[6.0] "A nice opener with a lot of overbooking in terms of interventions. The most striking is that of Sammy Guevara disguised as Fuego Del Sol. (3*1/4)"
[7.0] "Felt like a real grudge fight. Nothing brighting, they were here to beat the shit out of the other, humiliate the opponent. Great storytelling, for sure. The finish was clearly smart, didn't see it coming."
[7.0] "3.5 stars is my rating for this match. It was a really energetic match with some cool spots and great energy from both wrestlers and the ending was a surprise."
[6.0] "This was an average match that was elevated massively by the story behind in and, even more so, an electric crowd. The Guevara twist was absolutely hideous and pretty much ends my interest in the previously amazing Jericho Appreciation Society."
[6.0] "This match was more about the storyline behind it between Jericho and Kingston and a lot of stuff happened outside the match with interference that was interesting but still took a lot away. Outside of the hurricanerana being turned into a powerbomb, there wasn't really anything that exciting in the match. ***1/4"
[7.0] "Not an amazing match by any means, but it was really enjoyable to watch. I quite enjoyed the Sammy twist, as it? s the best thing for Guevara to do rn. Just a sloppy brawl, where you could see either man win."
[5.0] "I guess it worked well as an opening match. The in-ring work was okay. They did a decent job of teasing that Jericho would lose, but then we got the expected screwy finish with Jericho winning anyway."
[7.0] "Not a spectacular match but a lot of fun. The near falls at the end were particularly fun to watch and the crowd were super into it. The Sammy swerve was cool too ***1/2"
[8.0] "Excellent match, extremely heated and both guys seemed out to make this into something really good. I liked the Sammy twist and the post match was quite cool as well."
[7.0] "This wasn't an amazing match, nowhere close, but I had a great time watching it live and felt invested due to the fairly rare stipulation. Each near fall and reversal meant something. I especially loved the Kingston back fist near fall. I truly thought that was the finish. The actual finish is my only complaint. Sammy Guevara reuniting with Jericho after he destroyed their last faction is stupid booking, especially because they had grown completely distant since then. This type of surprise needed to have a build. Regardless, the match was solid. [***1/4]"
[7.0] "I went into this expecting Jericho to go bald but that obviously didn't happen. The match was full of chaos towards the end, I thought when Kingston hit the spinning backfist Jericho was going to lose but that didn't happen. Overall a really fun match with some tense near falls towards the end.***1/2"
[8.0] "A very standard match with a few great counters, but the Backfist nearfall and the post-match with Ortiz screaming BLOOD AND GUTS while shaving his head and bleeding were fucking awesome. Crowd was super hot here too. ***1/2+"
[8.0] "2022 - Hot as fuck crowd, some great near falls. Not totally convinced by the result but Ortiz hopefully will have his revenge. Just hope he can get those reactions again because this crowd was fucking electric in his support. ****"
[8.0] "A lot of very good things from this match/segment. I thought the match was good, and that near-fall from Jericho definitely got me. I thought Ortiz did a great job, and the chaos outside the match worked well with promoting Blood & Guts. Sammy Guevara joining the JAS was a huge swerve, but I think it's a great idea to have him there as a heel. Lastly, Ortiz aggressively cutting his hair to the point where he's bleeding is pretty intense, and badass. 8/10"
[9.0] "What a damn match. This was wild, and the crowd was too. The hot ass crowd was really what made me like this match and show a whole lot more than I otherwise would've. But this was just a big move, big stakes match. The near falls were wild, and I honestly didn't mind all the interference. This was Jericho's best singles match in a while. ****1/2"
[6.0] "This was a fun match to watch live but it's not going to WOW you with anazing wrestling action or anything. Some really close nearfalls at the end especially when Kingston got involved. I never thought Jericho would go bald but that didn't mean he couldn't lose and have one of his goons lose their hair instead - which made me bite on the nearfalls more than I probably should've. Also, Ortiz comes off as a total badass after cutting his own hair in the aftermath."
[7.0] "Passions are heating up. Sammy Guevara is back under Jericho's wing and it's probably for the best, the factions are growing and the confrontation on Blood and Guts will truly attract attention. Hair Vs. Hair Match turned out to be cool, I really already thought that Jericho would lose his hair, I even thought he would have a hair transplant due to problems with his native hair, but it seems not, everything suits him. A cool match with non-stop action and high stakes, a good start to the show and a charge for the fans."
[9.0] "****1/2. I thought this match was incredible. Ortiz showed so much fire, Jericho was at his best. Really bought a lot of the false finishes. This was great stuff."
[6.0] "I fully expected a Jericho win in this one for a few reasons. A) Fool me once was Matt Hardy avoiding a head-shaving despite being an older guy with a bald spot. B) Regal kind of over-sold Jericho losing his hair, and C) Jericho's bald spot has been quite visible as of late but he's been pretty much completely bald on top in the past. How Jericho has managed to keep going with hair in spite of that is testament to his powers as a wizard. Actually, his hair right now is unbelievably good considering how thin it has looked so he's managed to bounce back from more than a little bald spot in the past. I didn't see him giving it up so easily because of that, but there's always the chance he'll get trapped in the cage without his crew and punished with clippers. Might be bad for brand recognition, though. Anyway, the match itself was fine and kind of felt like a Mexican hair vs hair match with all of the shenanigans (for better or worse). It wasn't necessarily the most interesting wrestling-wise but there was a decent bit of drama. Ortiz shaving his own head Suzuki-style was a nice touch."
[7.0] "A decent enough singles match that does a good job of moving the story forward. I liked that Ortiz shaved his own head instead of letting the barber do it. It was a cool image."
[6.0] "While the match was adequete, the story behind it was interesting, the end of the match was terrible. Maybe there was also not an Ortiz's fault, he isn't a singles wrestler, so he did as best as he can. The surprise revelation of Sammy again as hell was great. Satisfactory match. [***]"
[6.0] "Would have been a 7 (or an 8 since htere is no 7.5) if Ortiz had won. Don't really get the point in having Jericho win this when he needs a haircut anyways."
[8.0] "An overall good wrestling match that had me fairly suprised by the end as I did not see Ortiz losing his hair but ultimately made sense as Jericho's hair right now is arguably too important to his character to be sacrificed just yet."
[6.0] "Sammy turn was really good job and it was one of few things that could save his spot on card. Jericho is huge value for AEW for things like this."
[7.0] "Like a lot of people I went into this wanting to see Jericho lose his hair, but they managed to make the ending work really well, with the swerve interference ending being done well enough to be enjoyable. Some great setup for Blood and Guts."
[6.0] "This was a good Hair vs. Hair match, with mostly everyone wanting to see Jericho shaved but it was clearly going to be Ortiz getting shaved. Some nice action here, especially from Ortiz when he got some. Jericho was at his usual good work, not doing bad at all. The ringside interference spots I actually liked, with Sammy Guevara dressed up as Fuego Del Sol costing Ortiz the match and joining the Jericho Appreciation Society. Not a bad twist at all, and Ortiz shaving his hair while yelling out ? BLOOD AND GUTS? was pretty intimidating. [*** 1/4]"
[7.0] "This really served more to further the JAS/Kingston/BCC stuff, but it did that very well. Ortiz having agency in cutting his own hair at the end, rather than being semi-conscious in the chair was an excellent choice, and kept everyone looking strong."
[7.0] "Good construction fight for Blood & Guts, as now with Forbidden Door they will be under a lot of pressure, I really didn't expect Sammy's return here."
[7.0] "This was a star making night for Ortiz as he didn't only step up to the ring and give a great fight against Jericho, he also earned a ton of respect by being a man of his word after the match. Sammy pulling out a disguise of Fuego is a nice surprise as he did a similar one previously as Serpentico. The build to Blood & Guts is great so far as this match raised the much-needed huge spark. 3.5 out of 5 stars!"
[7.0] "Fun opener that helped build Blood & Guts, saw Sammy Guevara (now with Tay Conti) reintegrated with Chris Jericho, and Ortiz protected as he's now bald. When in singles matches, Jericho's been on good form since the Eddie Kingston match at Revolution, and he did well here too."
[7.0] "Good match and good storyline developments overall. Of course Jericho was not going to lose, it would be stupid on so many levels for him to cut off his hair at this point just because a bald spot is creeping in. Ortiz can take the shave, look bad ass doing so and it brings the story to the next level. Now Blood & Guts can be 6 on 6 with Sammy being back with Jericho, which also answers some silent questions that were hanging in the air for me. All good. Regal on commentary calling Jericho a " swine" and " tosspot" was golden. I loved the energy from all involved, including the crowd."
[6.0] "Solid match. Good drama. Very much enjoyed the Fuego/Sammy swerve and I think Guevara being back with Jericho permanently would be a great move to add more weight to the new Jericho stable."
[5.0] "I definitely thought Jericho was embracing his age but of course not! He's Jericho. His whole thing is midlife crisis-core. So yeah this just seemed like a waste of a good stip and not a particular good match regardless."
[7.0] "A match that played its part very well in every aspect, making Ortiz look strong even in defeat, adding more intrigue to Blood and Guts, and finally getting Sammy Guevara back in a fitting role. The standout moments to me were the absolutely massive near-fall when Eddie interfered and the fact that the crowd chanted Ortiz's name as he cut his own hair. Very smartly done in terms of adding another revenge element to the big faction showdown while still getting the babyfaces over."
