403.04.2024uselessdollthing6.0It's a very cool and brutal match, but I was left wanting more by the end. The finish was kind of janky too, looked like HHH was going to hit Batista with the hammer but didn't at all. It was supposed to be like this fake out but I felt like they could have worked it out to a better finish with Batista taking the hammer and still managing to power through and finish HHH.

1216.02.2024Edgehead4Life10.010/10 for me. This was excellent. Dave & Hunter had an absolute fucking war in that cell. Did just about everything imaginable inside of the structure. Memorable match from an actually extremely memorable Raw PPV.

1411.02.2024ShaliK8.0Very good match with good use of the stipulation and rivalry. One of the best Hell In A Cell matches I've seen. (4*1/4)

1902.02.2024nothingleftinside7.0Honestly a little overrated; like 90% of this is them just throwing each other into the cage and selling. So many of these cell matches are so predictable. Bright points were the barbed wire chair and the sledgehammer. Both these guys are overrated honestly. They did work very hard so I'll give them that, but compared to the matches that came before, this was a little underwhelming.

2411.01.2024Scott Bailey10.0An unapologetically violent Hell in a Cell match. No matter what people say about Triple H and however much he deserved some of the criticism he got in this era, he put Batista over properly for three straight PPV matches and seeing him beaten so decisively in a match that defined his career was a true passing of the torch moment. The Animal was truly unleashed in this match and for a match as violent as this ended up being it actually goes at a surprisingly fast pace. It was very physical to watch from start to finish. The weapon spots was brutal to watch, but also creative where they used weapons like the steel chain in a particularly gruesome spot where Batista was hanged over the top rope. Every spot with the steel chair wrapped in barbed wire made my eyes water. Everything in this match looked unbelievably painful and they both did a great job selling it. Batista looked like a bonified star after this was over not just because of the decisive way he won, but also because he survived a shot with the sledgehammer and the Pedigree along the way. I loved the finish too where Triple H was unable to use the Sledgehammer to stop Batista winning with the Batista Bomb. It was like a duel where Batista just pulled the trigger first! This was an awesome match.

2607.01.2024GM56 Champion10.0I had some thoughts of watching it again, so I did it. The final test for Batista before becoming a full-blown main eventer and he passed it flawlessly. Brilliant psychology, violence and grit. A perfect way to end this unbelievable feud. 2005 was amazing for WWE in so many ways

3209.12.2023HugoRoids7.0For a HIAC match in the mid 2000s, I found this one to be a bit underwhelming. It's a good match, mind you, but the pacing was a bit jank and there were some times where I was bored. I enjoyed the amount of blood and the story leading into the match as well as the spots like the barbed wire chair headshot, but this one didn't click with me like I thought it would. Not offensive in any way and actually pretty decent considering HHH during the mid 2000s wasn't my favorite.

5018.07.2023TheRealLoLWO10.0Man, this match was very crazy. The barbed wire, the cell itself, chains, steel steps everything to put the match away. I loved Batista's white outfit it was very nice. Lots of brawls and bleeding. I agree with the guy below me that Triple H may be on the top best deathmatch wrestlers ever.

5315.07.2023Shoot Headbutt Lover10.0This match kicks ass, Batista takes a freaking spinebuster on a barbed wired chair, that is just so insane to me. Batista in the all white gear is so sick. There's a lot of walk-&-brawl in this match but it's still entertaining, and the hardcore spots they do are in fact brutal and are executed well. Triple H may in fact be the best deathmatch wrestler, I know he hates those matches from what I saw in that documentary about his street fight with Cactus Jack at Rumble. But man he was so damn good in this environment, he should've stopped trying to be the next Harley Race and tried to be the next Mr. Gannosuke, maybe people would've liked him more. The finish is amazing and one of the best in the WWE's history, the timing is insane, they could've fucked that up in so many ways but it was executed perfectly.

5509.07.2023Gravelord6.0I did not enjoy this match as much as it seems most others here and elsewhere do. I found it to be plodding, and not many of the hardcore spots actually felt all that brutal. I did enjoy some things, like the steel chair with barbed wire wrapped around it. But, I simply found the match's pace to be too slow, and it didn't seem as though there was much urgency from either competitor, who both seemed to move from spot to spot, most of which involved one of them throwing the other into something. Also, I have seen much more brutal hardcore matches than this one, so much of what was done didn't strike me as particularly impactful, and only served to undermine the sense of hate that Batista and HHH were trying to convey. ***

5926.05.2023ISimon19129.0It would be so nice if WWE would go back to that kind of approach with Hell In A Cell matches where the structure looked demonic and it was the closing stage for the best and most important feuds where big rivals used every method to win and it sounded brutal and memorable, too bad they turned this very special and imposing stipulation into a dull annual PPV, talking about the match is unanimously the best match of Batista's career and one of the best Hell In A Cell matches and matches by the big gold belt ever , Batista finally ending Triple H's 3-year Reign Of Terror and cementing himself as arguably the best superstar run with WHC in WWE (****3/4)
6008.05.2023Iustinas6.0It was mediocre, slow and boring match, it felt like eternity. I don't get it why people rating it so high.
6107.05.2023KingsCrossing10.0I wish Hell in a Cell still felt like this today. This is exactly what the match should be - the heated culmination of a storied rivalry and blood feud. They do such a fantastic job at putting the stipulation over during the opening package at the start of the PPV. You can feel the tension between the two during their entrances. I love how dominant Batista is for the majority of the match. He really tears Triple H apart, giving the heel exactly what he has coming to him. Triple H sells the beating perfectly, looking like he could pass out from blood loss at any moment. Eventually a dazed Triple H manages to put a stop to Batista's onslaught of offence by busting him open with a DDT in to a barbed wire chair. Even following this he still struggles to sustain any period of offence on The Animal, as they really put over the power and resilience of the champion at every available opportunity. The entire match just feels so gruelling, which is exactly what I want to see in a match like this. The finish is brilliant, and one of my all time favourites. It almost feels like the Batista Bomb is happening in slow motion as a half conscious HHH holds the sledgehammer above his head for what may be the deathblow in a last ditch effort to steal the match from his rival. Batista was still very inexperienced with main event level matches at this time, but he came through in a big way here, and was solidified as a main eventer for the rest of his career. Undoubtedly one of the best Hell in a Cell matches of all time.
6201.05.2023arrancar5.0Even more mediocre than I rememebered. This felt like every hardcore spot/interaction ever all rolled up into one match. Every single weapon attack and prop spot just came and went without ever being treated by either guy as a major chance to achieve victory, and there wasn't any overarching story or meaningful psychology to prop the match up either. The very few interactions here that actually still resembled 'wrestling' were just very bland and messy brawling exchanges, since otherwise this was just two guys throwing each other into things and hitting each other with things. They certainly did a lot of 'stuff' in this match, so I guess if that's your bar for hardcore-based matches then this was probably great, but this just felt totally generic and heartless to me. Nothing outright bad, but certainly nothing at all special. **1/2

7609.01.2023Jman79.0This was a brutal match and a fitting end to Batista and Triple H's rivalry. They hit each other with chains, the stairs, a sledgehammer, and a chair wrapped in barbed wire. The ending is perfect with HHH trying to use the sledgehammer, but Batista hits the Batista bomb before he can. ****3/4

9305.07.2022KENTAfan10.0Just an absolute war, and fittingly so for a blowoff to their rivalry. This was just so brutal and intense, full of twists and turns, it genuinely felt like they were trying to kill one another. So much brutality. Not sure what else I can say to describe it. Aside from being an insane match, this also established Batista as a top dog, moreso than even his original victory for the world title. HHH has definitely played a role in burying a lot of stars, but he's also made plenty of them as well, and this is a perfect example of that. This was a classic. One of the best cell matches of all time no doubt. *****
