[7.0] "This was a pretty good match. It's interesting to watch this match as when AJ Styles made his WWE debut, he completely bypassed NXT. He's only had 2 matches in NXT and this is his only singles match to date. Grayson Waller was one of the up and coming prospects and this match with AJ had been brewing for a few weeks by this point. This was a well executed match, with Waller looking like he would be able to beat AJ a couple of different times in the match. Though after a Pele Kick, AJ was able to hit the Phenomenal Forearm for the win. After the match, LA Knight returned and attacked Waller, leading to their match at NXT Roadblock. ***1/2"

You don't have many options other than having Styles win, as Waller isn't going to beat a former multiple time World Champion. The good thing is that there isn't any shame in Waller losing and he can continue to be the biggest pest on the show"

[5.0] "This was purely an okay match, nothing more than that. It's obvious that Grayson Waller has a good amount of potential, but as of right now, he's got a ways to go for sure. I really liked that sliding lariat to the outside of the ring that he did, but that was really the only thing that impressed me this match, aside from the occasional smooth AJ Styles move here and there. Speaking of Styles, he felt a bit uninspired this match, as most of his offense seemed to lack that extra oomph that makes it feel "Phenomenal." The length of this match seemed to work against it too, which is weird to say because it was only 14 minutes, yet it felt like it was 20. In the end, this was just alright. **1/2"

[7.0] "Very good main event. AJ Styles and Grayson Waller showed a great chemistry and we had the right result here. However, Grayson Waller is presented as a big project and isn't affected at all by this loss, considering how this match has been built. Some very good sequences between these two and overall a good rythm. Waller is a super talented heel. ***1/2"

[8.0] "These two have great in-ring chemistry and delivered a fantastic main event here. Styles had the experience factor but Waller stepped up and proved the doubters wrong here with his own share of offense that was apt & great as well as the selling being on point. Great match that lived up to the hype & build this one-off feud had. 4 out of 5 stars!"

[7.0] "AJ's persistent fast-pace and both gentlemen's athleticism made this Main Event a pleasing breeze to sit-through. I loved the beats, how smooth certain sequences were, ie Waller ducking the first 'phenomenal forearm' crawling outside, somersaulting back-in, AJ not out-of-place nor doltishly giving away the next spot, in-perfect position for Waller's stunner, the timing perfect. Really solid 3 1/3"

[8.0] "High-octane main event between Styles and Waller here which I really liked and which was clearly up to my expectations, on Monday when I looked at the week's program I said to myself that the match I was most looking forward to was certainly this one and I was not at all disappointed as the content offered was truly excellent. Nothing amazing or incredible but it was exactly what it was supposed to be with solid action from the first minute to the last, they had a natural chemistry together as they're both very good workers and they offered us some super smooth stuff. Frankly I don't know why we don't talk more about Waller who for me is a very good wrestler, both between the ropes & with a mic and he's surely the best character since the reboot of NXT last September. It was also good to see Styles perform like that again after a complicated year alongside Omos, I love some babyface AJ."

[7.0] "This was a decent match, both guys are extremely talented and Waller has a great future, but it's hard to see how losing to Styles helps him. It's hard to see how Styles moving to NXT helps him, either."

[8.0] "I'm very excited to see AJ Styles in NXT 2.0. I'm a big fan of his and it's great that he's helping young talent at this point in his career. Rightfully AJ won, but Grayson comes out of this match much improved. A match that started off slow but over time was good, AJ is a safety but Grayson followed him well. Fantastic return of LA Knight, even though it was in the air. Good, now let's see what the future holds for AJ and Grayson, but very happy with how this feud went."

[7.0] "No this was not AJ Styles' first NXT match, he showed up in November 2019 with The OC against Keith Lee, Matt Riddle and Tommaso Ciampa, but this was his first NXT singles match, and he guided Grayson Waller to a good ***1/4 bout. Waller would benefit from NXT 2. 0 having a house show loop, but sadly for him they aren't going back to those."
