The Rock vs. Val Venis

[6.0] "Solid match. Rock is great and plays his part well in the context of the story. Venis is not really great but this is probably one of his better singles performances. Plenty of era appropriate goo-gah as well."

[8.0] "Rock and Val Venis already had a really good match on SmackDown a year before this back when Venis was feuding with Mankind and they had an even better match here. It was just really well set up with Angle manipulating this entire situation and with Rock completely off his game after Raw, Venis looked really good and he uses every trick in the book with Steven Richards also getting heavily involved. It got the crowd heavily involved because of the multiple upset teases they desperately didn't want to happen and naturally it felt satisfying when The Rock finally does make his comeback and get the People's Elbow it's hugely satisfying because of how well he sells all of Val's offense. Kurt then attacks Rock with the help of Stephanie and he looks a much bigger threat with her as his manager."

[8.0] "This was a brilliantly executed match. They were able to make the basic "milk the crowd spots" like raising the arm during a chinlock and the double-clothesline followed by a 10 count exciting. Stevie Richards is also great at ringside with his perfectly timed interferences. The near falls at the end are very well done and the pop for the People's Elbow when it finally comes is incredible."
