12.09.2022 | boymeetsworld | 6.0 | Based on the post-match promo this win supposed to be a big milestone in Kamitani's career, but again she struggled to keep up throughout the match (let alone struggled to look like a star, like a champion with 8 (EIGHT) successful title defenses) and made it feel like Watanabe was in the second gear for an entire match in order to keep things smooth. Kamitani's new catchphrase that "I don't care that anybody says, but I am STARDOM' is laughable on many levels, but it really represents current STARDOM - Kamitani didn't believe in what she said for a moment, and STARDOM as a promotion doesn't really give a fuck about giving fans reasons to say that whoever they want to push are actually the real deal, they're gonna tell it to you until you either quit actively following the promotion (like I did) or accept it because you can't do much about it. Momo is a pro and she did a very good job here, so I can't rate this match lower than 6.
10.09.2022 | jboyaquar | 6.0 | Sometimes one just knows when it's not one's choice's time. Saya's getting pushed real hard as a dominating 'White Belt' champ, may challenge Momo's record-breaking run, and will soon face the biggest name currently working for Stardom. Momo's been pushed a good deal this year be-it via a feud w/ AZM, holding both the Goddess & Artist belts, etc, but as a singles player in the 5*, she reached her peak last year, and there's no-chance a cheating heel, a bit-of-a-joke, like herself will return. But she was still allowed to be booked as a conscientious competitor, knowing how to disrupt her opponent's mobility-moveset. But soon it would crumble, yet from me nary a grumble. 3 1/4

The whole story of Momo knowing Saya's ways so well she knows how to counter her usual offense was really well done. These two also have the ring skill to back it up, obviously, delivering a great back and forth match. Just pretty great really! |

10.08.2022 | inauric | 8.0 | MOTN for me and the only must see match from the card. I've written previously about Saya being best when she works on top but she actually worked really well from under here selling Momo's heel work. A lot of chemistry and convoluted exchanges including a creative ref bump through dragging his leg through. Momo may be having a rough start to the tournament but the match quality is top notch.
10.08.2022 | aguakun | 8.0 | A great de facto prelude to Saya Kamitani/KAIRI, with Kamitani facing the most-won white belt champion Momo Watanabe in route to a legendary wrestler who embodies the belt. It was also an opportunity to show Kamitani's growth against her debut opponent. The match featured a fast-paced style, with big moves coming earlier than expected and creative improvisations and counters. Even though this was only the second match between them, there was a sense of familiarity in the wrestling perhaps owed to their time as stablemates. The chemistry between the two left no room for error. ****
10.08.2022 | NoSell | 8.0 | I thought this was GREAT and the best match on the show. Momo bullied Saya for a bit and I loved the start with her stopping the flips by just kicking Saya. Saya's comebacks are always great and the finish was lovely. Ref bump was actually well done and not super contrived and complicated. Worked well. Also, not sure if this is intentional but Momo has lost her two matches right after trying to use the wrench. ****
10.08.2022 | CFOS | 6.0 | Stardom 5STAR Grand Prix 2022 : The heel work of Momo was interesting, it wasn't boring which is great. Saya worked as the underdog, her comebacks were good. The counters were also good especially when Saya countered the backdrop of Momo on the top rope. Good stuff. (***1/4)
10.08.2022 | Suzukigun | 7.0 | The match was really good but I really wanted Momo to win. Her only singles title run ended over three years ago, and a win over Saya would've led to her getting a shot at the title that made her a big name, against a woman who is in the same faction she used to lead before betraying. The seeds for a potential title match were right there, and the key to ignite it would have been a win for Momo in this match. Instead, we got a really good 12 minute match with Saya winning and Momo falling to 0-2 to start her tournament. The match was good but had the potential to be special, and the result was a bummer because of how big a deal the alternate could have been.
