Battle Royal Match 2022

[9.0] "I generally love battle royals if done well, and I felt this was done exceptionally well. The winners were not my favorite team but it fit well in the larger story they are telling, and the whole final stretch was really well put together."

[5.0] "It's slightly better than the one they'd do after this but the whole tag team royal thing was never really interesting to me to start with. Just feels like the tag division is mismanaged. There's just a lot of convoluted stuff surrounding that whole scene right now for me, the booking has been inconsistent."

[7.0] "That wasn't the smoothest but at least, that kept my interest all match long. That suffered for being a bit overlong. Things went fast at some moments as other one were a bit slow. The final minutes were pretty cool nevertheless. This had also some good storylines through the match."

[8.0] "A battle royale that kept me actively interested. Past storylines were acknowledged and future ones were teased. John Silver looked great and stood out to me."

[3.0] "Not a big fan of this one. The latter part was significantly better and started to feel like a real match, but the nonsense of the rest of the match was enough to overwhelm the match. The last few teams had some exciting storyline, the rest had a bullet point or two that neither the show nor the workers bothered to fill in the details. I'm not one of those viewers who dislikes when things get chaotic, but when the bulk of a match is nonsensical and I'm sitting there feeling like I'm just watching images fly past my eyes, that's a bigger sin to me even than bad wrestling. Developments that did happen in this match aren't particularly new for those who did get that but I had a good time with the tension of not knowing who was gonna pull it out between the last 6 or so people, but even that became quite obvious when it came down to 4 as it became clear it was going to be Kyle/Matt vs whoever is 3rd. This one was a bit of a fail for me but not awful to watch."

[7.0] "It fun and intriguing. As a result, Kyle turned out to be smarter and more resilient. I love when in such matches there are references to past confrontations. At the same time, it is clear that some plots are developing in the right direction. There are no complaints about the wrestling component, everything was great. John Silver is a real fighter, it's been a long time since he shone like that in the ring of a TV show. Santana tried to prove that he did not just leave Jericho, but again failed."

[8.0] "I think this was the best tag battle royale AEW have done from what I remember. I liked how we got so much in the way of actual normal wrestling action, after the lesser teams were eliminated, in addition to the normal trying to knock each other over the top rope constantly."

[6.0] "A solid enough battle royal. The first half was admittedly dull, but once the deadwood was gone, this noticeably became much, much better. The closing end of the bout in particular was great. [**3/4]"

[6.0] "It was okay the first half, a bit clumsy but never too bad. After, only 6 wrestlers or so were left, it got a lot better and the match became more coordinated and cohesive. The storytelling here was great and I am very much looking forward to Bucks Vs RedDragon which probably won't happen at Revolution but long term storytelling is what the Elite does best. ***"

[6.0] "A fine battle royale that had a handful of fun spots and a good choice for the winner. I liked that this didn't have the normal tag team battle royal rule of once partner is eliminated, both members of the team are gone. Santana and Silver were the main standouts."

[6.0] "At the beginning, there was a lot of disordination, but in the end, it was a very pleasant crowd fight, and we could see the victory of reDragon coming when there were less teams left on the canvas."

[6.0] "I'd rate this a 7 if the first half were good. Second half had a lot of fun stuff and callbacks from the tag division. Honestly, a lot of that stuff was much more exciting than the prospect of whatever the title match ends up being."

[6.0] "The first half was quite sloppy and underwhelming, but the second half of the match delivered. The twists and turns were intriguing, the sequences including Trent Berretta pretty much stole the show, and Dax Harwood continued to show why he is one of the best wrestlers in the game. Based on the good and the bad, I fall right in the middle at 3 stars, 6 out of 10."

[8.0] "This beyond sucked in the early goings, as a lot of AEW's BRs, especially tag BRs, do. But there were so many individual highlights from Harwood and KOR, Butcher, Santana and Beretta, and the closing stretches were genuinely exciting."

[7.0] "Started off as a regular battle royale with some nice moments, (Santana Eliminating the Assboys or Matt Hardy having tension with Private Party) but it certainly picks up in the latter part when there are only six wrestlers left. With the Bucks, ReDragon and Dark Order making a fun final three that set up nicely for the post match segment"

[7.0] "One of the finest (tag team) battle royal in the recent times. Very good match and very good booking."

[6.0] "Okay battle royal that picks up steam towards the end, the main focus of the Battle Royal was all about the YB and redraagon dynamic.***"

[7.0] "At first I thought this wasn't that good as it just seemed like a normal battle royale but your buddy could allow you to still win. However, once it got down to eight people or so it got much better and allowed for the development of multiple storylines going forward. The finish was exactly what needed to happen and sets up a great match at Revolution if next week ends how I think it will. ***1/2"

[8.0] "good battle royal with good booking. the final 6 were good with numerous stories all playing in one match"

[7.0] "A standard battle royale. There was really too much going on for the crowd to get really interested in it. But I like that REDragon won, and I can't wait for the match at Revolution."

[6.0] "Nice Battle Royal which had a lot of nice spots and Tag Work. It got better throughout the eliminations, and when we got to the final six, it got even better. Also, the bits of storytelling between reDRagon and Young Bucks was very nice and delivered well. Nice match. ***1/2"

[6.0] "It's a battle royale, I don't really like them that much. It did serve it's purpose furthering storylines and had the correct choice of winners so I can't complain too much."

[7.0] "The usual incoherent start to a battle royal, but when things got going it was a relly good match with more actual wrestling than expected from this type of match, genuine uncertainty over who would win, and some great stories being told or set up. A very good opening to the show."

[6.0] "Decent battle royal which furthered the tensions between the Young Bucks and reDRagon, and also helped build the World Championship match at Revolution. I liked some of the call backs involving the Bucks and FTR, and Best Friends and Santana and Ortiz."

[6.0] "Started very slow and sloppy with mediocre brawling all around the ring, but once the jobbers were tossed things became more coherent and interesting. Very impressed by John Silver here. The finish was predictable, but logical. Fine for what it was. [**3/4]"

[6.0] "One of the better Battle Royals i have seen, got over the stories extremely well which is the main thing"

[6.0] "It's started like a Battle Royal, a bit clumsy and a lot of uninteresting brawling going on in all four corners, but it picked up nicely with Private Party elimination. Some nice spots, some fan service to get pops and a good story telling with the final four having a lot of drama in it. Pretty well booked."
