Orton's character work and psychology were brilliant during this match coming in cocky and slowly becoming more and more desperate and rageful that he can't put Mysterio away. Mysterio for his part carried in the work rate department bumping great(with a particular shout-out to a nasty-looking floor bump) he also sold his undying will with great baby face fire. The ending was also great as they both hit each other with everything they have left with Rey gaining the edge by baiting Orton in the end and dropping him with two 619's to finally put Orton away. |

Rey Mysterio, conquering hero, defends the title vs. Randy Orton immediately after Mania 22. This mirrors Orton/Christian from Smackdown in 2001 except it's better. It's Orton/Christian if Christian actually retained. Go out of your way to watch this match, and put yourself in the mind of somebody who never expected Rey to win the WWE World Title in the first place, and thought that it would be taken off him immediately.
