Deonna Purrazzo vs. Mickie James

[10.0] "I'm really surprised that this match is only rated around 6, for me it's definitely solid 10. Everything just clicked here, they got the main event (first ever knockouts me of TNA PPV btw) they got almost 20 minutes and the incredible story behind them. Some spots were really brutal, especially those with thumbtacks. The rule with 10 count can sometimes make match look slow but here i feel it was executed very well and there was no moments like this. I also love how brutal they were with each other (both were bleeding after first half), the constant trash talk and "f**k you's" they were showing throughout the match also added the drama. Rehwoldt appearance was nicely done and the spot with the guitar was awesome. Mickie is still champion after brutal MickieDT and is going to Royal Rumble. One of my favorite matches in TNA history and i highly recommend watching. *****"

[7.0] "I thought this was actually really good, have no idea why it has such a low rating, it was thrilling and compelling as fuck."

[5.0] "I really wanted to like this match because I'm a big fan of both Mickie and Deonna but this was just really sloppy. A lot of the major spots were botched or looked weak. Though having said that there were a few fun spots like Mickie's Thez press to the floor and the tack bumps."

[6.0] "Pity, the weakest matches of the night are given by the women. Nevertheless, like the Ultimate X, that wasn't bad as this wasn't great too. James and Purrazzo took all the risks here but that wasn't the smoothest. Good spots but that wasn't crazy as a Texas Death is. Both women looked strong, nevertheless, and that counted a lot. Moreover, I didn't understand the 3-count before each 10 one."

[6.0] "A fine performance but felt underwhelming in relation to their feud and the other hardcore matches on this show."

"7.5/10 is my rating for this match. This match had some botches but generally, both wrestlers tried too much, and generally the match was pretty good."

[5.0] "This match was hurt greatly by the stipulation and being the third hardcore match in a row. Even with those caveats it was pretty sloppy at points and didn't have the needed intensity/story to overcome the Texas Death Match stipulation. A plain No DQ match would have been much better, because Mickie and especially Deonna aren't good brawlers. Credit to them for trying and taking a couple thumbtack bumps but this was not good."

[6.0] "Perfectly fine hardcore outing, but something about this match felt flat when all the others delivered to a T. Dragged down the show in the mind of a lot of people, which isn't entirely fair, but having the weakest match of the night be the main event is a rather deflating thing to do. Maybe it was because all of the best brutality had happened in the Hardcore War and the World Title three-way, or maybe it was because the Texas Deathmatch is largely unknown these days and thus confused some of the crowd. All I know is, this should have been better."

[8.0] "Really Good Match! These 2 more than delivered in the main event, which this feud definitely deserved. Other than a couple botches, everything else was really good. We got some damn good brawling & brutal spots, as well as blood. If that was the end of their feud, than they ended it in a great way!"

[6.0] "Deonna, why is this so unprofessional! Mickey played the match with dignity. There are too many clumsy techniques.The type of match is interesting!"

[3.0] "This was a mess and not in a good way like hardcore matches can be. Blown spots with weapons and moves and just unconvincing stuff from both Deonna and Mickie."

[5.0] "This is more of a fun match than it is a "good" match to me. It has its flaws; botches here and there with some of the most memorable moments being the most embarrassing ones (the entire sequence of Mickie getting the last fall over Deonna). With that said however, a lot of the negative takes I see for this, more often than not, tell me more about people's inexperience with the rules of a Texas Deathmatch. Apparently, it's unrealistic to see wrestlers getting pinned or submitted so early on for a stipulation where pins and submissions alone can't win someone the match. If you get pinned, you have 10 seconds to recover before the referee can even start a count. If you tap out, it requires the referee to break the hold before a count may start. I guess staying in a submission hold for minutes on end, with no legal rope breaks allowed, and for a match that only ends with a 10 count is what makes sense to them."

[9.0] "We're at that point now that more and more women are being considered veterans and their names are of big importance. Mickie James is an absolute star. Her presence, her acting and her ability to get her emotions across is superb. Combine that with Purrazzo's persona and stiffness and you get a brutal, yet dramatic match and a compeling story. The pace was great with the stunts being more spectuacular as time passed. The very close proximity of the cameras helped and everything sounded so hard hitting. Rehwoldt's involvement was an interesting plot point that I want to see developed at the next episode. Finally, the ending was fantastic. Overall, a great way to close a PPV. A hardcore match as it should be."

[7.0] "Worthy main event. Probably one of the matches I was excited for most. Mickie James is in her early 40s and she's doing hardcore matches like she's megumi kudo, mad respect to her. I wished Deonna had won as I know with Mickie appearing at the Rumble as Impact womens champ is something Impact want to do. Both Deonna and Mickie were bleeding which looked cool as a visual. It took some time for me to get used to the Texas Deathmatch rules as these were precise rules but by the halfway point, I got what the rules were. The rules made it a different kind of Deathmatch you'd see in other promotions as it's usually just a hardcore match with the term 'Deathmatch' used to make it seem more than a hardcore match. Deonna and Mickie had good chemistry. They did botch a few things and I loved Brian Hebner actively dodging chairs being thrown into the ring, however intentional it may be. 3.5 stars."

[6.0] "This match was sloppy and the finish wasn't that good. They tried many things, but with there having already been a good hardcore match before this, this didn't have the same impact. 6/10"

[6.0] "I'm not a fan of these rules compared to regular Last Man Standing rules but I thought the match was decent enough until about the table spot. Things took a turn for the weird and messy from there and it spoiled the final few minutes. Not only did the piledriver kind of miss but the finish looked weak (and was maybe meant to land on the tacks but didn't), on top of Deonna busting out a crotch claw in the blow-off of a blood feud. She literally grabbed her by the pussy as part of the ending stretch. I don't know how else to say it. That moment added a whole new meaning to "Hardcore Country"."

[7.0] "Great brawl between these two iconic women that ruled the Knockouts Division for a while. Both had a great build to their rivalry and this was a much better pay-off than expected. But still, this really didn't reach the "main event" caliber either because of the exhaustion of No DQ matches so far/missteps in certain spots of this bout. Setting those aside, these women put a herculean effort and entertained us with a hectic war that suited this feud with a result that changes history soon! 3.5 out of 5 stars!"

[8.0] "Brutal showdown in this main event between Deonna Purrazzo and Mickie James which completely surprised me because I didn't expected something so violent at all, just because nobody knew they were going to be in the main event so of course I didn't have very high expectations but I still managed to be surprised and there's nothing better than that feeling when you watch wrestling. Mickie and Deonna not only wrote the history of this company by being the first girls to main event a PPV around the Knockouts Championship, but they also delivered a fantastic hardcore match with an original rule that only this federation can offer us. Big spots, violence, blood, intensity, suspense, thumbtacks, chairs, tables, guitars, Piledrivers... everything was there and it was a lot of fun. These two women are real warriors and didn't hesitate to take hards bumps so they deserve credit for that, they had the chance to close the show and proved that they deserved it. The result makes me happy because Mickie will enter in the Royal Rumble with her Knockouts title and that's something pretty huge."

[6.0] "A great idea that sadly missed the mark. The rules were laid out just fine but still came across as confusing; Deonna gets 3 falls on Mickie within the first third of the match I guess to make her look good before losing, but it made Mickie look pretty weak. They both worked pretty hard and got brutal but there was just not a high gear for this match, despite Mickie tossing out the chaps and blading. I think Mickie retained because of the Rumble thing but the original plan was Deonna, which in turn was why this main evented the PPV. I'm more excited for Deonna and/or Mickie vs Rok-C than Mickie in the Rumble honestly. ***"

[7.0] "Good Match and I can say just good ! Deonna is absolutely amazing and I enjoyed to see her in the main event"

[8.0] "The match in itself was really fun, but I think it lost a good part of its value to many fans due to being the 3rd match in the card featuring blading, with more restraint, it would have been more impactful. That being said, I think it's underrated, it had a good pace which is rare with this stipulation, many nice spots, and benefited from a good hype around Mickie."

[5.0] "Texas death match rules are always a killer and never really work. It did not help that result was telegraphed by WWE announcing Mickie James as impact champion for the rumble"

[6.0] "Third hardcore match in a row and it's already been too much, especially as here too they tried far too many things and there were even more botches, some even at important moments in the match. Ideally they would have ended with a classic wrestling match, but instead they got too complicated."

[6.0] "The match stipulation severely affected the match quality here, as you had to pin your opponent and then keep them down for a ten count. All that does is show that top stars can be easily beaten. Not only that, but Rok-C played a supporting role in the match, and the result doesn't do her any favours as she's likely losing to Deonna Purrazzo who just lost to Mickie James. They were victims here of Impact overthinking the match stipulation, not the first time they've done that."

[7.0] "Great women's match. One of the best women's Impact matches in a long time. Probably since the days of Purrazzo-Grace. To tell the truth, it's not bad to see such a hardcore match from women, especially if in impact. ***1/2"
