[10.0] "Probably the best match I ever saw coming from CMLL. It was completely insane, Soberano Jr and Templario basically didn't miss anything. Everything was so well executed and well planned, making this match a lot of fun and enjoyable for me, who particularly enjoys high risks and insane spots. The rating here is very low to be honest, cagematch have a serious issue when it comes to give some value for lucha libre, the rating is always lower than it was to be, but I hope that this partnership with AEW will bring some new viewers and more credit to them. Both wrestlers were completely insane, and honestly, there's not much more I can talk or say to praise this match, this is a FUCKING five stars match for me. Defition in the dictionary for flawless."
[10.0] "[4.75*] Incredible match and the best one I have seen from CMLL. Actually, I am this close from giving it 5* and I may change it in the future. All the moves were done with perfection, the arc of the salt, the landing, the mechanics, not a single botch or miscommunication, this was near perfect. The only point missing a little bit was the selling of the back, but as lucha libre and pro wrestling are two different things with different aspects, I may discount this mistake and give it the 4.75* some day (OBS: I just did it! ). Bravo!"
[8.0] "Fantastic match, this one was very special, it's an incredibly enjoyable experience from the beginning until the end, the crowd was on fire. This was the final of the Leyenda de Plata tournament, so it's a big match, and everyone at Arena México was invested. Both wrestlers fought hard to win, and tried to damage the other all the time, it's impossible not to notice it's a big match with a lot at stake. Templario won and the atmosphere exploded. So enjoyable this one, easy-watch - {***3/4}"
[9.0] "[4.75*] Incredible, they cook, this is one of the first "lucha libre" matches that I can really say, I really liked it. They did dives, false finishes, beautiful jumps and it didn't even look like Cirque du Soleil. That Handsoring Destroyer and the synergy between the two made it rain in this match. Very good indeed"
[10.0] "Probably the best CMLL match of the year so far, and the bes match between these two. Even though they tried to copy the BOSJ big match style, even working by the left side at the toma de réferi instead of the right, it still felt pretty authentic, a lot of big moves and big bumps. Watching it live was awesome, the absolute best crowd I have experience, people were stomping the ground and yelling of excitement after every false final. 4.5"
[10.0] "That's why there is no people able to dislike a good pure mexican 1vs1 Lucha Libre match. Two guys showed theyr athleticism and even they put theyr necks in the line with various Canadian Destroyers and Damian Drivers. Just a flawless and incredible display of this guys'abilities. *****"
[9.0] "When the fans are throwing coins, the bout had to be great. Soberano Jr. and Templario went all out and tored the house down. Exciting and spectacular lucha shit where both luchadores took some very dangerous risks through pretty creative spots and sequences. That maybe lacked of some lucha stuff on the mat, you know, but they threw some brutal moves to each other, either on the apron or on the barriers. Of course that was smooth, some very sweet transitions and counters put in the mix. If I had their cardio... man, they said fuck to this shit and destroyed the living shit out of each other during 20 minutes straight. Nah, that was completely crazy."
[7.0] "I wanted to like this a lot more than I do. It's very brutal don't get me wrong, they do a lot of awesome spots on the outside but I couldn't vibe with it because the end felt like a damn NXT Takeover main event with no selling and repeating finishers."
[10.0] "Just enjoy a crazy Lucha match. This was brutal and yet didn't fall prey to the all too standard epic of epic matches. CMLL delivers a classic."
[7.0] "Pretty good match as far as lucha goes, though definitely nothing too special in the grand scheme of things. This was obviously just a series of big spots one after the other. Their technique always ranged from good to great, but they didn't have the proper structure to make the match as engaging and exciting as it could have been like if they didn't just go for big moves, acrobatic stunts, and near falls one after the other. I'll at least say that this match being single-fall instead of 2/3 falls was much better because it allowed for far more drama throughout the match, instead of us simply waiting until both men were tied 1-to-1 on falls so that the "real" match could properly begin. They had some nicely creative spots as the match went on, and they did well to rally the crowd up with how genuinely competitive and intense the atmosphere was. It was unfortunately still just following the "big move -> kick-out -> big move -> kick-out" structure, but their technique remained really good all throughout, and even if their selling of exhaustion/pain wasn't the best (in fact it was pretty damn bad at times), they at least both did really well selling their real-time shock at being unable to put each other away, adding further drama as they both attempted to get the win. It's a shame that such athletically talented guys have their potential untapped by working such generic lucha-style matches, but they still managed to impress quite a bit here with just how flawless all their stunts were. ***1/4"
[9.0] "definition of a chess match in wrestling. both competitors countered both with reversal or other manouvres but at the end one mistake did a couple of times in the match costed the victory"
[10.0] "It's been quite a while since I saw a CMLL match myself, not since Bandido vs. Volador more than a year ago I think, but I was eager to check this one out when I saw it had a lot of positive buzz. And it truly did not disappoint! A fantastic pure lucha match here, with just about everything I could hope to see. Fast paced, high flying, some tremendous spots and best of all a phenomenal sense of energy from the crowd, they were losing their minds going in hard for their boy Soberano. Just a deeply exciting match, the second best I have seen from Mexico this year and in my top 40 overall."
[9.0] "In what may be the top rivalry going in CMLL (along with Atlantis Jr. and Stuka Jr.), Soberano Jr. and Templario put the pedal to the metal in a blistering encounter with bomb after bomb being exchanged to a chorus of NOISY fans. This was a total reinvention of their last singles match with a lot less fluff and a lot more stuff. It's a shame that these two almost certainly won't get the main event spotlight for the Aniversario show-- they would put on the best match without a doubt."
[7.0] "Meh. Granted I'm not super huge on unadulterated lucha, but I found this pretty mediocre as a match all things considered. Not much psychology, but plenty o' flips."
[9.0] "The final of the tournament is here. The match starts with a few intense lockups between the two rivals before Soberano effortlessly reverses a toss up in the air to hit a hurricanrana. Soberano tried for a springboard dive from the corner but crashed and burned onto the barricade after Templario moved. However Templario didn't miss his tope to the outside. Soberano hits a DDT on the apron to switch the momentum and then hits a fabulous running moonsault over the top rope. Soberano continues his dominance when he catches Templario in the middle of the air to hit a powerbomb on the floor, though Templario would have spells of offence himself. The crowd was behind Templario and Soberano channelled that in his performance in a way that was still true to his tecnico ways but also got the crowd to cheer for Templario more. The match had a tremendous competitive feel, with the action going back and forth, while having some spectacular counters without numbing you to them. Templario launched Soberano into the air for a backdrop on the ramp way and then threw Soberano off the ramp onto the floor, after sidestepping the attempted move. Soberano looked incredible. I adored his running destroyers over the top rope. And never looked anything but great. And despite the crowd pleasing nature of the match, the nearfalls were great for creating drama and getting the crowd to rock. Soberano had a great front piledriver (think Owen Hart to Austin) nearfall and Templario had an even better one after a powerbomb onto the knees. Templario hit both the same piledriver and then one more powerbomb to the knees to become the winner of the 2022 Leyanda de Plata. A great, great match. It's unfortunate that Templario is now injured so they won't get their chance to have an apuesta at the Anniversario but it's possible that they weren't having one anyway. They deserved every bit of money that was thrown in the ring. ****1/4"
[10.0] "An unbelievable atmosphere that both competitors fully take advantage of through a war of attrition. These two men set out to destroy each other and they succeeded in doing so."
[9.0] "This was just a killer match - both wrestlers did everything they could in order to win the tournament and the crowd was INTO IT, especially by the end. There was a feeling about this match like they wanted to make a statement with it, a message to the world or something like that. It says a lot about how overlooked/off the radar CMLL is for CAGEMATCH users - it's a shame that this match has so few comments/ratings/reviews because it's absolutely worth your time."
[10.0] "That's a hell of a match in front of hell of a crowd. Both guys did an amazing job, beating each other up in and out of the ring. Awesome stuff."
[10.0] "I understand how insanely long the history of CMLL is, and I know there are probably some really great matches from decades prior that I am yet to see. That said, this is the best CMLL match I have ever seen. It had everything you could ever ask for in lucha libre: fantastic high flying, unreal athleticism, insane stamina, unabated creativity, incredible drama, brilliant psychology, and perhaps the most molten hot crowd in recent memory from anywhere around the world. These fans cheered as if it were early 1990s lucha libre again. And they stomped their feet like they were watching Kobashi vs Misawa in the Budokan. For minutes after this was over, they kept throwing more and more money until the announcer had to ask them to stop. Soberano Jr and Templario are now gearing up for an Apuestas match, and I can scarcely imagine how deafening it will be in Arena Mexico when that happens. *****"
