[4.0] "Even watching this 2x speed was slow. Twice in a lifetime for no reason but money. But then the extravagant reception and production that was given for the Once in a lifetime, was no where to be found in this one. Funny."
[8.0] "First off, I want to say that this match had one of my favorite builds to any WM main ever. This very much surprised me as this match doesn't have the greatest reputation, but it turns out it was really good. Was it a finisher fest? Yes. Did the crowd buy into all of it? Pretty much."
[3.0] "I really dislike this match and consider far inferior to the 28 match. This match was just spamming finishers to a crowd that is not as invested as they were the year before. No one wanted twice in a lifetime, and this match isn't going to change anyone's mind."
[9.0] "Even though many of fans dont like it but I do. I was a kid when this match came on TV and my mouth was open for an entire climax segment. Finisher after finisher made me love it as a kid. I even thought that this match was better than WM 28. Lol."
[8.0] "The 'Twice in a Lifetime' match that shouldn't happen, if we look at this from that perspective, and probably a lot of people here did, it's a valid rating, because the match absolutely shouldn't have happened, and it ruined the whole concept of 'Once in a Lifetime' from the previous WrestleMania, I mean, it's not once in a lifetime if it went back to back, right? Having that in mind, if we look at it strictly from an in-ring perspective, it's a total banger LMAO, I loved the match, the pace is great, some people called it boring and in fact the crowd wasn't so hyped up, specially comparing to last year's, the audience didn't fully bought the matchup this time and the atmosphere was kinda weird because of that, but the action was incredible, it's the best and most fluid match Rock had since his return, even the slow moments were interesting, everything was super smooth, and the progression was awesome, reminded me of a NJPW main event, slow but fun, with many reversal and creative solutions in the middle, and a thrilling ending stretch, without shenanigans, just pure wrestling. They've really put an effort on having a different and unique match here, that didn't ignored the previous bout, but learned from it, at this point they know each other well and had a counter for everything, it was a dance, I loved the sequences. The ending was an ultimate callback, with Rock kicking out of the rock bottom, then Cena went for the same cocky finisher that made him lose the first match, but this time, he knew Rock was there and got stuck in the ropes, to outsmart his opponent. I also loved when Rock was going for the five knuckle shuffle and Cena caught him, another nice callback. This match was weird because it shouldn't happen, the crowd wasn't feeling it and booed the result, nobody wanted Cena as a champion again, but yeah, doing my best to ignore the disastrous context, bell-to-bell it's a really good work, I just love smart matches like this - {***3/4}"
[4.0] "This match itself is supbar and boring with too much finisher fests dragging from both John Cena and The Rock. The only positive I can give about this match is the outcome that Cena ended Rocky's unneeded part timer reign. CM Punk at least should have been champion until this event. Btw I think that is the perfect time to pull the trigger on Cena's heel run. [**]"
[5.0] "While I wouldn't say these two underdelivering, this match wasn't worth handing them the main event a second time. It's certainly worse than their first encounter for a number of reasons. First, you knew the finish. You knew Cena had to get his win back. And you knew Rock wasn't going to hang on to the title for a long time. Maybe if it was a second non-title match there might have been some reasonable doubt, but for the belt, this was an easy prediction. The crowd, while not dead, was quite cool and quiet for a Wrestlemania main event. Most of the match was very basic and mid-paced moves, and then the end was just a finisher spam fest straight out of a video game. It almost became funny how much they just abused finishers and nothing else. There was nothing exciting about this match, and they did nothing that you wouldn't have expected walking into it. It's far from a bad match, but for a Wrestlemania main event world title match, it left a lot to be desired. If you are itching for your Cena/Rock fix, rewatch WM28."
[8.0] "Even though its not as big or even as good as their first bout I still really liked this match a lot. I thought the crowd was crazy into it and even though they spammed finishers I was really into it and I felt after the match that this was a great match."
[5.0] "Re-watching this as a quintessence of objectively bad Mania wasn't a pleasurable experience. It has some elements of emotionallity and decently executed psychology, however ending as a reversed copy of their match a year earlier was so disappointing."
[6.0] "Twice in one lifetime. A sequel that doesn't live up to the original. It was a competent match and told a decent story of Cena avenging last year's loss by learning from his mistakes. Unfortunately the crowd didn't care like the Miami crowd did in last year's encounter for most of the match. It was all right, but it makes last year's game less special. It was also boring until the last few minutes when they started to spam their finishers."
"Slightly underrated match that I enjoyed quite a bit. Nice counters and solid back and forths throughout. By no means is it a technical masterclass if that's what you are looking for, but a good watch nonetheless and served its purpose. Sort of watered down by the repeated attempts at finishers due to their limited arsenals, and also The Rock's sharpness and age (+ an injury iirc). More spectacle than substance? Sure. But I liked it. (***1/4)"
[4.0] "I couldn't get in to this at all. It starts off really slow and boring, then when it finally picks up it's pure finisher spam. To their credit, the crowd was really invested in this, but it didn't appeal to me at all. It was the equivalent of a popcorn movie - just mindless 'explosions' with no depth. If you were watching live and invested in the outcome then I can understand why this would be entertaining, but watching it in retrospect I just thought it was dull, paint-by-numbers, and had none of the charm that was evident in their first match since it was no longer 'Once In A Lifetime'. Not for me."
[8.0] "I think the match at 28 was a technically better match, but I was impressed with this one for getting this disinterested stadium crowd into their match and biting on the big nearfalls. A quality main event here that clawed its way to four stars. Cena and Rock shared words before Cena ceded the ring to the Rock for a final bow, then Rock caught up to Cena on the stage to raise his hand to end the show. ****"
[6.0] "they basically just did the same match again, the only new thing was Cena stealing the rock bottom. you don't even have a hot miami crowd to get behind the rock, they're pretty quiet for the most part and only get into it in the last 5 minutes when they start spamming their finishers, who can blame them? no wonder Punk left ***"
[8.0] "Obvsiously in a minority but i actually enjoyed this match and a good way to close a dull show despite the opening part of the match which was a bit flat and dull the finisher fest was great - normally agaisnt a finisher fest type of match but in this instance i think it was acceptable"
[9.0] "One of my personal favourites, It may not be great but as a kid, seeing John Cena finally beat The Rock after W28 and his horrible 2012, It was heavenly and really special for me. To this day, looking back and watching them in the main event for the title, It will always makes me tear up."
[1.0] "No lie, this might be one of the worst main events in the history of Wrestlemania and that pains me to say as a Cena fan, I disliked their first match quite strongly but this one, I despise, just a senseless bore and a complete drag for it's entire duration, Rock getting hurt definitely didn't help but him using a total of like 4 moves throughout the entire match couldn't have helped much either, just a genuine snoozefest and really only watchable in an ironic setting, it's not the WORST match of all time but it's one of the most boring and to be honest, being as boring as this one was may be worse than being outright bad, because at least bad wrestling can be "so bad it's funny", this is genuinely just terrible, the only positive I can leave with from this one (and the only reason I'm giving it a single point) is that John won and that put a smile on my face because I thought he should've won at 28 to begin with, but this was just awful and them letting this main event over Punk-Taker just baffles me at this point man..."
[7.0] "[3.25*] Wow, I enjoyed this one a lot more than people here. I still thing the first 5 minutes were boring, bad and the crowd was silent, but when they started the finisher war, it was pretty good. I saw a lot of finisher battles on WrestleManias on the same level as this one with much higher grades, and I think this has to do with the fact that this match should not have existed in the first place. It was Once In A Lifetime, and the ME spot belonged to Cena and Punk, that is a fact. However, evaluating purely the match, without backstage stuff, man, it was so fucking cool. It was not just a finisher trade, it had actual reversal dances like idk Okada vs Tanahashi (lmao) or every single Jay White big match on NJPW. They did some cool-ass reversals and it had storytelling, it connected with their first match, specially when John faked-out the Peoples Elbow just to outsmart Rock. I really think the match should have ended there, it would have been perfect, but it was still very cool the way it was and is highly underrated. The idea was simple and cliche, but the execution was very satisfying."
[5.0] "Was nowhere near a bad match, but just under the threshold of good for me. The last 10 minutes or so were a ton of fun, though. Took a while to get going & Rock getting hurt somewhere along the way in here definitely didnt make it any easier. **.75"
[1.0] "Boring, boring, boring, boring. The 'story' behind this match is that this year was the worst year that John Cena ever had and this match is redemption for Cena, which I don't buy at all due to the poor booking surrounding that. I don't like their one in a lifetime match all that much so this match isn't a huge step down but still manages to be noticeably worse. It's the previous match except you don't get the solid start and rather the whole thing is kind of pretty boring for the most part. Even as the match turned into finisher spam, the match still felt really boring and lifeless, I could not care about it less."
[3.0] "Welcome to rest-hold-mania, everybody. That's right, Vince McMahon was such an intelligent businessman in the 2010's that instead of addressing CM Punk's pipe-bomb promo & coming up with a good idea for the next year's main event, he placed a move-deficient John Cena in an unnecessary sequel match to WM28's main event with a well-past-his-prime Dwayne Johnson in what would be Johnson's final substantial match for a bit over an entire decade. This thing took forever, was devoid of interesting/unique spots, & the finisher spam was as spammed as the day is long. A poor way to end what I felt was an otherwise pretty great and underrated Wrestlemania. 3 points because both talent involved are ring-competent, but that's really about it."
[4.0] "The match was too long despite it being shorter than the first and it didn't feel special or recapture anything that was fantastic about their first match either."
[3.0] ""Twice in a Lifetime" didnt live up to the expectations of so many, including myself. After the thrilling encounter between The Rock and John Cena at WrestleMania 28, the idea of a rematch was met with mixed reactions. While the storyline wasnt terrible, it lacked the energy and anticipation that made their first match so special. The buildup this time around felt flat, as if the excitement had been drained out by the predictability of the outcome. The stakes were higher, with the WWE Championship on the line, but the journey to the match didnt have the same magic that made their previous clash so memorable. When it came time for the main event, it was hard not to feel a sense of disappointment. The match itself seemed to be missing that elusive spark, the kind of electricity that made their WrestleMania 28 bout a classic. There was nothing inherently wrong with the in-ring action, but it felt like something was off. The chemistry between The Rock and Cena just wasnt as strong this time around, and the pacing of the match suffered as a result. What should have been a battle for the ages ended up feeling more like a routine rematch, lacking the drama and intensity that fans had hoped for. One of the biggest issues was the sheer number of finishing moves used throughout the match. Rather than adding to the excitement, the excessive finishers became repetitive and took me out of the moment. Each time Cena or The Rock kicked out of a finishing move, it felt less like a dramatic near-fall and more like a forced attempt to recreate the magic of their first encounter. By the time the match ended, it was clear that "Twice in a Lifetime" didnt quite live up to the hype. It was a solid main event by most standards, but when compared to the previous years showdown, it fell short of greatness."
[4.0] "I watched this match a matter of days ago and remember literally nothing about it. It was spectacle and nothing more. It was a Wrestlemania moment seeing them staring at each other across the ring - two legends of different generations - but what followed was empty. I do remember Cena heeling it up, which was fun."
[5.0] "This was basically just a mediocre version of their Once in a Lifetime match. The two spammed each others finishers and big moves for over 20 minutes with little to no substance for the most part. Cena was able to get his win back in this unnecessary rematch. This would be rated lower if it wasnt for the amazing crowd."
[8.0] "This very much surprised me as this match doesn't have the greatest reputation, but it turns out it was really good. Was it a finisher fest? Yes. Did the crowd buy into all of it? Pretty much. I might actually prefer this match to their original bout because they upped the speed a bit which was nice. Fun match."
[7.0] "In my opinion this match is good show. Feels much better then they first fight, finisher spam just fits better for those 2 then trying something technical like year before. I can understand people disappointmend in match build up but "raw" fight aged nicely"
[7.0] "Different than in 'Mania 28. A half-baked start that boils down to wrestling. No more drama. A finishers competition at the end. Nods to the first game. Not a remarkable match technically but it remains to be seen. (3*3/4)"
[6.0] "I really enjoyed their match from last year, but for some reason this one didn't quite click for me. The pacing felt off, and were there sound issues or did the crowd seem REALLY quiet at some points? Things did pick up a lot towards the end, but it was too little too late for me. The crowd wasn't feeling the Cena and Rock handshake at the end either."
[5.0] "Their match the previous year wasn't spectacular in ring wise but it did feel special because of the 'Once in a Lifetime' build. But this didn't feel special. We knew that Cena was gonna win because he couldn't loose again. It was like a rerun with similar sequences and timing. Only the winner was different. It wasn't all bad but overall it was average at best and way too long. **1/2"
[2.0] "Better pace than their match the year before but the whole thing quickly becomes cartoonishly ridiculous with each guy kicking ouf of the other's finisher about a million times before the end. Nearfalls are only exciting when they're believable so when half the match is literally finishers and kickouts it kind of defeats the point. This match is another case of WWE trying to force an epic to the point it's just overdone and bad."
[5.0] "Somehow I preferred this over their first match. This was essentially to just rewrite last years match and in no way did this need to happen but it was quite a bit shorter and did try to tell the story of Cena finding something to beat the Rock. Suckering him in with the same People's Elbow steal and even using the Rock Bottom which beat him the previous year is kinda neat. The rest was either a shit ton of punches, way too many finisher counters or just other stuff that was fine I guess. The final AA did not feel like a match ender either but this wasn't all that bad - **3/4"
[6.0] "There was no drama or intrigue on the level of last time, and it was fairly clear Cena was getting his win back. Definitely a step down from their last match due to Rock's injury, but it got the job done."
[4.0] "Twice in a Lifetime. this was nowhere near as good as their first match. this felt very forced for Cena to get his win back. Punk DEFINITELY deserved this main event spot. a heel Cena vs a face Rock would've done a lot better. a lot of wasted potential here."
[5.0] "Twice in a Lifetime eh? Look, besides the fact that this match had no good reason to exist... it just wasn't as good as the original. I get the feeling that they were like "Hm... how do we make this match more exciting? More finishers! " Even the developers WWE 2K14 had to incorporate that element when they recreated the match in the 30 years of WrestleMania mode by giving infinite finishers. That is the lasting memory of the match. Besides that, you had long headlocks and a match that felt lifeless, aside from the call back to the finish of WrestleMania last year. It was bland. A 5/10."
[9.0] "First off, I want to say that this match had one of my favorite builds to any WM main ever. Secondly, I want to acknowledge the amazing work done by production on all 3 video packages building to this match during the show. With all of that gravitas leading into the opening bell, this is one of the only instances where I feel that all parties involved really earned the finisher spamming nature of the match, and that executing in that nature was the right call to make. That said, I've heard Cena say that he even feels the match could've been done better, so it seems to me that I enjoy it even more than one of the participants does."
[5.0] "This was a rematch of the once-in-a-lifetime match but this time the WWE championship is on the line. The match doesn't feel as big as it did last time but it's still a pretty big match. There are a lot of headlocks in the opening which makes for a really slow pace. The best part about this match is when they actually have some nice counters to their moves, transitioning into other moves only to get countered again. They made some callbacks to their last WM match as well, and they hit a shit ton of finishers until one last AA puts The Rock away.**3/4"
[2.0] "The fact that they gave up CM Punk for this match is funny, the match in short is a finishers that has no meaning and it was boring, I don't know why they didn't let Punk an Taker to be in the main event, the match ended up by Cena taking the win just to close the rivery at 1-1"
[4.0] "Similar action to last year but the magic of seeing these two go at it has gone. Both guys put on long headlocks that suck the life out of the already tired crowd. Things pick up once they start trading and teasing their finishers, but even that eventually starts to feel excessive. Cena was the quasi-heel here and his smug and arrogant facials and body language are one of the few highlights of this match. He attempts to do the People's Elbow again, a move that cost him the match last year, but he's able to outthink Rock and stop himself from running into a Rock Bottom again. The result of this never felt in question. How could a match between two of the biggest stars of the 2000s feel so lifeless?"
[5.0] "While this match wasn't all that special, it felt like a huge main event, even though it was the second straight year. I felt the story was okay, Cena wanted his win back, and this would be seen as a passing of the torch."
[9.0] "Rematch to one of the biggest and most hyped matches of all time. Although Rock v Cena II did not have the electric atmosphere of their first, I believe it to be the better paced match. This match lasted 24 mins (c. f their first match lasting 30 mins) making it a far more succinct encounter that did not waste time on prolonged submission attempts. I also fail to see how this match could be rated that much lower than their first match. Reading some reviews, it all comes off like a rather silly dose of motivated reasoning, based on people being sour that 1) CM Punk (of which crowd theory dictated was the cool guy to support) dropped the belt to The Rock and failed to regain it leading up to Wrestlemania, or 2) Cena (of whom crowd theory dictated was the popular guy to hate on) came out on top."
[1.0] "Their WM 28 match was a great spectacle. It felt special and they played off the crowd. There wasn't any great in-ring work in that one either, but it felt like an unpredictable clash between two of the biggest names in wrestling. This match was just awful and had none of what made their first match good. This wasn't a spectacle and they couldn't play off the crowd. There wasn't even a good story because it was obvious that Cena would get his win back or else this match wouldn't have happened at all. Moves on top of moves with zero flow or heat. About 6, 7 or 8 finisher kickouts and it just got worse and worse the longer it went. Cena tricking Rock with the people's elbow callback was pretty funny, but that's about it. Just as bad as the indyriffic Cena spotfest matches. *1/2"
[1.0] "This was pointless and this stole the spotlight from CM Punk, once in a lifetime my ass, this sucked even more than the wrestlemania 28 one and this one made the 28 match even worse, terrible feud, Rock shouldn't of come back"
[4.0] "A disappointing sequel made only worse with how the WWE Title got involved. Of all 4 marquee matches that were promoted, the fans were only invested in Punk/Taker. They can't play off the crowd this time and that might be the biggest reason why this doesn't live up to the original. This was no spectacle, instead they delivered a slow, predictable and undeniably shallow match. On this day, two established superstars were eclipsed by the true stars of Wrestlemania 29. **1/4"
[0.0] "Once in a Lifetime became twice in a Lifetime. Worst than WM28, very bad match with many finishers. Useless re-match with nothing special. Oh, no. Cena become 13-th time world champion. Great achievement(NO! )"
Hier wurde der ME Spot also erneut blockiert, was einfach unnötig war.
[2.0] "Last year wasn't outstanding but it was an entertaining match. A spectacle. This wasn't entertaining. It wasn't a spectacle. It was boring. It was just two guys trading moves. On paper that could be something but it wasn't in execution. *1/2"
[6.0] "Das überflüssige Re-Match von WM 28 ("Twice in a lifetime"? !
[6.0] "Another rematch on this card was The Rock vs. John Cena, but this time the WWE title was on the line. The first thing that really surprised me was that WWE did not show the promo video for this match right before it took place. I am positive I heard a "Boring" chant during the match at some point, which either means the match was boring or the crowd was getting cranky. JBL calling John Cena the Jim Kelly of WWE if he loses to Rock a second time put a smile on my face. When this match started, most fans had been in their seats for well over four hours, and this match was one that a lot of people simply did not have the energy for. The weather was a bit chilly, and everyone had probably already lost their voice. This match did not have the level of performance from either man that anyone expected, which made it an awkward end to the show. Maybe five hours is too long for a PPV with this kind of star power, but the final match of the night did not have the crowd's full attention until the final five minutes. Once The Rock and Cena began countering everything the other threw at them, and hitting each other's finishers as well as their own, the fans began to get behind it. John Cena had a few nice moments in the match. The sequence where Cena suckered Rock in by pretending to do the same thing he did last year was kind of cool, but The Rock still ended up hitting him with a Rock Bottom two seconds later. John Cena won the match with a final AA, and he won the WWE title. He and Rock shared a handshake and a hug on the ramp, and then the show ended."
[4.0] "However, they did not need a rematch. This match really exposed how much the Rock had lost in terms of in-ring skill and stamina, but luckily Cena did a good job to supplant Rock's work. The match is just too predictable, there's nothing that we haven't seen in the WM 28 match and, elephant in the room -- the match could've welcomed having Punk in a Triple Threat environment. Sometimes, the rematch can't live up to the original."
[4.0] "Seriously, this was predictable. Twice in a life time LOL. This match, at the end of the day, was okay. Nothing much special and memorable at all. They did the usual cena formula. Big move-kick out- finishers- kick out. Nothing new here. Cena's kicking out 2 rock bottoms was a little over the top, but i thought it was fine- better than some of bad cena spotfest matches. The rock looked good at his age. Overall Okay match to end an uneventful mania."
[4.0] "TWICE IN A LIFETIME! Well, pretty predictable result, and both the in-ring action and the psychology was way weaker than the year before. The star power is there, but that's the only thing about it."
[3.0] "Disgusting spectacle. Especially against the background of the last match. We are trying to repeat the well-known game of Austin and the Rock, but eventually wrought. It was necessary that their meeting last Mania was the last. But the company wanted to cut the money for the second time due to loud signs. I regret that I watched while in the air."
Once in a Lifetime? So genug aufgeregt.
[9.0] "This was a classic match; another one for the ages. They hit the ring with peps in their steps, did some nice work early, settled in for the long haul, and proceeded right into a great series of counter after counter after counter, kick out after kick out after kick out, storytelling along the way, and the right finish and the right end to the show."
[5.0] "The fact this match even happened annoyed me. It was supposed to be a once in a lifetime match so why they booked it again, il never know. The outcome was also extremely predictable."
[4.0] "Absolut schwaches Main Event.
[6.0] "This match was weaker than a match of the same wrestlers a year before. Well worked middle of opposition and Rock Bottom to the Rock was remembered only. Everything began very boringly, and ended absolutely improbably, having exposed both terminators transferring on 4 finishing moves of the opponent. My rating: ***1/4."
[9.0] "Great match despite having been criticized in many, thanks to the last 6-7 minutes very intense and exciting with a John Cena really big sweep."
[7.0] "Though this match offered more pops and spots, their previous match was a lot better and more organized. All they literally did in this match was throw moves at each other, heavily prostituting their finishers. But still an enjoyable match"
[5.0] "Good crowd reaction, but unfortunately they start way too quickly the finisher-reversal-finisher-kick out segment of the match (maybe because of the injuries of the Rock? ) Anyway, my rating is also lowered by the post-match segment, which doesn't really feel genuine at all."
Mission 'Twice in a lifetime' = gescheitert."
[4.0] "Bad. Absolutely bad. Their match at WrestleMania 28 was bad, but hats off to John Cena for his work in that match. Hell, hats off to him after this match despite the fact I didn't enjoy it at all. I haven't seen anything extraordinary during the match and, what's more, after it (WrestleMania main-event). I don't remember anything interesting except stolen from each other moves. Furthermore, the way WrestleMania ended was horrible, you could see by Rock's face it was really terrible. And, thank God, The Rock has left WWE after that match. All of his matches were so slow that I was about to fall asleep during every match."
Zwei Dinge stören mich in diesem Jahr.
Nach Once in a Lifetime war Twice in a lifetime einfach überflüssig."
Come On.
