Chyna vs. The Road Dogg

[4.0] "Something that today is weird to see, an intersex match, but Chyna makes it look like it's a normal match, the level of Road Dogg is great but Triple H interfering here ruins it for moments. 4/10 [**3/4]"

[8.0] "Thought this match was great, though maybe it's because the rest of the matches were god awful. Road Dogg does some great selling for Chyna and the match is very entertaining"

[2.0] "Just absolutely horrible. The favoritism here is just staggering. This show is filled to the BRIM with bite sized matches that are so short we can't even review them here. But of course Chyna gets a double digit length match. And the entire match is just her hitting Road Dogg with stiff moves while he does nothing back to her. And of course, since Chyna isn't a competent worker, Triple H had to be at ringside audibly calling the entire thing for her. I'm not entirely against inter-gender matches, but I think they need to be even. Either both genders need to bring it and work snug, or both need to be light and careful with the other. A one-sided match to feed Chyna and Triple H's ego, and then she doesn't even WIN. The finish was clever, and that's the only good thing I can say about it. An absolute bore booked entirely to stroke egos."

[5.0] "The crowd loved this, but Triple H was way too involved for this to be competitive. Plus, it's a Road Dogg match, so it was never going to be great anyway."

[6.0] "It goes a bit long, but this was one of the better matches on this show as this had a fun babyface moment for Road Dogg. Chyna is in control for a lot of it, and RD's selling puts her as a strengths over well and the storytelling is good here as well because of RD's reluctance to throw strikes, which does just as much to put him at a disadvantage as Triple H being at ringside and he ends up interfering several times. The crowd gets hot for it when Shawn Michaels shows up and has Triple H thrown out and the finish is great where Dogg was wearing a cup when Chyna went for a low blow, and then he wins with the Pumphandle slam. Chyna's selling on the arm was really good there as well, and I like it when the faces are booked smart like that. Road Dogg should have made the finals in my opinion."

[4.0] "actually not as bad as i was expecting. Was pretty entertaining for sure. Still a little weird goofy crap in it but for the most part this is a solid match. Really interesting here in 1999 it feels like theyre building to a HHH and HBK match and feud which we know we dont get for another 3 years in 2002. Solid 2 stars"

[1.0] "Hard to really make a King of the Ring interesting on an individual match level, but this was pretty bad even by those standards"

[5.0] "A pretty mediocre match that picked up near the end and the crowd was pretty hot for the finish. Chyna sold the Pumphandle Drop really well and the reaction makes you think that maybe Road Dogg was the right choice to win King Of The Ring. 3 stars at best."

[6.0] "I honestly don't understand the low ratings for this match! The storytelling was really good, maybe with the exception of the Shawn Michaels interference, and the pump handle slam was killer. I thought Chyna looked really good here, enough to make Road Dogg's comeback exciting."

[6.0] "This match really won me over with time. It started out slowly and no matter how much they structured the whole thing Chyna's offense looked bad and her lack of charisma was visible, but Road Dogg carried the whole thing to the biggest crowd reaction of the night so far. The fans were losing their minds for Jesse's comeback and from a dull bout they turned it into a pretty good little contest."

[6.0] "Bizarrely this was my second favourite match of the night - it felt like they had the crowd involved, the match had a clear structure to hide Chyna's weaknesses... probably overrating but I ended up having fun here compared to the card thus far."

[3.0] "Match of the first round, and this was somehow still an overindulgent waste of time. They took about the same amount of action they could have fit in 5 minutes and shoved it into thirteen. Chyna is only really any good in squashes at this point, so of COURSE she should get the longest match of the night so far! Also, they put Chyna in KOTR but they still act like Road Dogg would be a complete pussy if he got beat up by a woman. So, is she a threat or is she not, WWF? Make up your minds."

[4.0] "Waaaaay too long. The action itself was fine and could've been wrapped into a neat 6-7 minute bow... and then proceeded to go double that. The last half of this match is what this whole match should've been and was pretty good, but the first half was quite dreadful."

[2.0] "This really felt like it lasted forever. Chyna could not work and the way the announcers were selling it made it so much worse. They managed to treat Chyna like a freak for wrestling men, imply it's embarrassing for Road Dogg to get beat up by a girl, and play up there being a "moral dilemma" for Road Dogg about fighting a girl. I don't know what's worse, this or WWE now barely acknowledging intergender matches as a concept. I think my answer is this, this is worse."

[4.0] "The first real match we get tonight. They kill a few minutes with the basic headlocks and hammerlocks. Chyna goes out over the top and Dogg goes after her but a distraction from HHH gets him posted in return. Chyna gets a ddt for 2. Body slam and she mocks the shaky knee drop. Chyna hooks a sleeper then Dogg reverses but HHH puts her foot on the ropes to break it up. Another referee goes down and HHH knocks Dogg cold with a chain. Referee recover for a close 2 1/2. Commish Shawn Michaels shows up and ejects HHH, then Chyna tries a low blow but hurts her arm because Dogg pulls out a metal cup then gives her the pumphandle slam for the pin. Crowd got into this one, and it was the first decent match of the night."

[4.0] "Chyna simply wasn't good enough for a match of this length - just under 15 minutes - and while there were some fun spots it had to be full of overbooking and interference to fill out the time. Road Dogg carried it to something tolerable with his charisma, but it was far from actually being good."
