Lita being FU'd again was fun and then Edge retaining via cheating behind the ref's back was a smart finish for his character. They paced the match well and it was, while nothing amazing, a good match overall."

Once Cena starts making his comeback, the match starts to pick up, and this is also where the stip comes into play more with lita getting involved in this a lot more. The finish was executed really well, and I thought JR's call of selling the finish was also great **3/4"

The stip is Edge can't get DQ'd or he'll lose the title, which could be fun to play with but they downplay it which i feel is the right call, however, they make Lita look dumb to change momentum one time.. I do enjoy the finish."

[6.0] "It starts a little bit basic, but the match really turns up the heat and becomes an incredibly energetic and well performed match with some great near falls. Edge selling his desperation to not get DQ'd worked really well for his character. If not for the finish, I'd have given it 7 points. You have so much rapid fire interference from Lita. The last of which, she just kind of jumps into an FU. Edge wins with dirty tactics despite all the character work before it. He really, really should have won this clean to set up the rematch better, but I guess maybe because it was Cena's hometown, they didn't want to do that. An excellent match with a pretty flat finish that weighs it down significantly."

It was interesting to see how much of the crowd was pro Edge considering this event was held in Boston but both guys had good outings and put on a good showing for the crowd. 3 stars."

The mixed reaction from the fans was great to hear and they were really involved because of it, plus the action was fast and had very exciting final minutes."

[6.0] "Not the best match these two have had, and given it was the main event of the second biggest show of the year I thought this felt a little underwhelming. Feels like it's just starting to pick up when Edge pulls out the brass knuckles to get the 3. Was supposed to get the crowd angry, given it was Cena's hometown, but the crowd was a little too split to make this work the way they intended."

[6.0] "Good match, you wouldn't be too disappointed with this capping off a big PPV, but one that takes a bit to get going and is rather formulaic. The finish was executed a little awkwardly too, though brass knuckles to the back of the head is pretty nasty. ***"

[7.0] "While this was not a great match by any means, it was quick and got the job done. It was slow-going for a little while but when Cena made his comeback, it started to get actually pretty dang good. Plus, there was no ref bump (one of the worst overused tropes from this era). The fact that this was only 15 minutes really helped it and it was effective at doing what it was supposed to do (keeping the title on Edge, while keeping Cena strong and continuing the feud)."

Makai Club wrote on 28.05.2018:
[3.0] "Okay main event. The DQ stipulation never came inot the match until the near end so they were going through the motions of Edge beating Cena with dull and boring work. Then when the stip was introduce, the match picked up. Cena did his comebacks which weren't great but brought some life to it. I thought the finish was worked fine and kept Cena clean and Egde the slimy heel. Meh match overall, not their worst (**1/2)"
Dragon Fighter wrote on 30.12.2017:
[5.0] "Decent main event overall. First half of the match was pretty dull with little heat. Edge's control was not much exciting. Second half was much better. Cena's comeback was surprisingly good. Crowd woke up again. The finish which i thought was quite lame, but made sense - setting up for the rematch at unforgiven."

Cena was worse than usual and Edge was just bad and painful to watch here and the environment in which this was in just didn't work. Easily one of the worst matches I've ever seen."

[8.0] "Another chapter of Edge vs John Cena, a feud that was on for almost the whole 2006. The crowd got into the match, some on Cena's side, others on Edge's side. Anyway it's a good main event, with a F-U on both Lita and Edge, and a brutal cheap conclusion that was expected because the feud had to continue, great storytelling. ***3/4"
TheOneWhoKnocks wrote on 15.10.2016:
[7.0] "Good match thanks to the Rated R Superstar himself, Edge. Edge was always the one who brought out the best in John Cena. He was one of the few heels who managed to achieve what even guys like Angle, HHH and Jericho could not, and that was get the crowd completely behind Cena. His heel performance here was wonderful to watch as usual and you could feel the hatred between these two men. What a feud this was. ***1/4 for the match."
