Davey Richards vs. Zack Sabre Jr.

[7.0] "A very good match. Davey was the better wrestler here as his intensity and strikes were on point. Zack was still developing into a great wrestler around this time but he didn't look too out of place against Davey. His sudden transitions and striking were really good and they worked an exciting pace throughout the whole match. ***3/4"

[7.0] "Very technically good match. Davey Richards was great as always (though this wasn't really his best performance of all time). This was my first time seeing Zack Sabre Jr. in action and the guy showed promise, but goodness me he looked vanilla as hell here. He had some good technical moments (including transitions), but he was still very young and green. But he had some good moments to shine. There were some very cool moments through, but I didn't feel too invested in this match. Still, it was a pretty good showing, and it was a good match, overall."

[7.0] "Very good match, which isn't surprising if you're someone who enjoys both wrestlers' unique styles. Davey's strikes were great as always, and he carried himself with his typically physical and intense confidence that made him look like a total killer. Sabre back in 2011 was still incredibly lanky, but his technical wizardry was still great, especially when it came to his sudden transitions out of nowhere. Davey's grappling was pretty good as well, making for some fun exchanges as they went back and forth trading holds. Their strike-trades were even better, with both getting good impact on all of them, delivering quite a few with very flashy technique, and executing them at a really exciting pace. They definitely went the generic "epic" route with just how many repetitive 50/50 mirrored strike exchanges they had, but that didn't stop it all being very fun. That also at least meant that it felt big once they finally brought out some of their big non-strike moves, with their faster and faster pace and their smooth chemistry once again making for many exciting spots and exchanges. Their sudden counters just got more and more creative, and their resulting near falls likewise became more and more convincing. Both men throwing out their submissions in amongst all their other, faster-paced strike and power-move exchanges always made for a nice change of pace and likewise did well with constantly teasing a finish. Definitely one of the best matches of Sabre's early career. ***3/4"

[8.0] "This was the best match of ZSJ's career so far. Davey Richards did a good job of guiding Sabre. This was before Sabre was having matches of this quality on a regular basis. It was a surprisingly good match that was easily the best match of this event. Richards' kicks were stiff, and Sabre showed good technical wrestling ability."

[9.0] "An awesome earlier classic under the belt of Zack. This started steady with both guys doing some simple grappling and mat wrestling which Zack easily took control of rather quickly. Then when things got physical with strikes is when Davey started to take control. Of course since Davey was in the match things eventually turned into a move fest, but that wasn't a bad thing as it gave Zack a chance to make a mark at the expense of Davey. Zack tried his damn hardest trying to roll up Davey at every turn, but it was Davey's experience that was able to turn the tables on Zack and make Zack tap, ****1/2."
