the younger dude.
7503.09.2022Wuzong Shen9.0It was a pity that the first 20 minutes of this match was so protracted and repeated that was boring to watch. If it was only for 10 minutes maybe we can still call it "good technical wrestling and grappling", but 20 minutes was just too long anyway. The match was mainly following the pace of Suzuki and it was clear that he wasn't so willing to cooperate with Kiyomiya. However, after the match got back on the track, it was still solid and exciting to watch. I felt really happy for Kiyomiya, even though he gets few chances to win the title match against Kenoh, there is still a bright future for him
7603.09.2022CFOS10.0NOAH N-1 Victory 2022 : There was like 20mins of awesome technical wrestling and grappling. I loved when Kaito had the upper hand on Hideki on the technical sequences, it was like when Kaito countered all the dragon screw of Mutoh in the match with Mutoh, he beat Hideki at his own game at some point. But wehn Hideki got the upper hand, it was so good. It was just beautiful CACC wrestling. The rest of the match was amazing too with the strikes, the comebacks of Kaito like with the suplex and the dropkick at the outside. Hideki also did a violent backbreaker on the apron and i thought Kaito got something broken. The last minutes of the match are insane, Hideki got Kaito in a submission where Kaito couldn't do anything and i was so much behind Hideki at this point because i thought Kaito was about the lose, but he cameback. The near falls were insane too on the tiger suplex of Kaito or the butterfly suplex of Hideki. When the finish came out, i was so sad that my fav lost, but happy after all, because they gave us an amazing final. (****1/2)
