[6.0] "Adam Cole and his bigger girlfriend fight Orange Cassidy and Kris Statlander, This match was fine, but it could have been a lot better. Cassidy doing his kicks on Britt was funny."
[6.0] "I have no idea if Cassidy & Statlander are a couple, but in-the-past they have certainly shown on-air chemistry even when she was a hotter commodity in '19-'20 she would be seen backstage/on the Bucks show warmly smiling at the Orange man. As was the case in PWG in the 10s, the Mount Rushmore guys won too-much; the case is the same here as this Best Friends/The Elite rivalry isn't much of as the faces can't seem to get the one-up-on. Even a face's 'revenge' on the Dr was more of chance than purposeful. Good match, more intricate than expected, but the BF ensemble are turning into (lovable? ) losers. 3 1/6"
[7.0] "2022 - really enjoyed this up until the finish. The low blow was seen as a dirty tactic done behind the ref's back but they were going to / did use a table. Really could have done without it. A 7 and 3.75 stars otherwise."
"The format is completely silly and outdated by sticking to traditional gender roles and "knight in shining armour" tropes. I think most people would prefer aew not do these at all if they aren't doing true mixed gender rules. These mixed tags are just used as story angle devices by having the proud woman stand in front of the man, begging to be hit; then the guy proves he's a bigger heel by doing it, or he doesn't and is instead distracted with the delayed response. They might be trying to gain a new following (maybe from their new lead-in) with co-op interaction, but the method is so corny."
[9.0] "This was great! Exceeded my expectations. Cole and Britt have that natural heel chemistry that you might expect of two people in a relationship. Kris and Orange were also very good. They are both excellent wrestlers with unique charisma that the crowd really loves. The destroyer by Britt on the outside followed by the Panama Sunrise by Cole was a nice touch. Great facial reactions from the heels. Awesome opener."
[7.0] "That was great fun. Hate between the two teams was here and they took the bumps for it. Funny spots there and there. Good to witness some intergender bouts in AEW. Nevertheless, Baker being the insecure girlfriend was a bit weird. She's gone throught that Lights Out with Rosa and she's the champ."
[5.0] "A tale of two matches here. One half of the match was filled with gimmicky BS, like Statlander booping Baker's nose and OC's shenanigans, and the intergender rules being followed only part of the time. The other half was a pretty good match, like Baker's Canadian Destroyer on the rampway and good sequences between Baker and Statlander in the ring. Baker and Cole have great chemistry as a duo, which I guess makes sense since they are a couple in real life. The ending was good, with OC accidentally knocking Baker through a table, then an enraged Cole lowblowing him and hitting him with his finisher. I wished that this was the end of the OC v Cole fued, since OC works best when he's up against more serious opponents than the goofy Adam Cole, but alas they've already booked a follow-up match for next week. I would've liked this better without the goofiness, and if this was treated as an actual mixed tag match instead of the competitors ignoring the rule that you can only hit the opponent of the same gender. Even commentary tried to cover it up by saying it was "referee's discretion"."
[8.0] "Pretty good match here, best on the show I'd say. I still get nothing out of Adam Cole but I felt everyone else did very well for themselves. I don't understand the point of teasing actual intergender wrestling if you don't have the guts to do it, but I understand not everyone sees it that way."
"Not a fan of mixed tag but this was fun. Statlander performed an amazing 450 splash and there were good bits of in ring action amid a lot of silliness and fun stuff."
[4.0] "Not good, I hate mixed tag matches, if AEW is fine with women doing table spots and hardcore wrestling, why couldn't they do normal wrestling, it would have been if it was an intergender tag match."
[8.0] "This was a fun match to watch. AEW has been quite serious and heavy lately, and with a match like this it was great to see the comedic side of Cole and Britt Baker. They did all their signatures and the crowd were really into this match. Thankfully there was no interference this time, especially after the last few weeks where we get YB or Fish/Kyle or even Hayter/Rebel buttting in."
[8.0] "A fun match. Although I don't like this genre of duels. It would be very cool if men could fight with women. Such exoticism is to my taste. Here they did everything possible to make us like the fight."
[7.0] "Fun-filled opener between these four. Cole & Cassidy are having an entertaining feud so far that might not be everyone's flavour but it's entertaining enough for a TV feud. This match had the comedic elements executed well and the action being solid and fluid. The facial expressions from Cole & Baker were great too. Surely excited for Cole vs Cassidy: Lights Out. 3.5 out of 5 stars!"
[4.0] "The two singles match going on at the same time format just sucks but they kept it mostly tight until the end when yet another table spot came into play."
[9.0] "I thought this match was rather exceptional. Adam Cole always proves his worth when the other guy kicks out, and this was what he did beautifully when Orange wouldn't go down to Panama Sunrise. Statlander reminded you how credible she is, and her run almost feels like a Lex Luger '97 thing, where it's not forced but it's cooking. Wouldn't mind seeing her get that AEW Women's title at some point this year. The table spot worked well. Adam and Britt brought it into the fray, but Orange turned it on them. Even though Cole got the win, it was not good enough. Now, he's teeing himself up for Cassidy to upset Bay Bay next week. Really fun match that I was happy to watch. I can't imagine that HHH doesn't see this performance from Cole and say to himself, 'wow, I did something right.' ****1/4"
[8.0] "This was a fun match where every competitor got to shine. Orange Cassidy and Kris brought great comedy and were good opponents for Cole and Baker. I'm wary of couples tagging but Baker and Cole work well together. They played into the fact they were a couple but also allowed each other to showcase their individual talents. The highlights to me were Cole and Baker's interactions, the OC/Stratlander combo moves, Britt's table bump, and Stratlander's area 251."
[6.0] "This was a fun match with the taunt-offs and I'm glad Statlander got a lot of shine. The ending stretch with the table spot was a bit clumsy and kind of lame though."
[7.0] "Statlander is the best. She was the best worker in this match, easily. Definitely one of the better Mixed Tag Rules matches I've seen as well, kept just within the rules but full of action. OC & Baker have their over shtick that was put into the match well too. Cole is there. Very fun opener. ***1/2"
[7.0] "Mixed tag is not a great format, and it's a shame AEW isn't willing to commit to and actual intergender match, but maybe they can't due to their TV contract... They did make the most of it though, starting with the expected comedy before moving into a pretty hard hitting match with some great spots. Probably the match of the night."
[6.0] "I bumped up against this a few times, mostly for production reasons. Why is the camera showing Baker standing on the floor, staring at Statlander and waiting patiently to be hit with a dive off of the apron' Why are the commentators talking over and over about rules that the wrestler's aren't following and the referee isn't enforcing' These are things that should be easy to avoid. The action was fine, but a little contrived."
[7.0] "This bout was at first a bit boring, then it started to pick up but hey, I give it this grade for the show and that it will finally give the fight between Orange Cassidy vs. Adam Cole next Wednesday."
[5.0] "Didn't flow perfectly but it's hard to given the format. Some good action but not super crisp. Stat destroyed herself on that destroyer, Britt wasn't even ready to jump. The table bump was meh. The 450 onto Cole and Britt was the highlight."
[7.0] "Not a big fan of this style of mixed tag but this was mostly a fun match Loved the Area 451 spot. Cole, OC and Statlander are all amazing while Baker is pretty good. The finish was kind of underwhelming and I would've like Best Friends to get a Win on this feud"
[8.0] "This was easily the best actual match on the show. Kris Statlander is so great, really want her to be champion soon. Adam Cole is also so great because he can be literally whatever and he's always good at it. Comedy, babyface, jerk heel. He's great at everything. Britt Baker is not for me."
[7.0] "I'm not a fan of the Cole Baker couple in the ring. I think this choice was made too early and to face the Edge Phoenix couple. The match was obviously good and told well, I find Orange boring but that's personal and subjective. Nice Britt's bump on the table and the ending, good job, but I hope the mixed matches are over, Adam Cole deserves more."
[7.0] "I was not satisfied with the type of match reservation at all, it happens very artificially and it has no charm, I really hate the relationship between husband and wife in the ring!"
[7.0] "This was a very solid match to open the show. Cassidy left most of the comedy behind after the first minute and displayed a ton of emotion. The women got some decent shine here, and their extended sequence in the middle of the match was very good. The last couple minutes had a very fast pace with a lot of big moves. The Britt table spot wasn't well built but it sets up next week's lights out match at least. Match of the night for sure. [***1/2]"
