[5.0] "Kimura is over like crazy. As soon as the bell rings, the crowd is chanting "KI-MU-RA! KI-MU-RA! " Casey takes Kimura to the outside and works on the leg which appears to be his focal point in the bout. However, once Kimura gets some offense in, the crowd erupts. Interesting that Casey does some heelish stuff in here but the crowd doesn't really react like an American crowd would. We are getting wrestling fundamentals here: heel vs face, blind referees, etc. Kimura gets some offense towards the end with a flurry of strikes and this signals the end of the bout. This is definitely the best match on the card that I've seen so far but not worth actively seeking out."

[3.0] "This is a very rare outing into Rusher Kimura's brief run with the UWF: in fact, he had been one of the main figures to jump ship to the promotion alongside some other NJPW wrestlers, and had gave it a fairly strong buzz as a result. He later leaves due to a combination of factors (namely backstage politics and the shoot-style leanings of the promotion itself as things move forward, which was something he wasn't particularly wanting to get involved with). Either way, this is one of his only matches on tape, and, well.....I wouldn't be searching around for this one. Kimura wasn't terrible around this time but he was getting up there, typically having his best matches be in big tag affairs and even those being pretty uninspired. Having him paired with a guy who was competent but mostly used as a job guy: a effective one at that: but nothing legitimate. The match itself is a whole lot of nothing: Kimura slaps on a headlock for a bit before Casey reverses and attacks Kimura's legs, using the apron and corner to his advantage. Kimura overpowers, he leaves the ring and stalls before raking the eyes in a headlock to maintain advantage. Casey hides a blade under his armpit and uses it to rake the eyes more. Kimura counters and does the same before landing a headbutt for a near fall. Long boring headlock into reverse Atomic Drop by Casey, but Kimura counters a sloppy Irish Whip and lands a running elbow, some punches, and a lariat for the win. As I said, this is a lot of nothing for nine minutes. Casey is fine as a generic Gaijin foreign heel but Kimura is just boring on top and his selling isn't particularly interesting either. There's just nothing of interest and frankly Kimura would've been completely washed had he'd still been around for the post Sayama return era UWF if these was the performances that he was throwing out. Generic and uninspired, through the crowd try to get into it as best as they can given Kimura's massive goodwill with fans. Either way, just plain bad all around."
