[2.0] "I'm not that big of a fan of this match, Jade was still too inexperienced at the time to be holding singles gold just yet and it should've been Ruby winning the belt for the first time, considering just how much momentum she had since debuting in AEW back then."
[2.0] "I think it was the Dallas WMania weekend from '16, was it, where I attended a Shimmer event in-which the finals of the tournament was Lovelace/Nicole Savoy. The latter at-the-time was the latte flavour of the month, and presumably a big-star of-the-future, so she won. Afterwards I recall walking by Dave Prazak and murmuring, 'always the bridesmaid, never the bride.' Well, history does have a history of repeating itself. But if she wasn't able to get as good of a match out-of Jade as did T Rosa, perhaps she's not deserving of that role either. All I know is that this stunk! Like 'Verse84' wrote, at-least after she had a passable match with TR, make her like Goldberg. Too-much of this would test the patience of even the most 'woke' of fans. I wish Jade's background was in dance so she would have a better intuitive feel of how to move within the ringspace. 1"
Knappe 4 Punkte"
[1.0] "Why was Jade's win so f**king telegraphed by showing her kid and also isn't she supposed to be the heel? And the match was laughably sloppy and boring"
[5.0] "I don't get the low rating the match was fine, it wasn't some amazing 5 star match but it still did the job. The only problem I had with it was the stupid interference in it."
[6.0] "This match was totally fine, the low ratings are unwarranted. It was not great, but perfectly acceptable as the 1st TBS title match. Jade is still green, but she is improving and clearly has star potential so the push is very understandable. She needs more ring time and longer matches, but I think she will grow into the role. Crowd got into it towards the end."
[5.0] "This wasn't a masterclass, far from it, but I don't think it warrants a 3.63. Yes Jade is very green and not at all smooth yet, but I was expecting a trainwreck of a match and that's not what I saw. It was OK. **1/2"
[1.0] "Incredibly sloppy match. Both women seemed lost in the ring and the awful finish to the match really summed it all up in which Jade seemed to forget how her own finisher works fundementally and Ruby had to attempt to guide her through this second rope variant to ill effect. Adding insult to injury we now have a champion who is green as hell, has shown little to no progress in the past year (though I'm not sure how much improvement we could expect from someone who wrestles exclusively squash matches) and really doesn't inspire confidence going forward with this title reign. If we're lucky it will be short lived, but likely we'll be subject to more 20 seconds squashes to pad her stats or have to suffer through a collection of drawn out botch fests until they decide to put the title on someone that can actually go in the ring, and Jade can go back to dark and hopefully obtain the experience she so desperately needs."
[5.0] "While not being the greatest match, it was effective in telling its story. Jade and Ruby worked decently well together n if it wasn't for the sloppy ending, the match might've been regarded better."
[3.0] "A very clumsy and sloppy match. I get wanting to make Jade a force in the Women's division, but she isn't ready and shouldn't be put in any real matches yet."
[4.0] "I think the score for this match is adequate but the comments are way too harsh. It was far from a good match, don't get me wrong, but I think they understood that a grappling contest was never gonna go well in this so went for strike based offense for a long stretch which I think worked. It was quite boring all in all and the finish was pretty lame cuz of execution, but overall it isn't as bad as the comments make it out to be. Far from the worst match I've ever seen"
[3.0] "They tried, I felt all the efforts made but that was clumsy. Cargill has THE presence but stills green as fuck. That's the only thing I didn't like about her. You feel she's a rookie. Soho was a good babyface here but the interventions didn't helped either. I hope Cargill will improve after this, she needs it."
[3.0] "I will write sincerely - the tournament disappointed. The winner is still very green. Cargill is not confident in the ring, clumsy, there are almost no techniques and the main technique seems weak. She's a star, but we need to work on the skill. I don't think she can handle the role of champion."
[8.0] "Title was like making for Jade. This fight me have disappointed Ruby more than Jade. Ruby's pace and technique failed this evening. Jade's power and shine was the difference."
[2.0] "Jade Cargill isn't bad for her experience level and this match isn't her fault, but it is what it is. There were moments where it looked really rough but to their credit it never went completely off rails. Still, just not something that should be on TV or certainly not for a championship match."
[7.0] "I guess I enjoyed this more than others, at least to me seemed definitely better than the Thunder Rosa match. I figured Jade would win and I wish her well but I can't say she's really won me over yet. Nice moment with her daughter though, even if she is a heel."
[6.0] "Ruby carried Jade to a decently entertaining match. While Jade was very clunky, she wasn't terrible, and though it may be too early for her to be a champion, losing would've killed all of her momentum, kind of reminds me of Goldberg back in WCW. I'm thinking people are way overhating on this, there wasn't anything terrible or any botches, just a little clunky."
[6.0] "I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this. Sure Jade is inexperienced and the work wasn't as smooth as it could have been but it was still an enjoyable match with an innovative finish"
[3.0] "The greeness and inexperience of Jade Cargill is visible when she is being put in a long match. While I appreciate the athleticism and potential that Cargill possess, she needs to step up as the inaugural TBS Champion. She is a part of a women's locker that includes talented wrestlers like Deeb, Thunder Rosa, Kris Satalander, etc. She was chosen to represent the network and while I do appreciate the star aura she possess, a match of this quality ain't gonna cut it. Jade Cargill winning was the right move. *3/4"
[3.0] "The right person won, but that didn't the psychology of the match work. On top, in some spots it was sloppy (namely the finisher from the ropes) and that made clear that Jade is still somewhat green. Yet it was a good effort from both and let's hope that Jade can carve a good title reign even with this rocky start. The positioning on the card and the time given didn't also help to sell the importance of this match."
[3.0] "3 - Jade's green-ness was plain to see. It's in her maneouvering around the ring, from spot to spot, she hasn't yet got a feel for what to do in the dead space. It just looks like she's so tightly following a script that it breaks the immersion."
[0.0] "one of the worst matches I saw in my life, totally wrong person to win the title, Ruby since arriving at AEW was not as good as people expected her to be."
[5.0] "A fairly meh match that had a few cool moments. I liked seeing Jade win the title and it was cool to see her daughter cheering her on in the crowd."
[4.0] "The tournament ended with one of the favourites winning and a uninteresting finals, unfortunately. I've severely rooted for Ruby vs Thunder after seeing their short run in the Casino Battle Royal at All Out. Jade is still far from a very formidable wrestler and this title run might go either ways - improve her or stay That B**ch of Sloppiness. 2.25 out of 5 stars!"
[1.0] "An incredible high wire act between these two where everything looked like it was on the brink of going terribly wrong but saved only by their super slow movement and inability to actually commit to anything."
[3.0] "Not a great match and while from a business standpoint I can understand the decision but in a company that prides itself on being a professional wrestling company this makes no sense. Jade's lack of skill in the ring was exposed in the triple threat she had with Rosa and Nyla and since then she hasn't shown much improvement. She's like a model trying to play wrestler, some things she does in the ring make no sense and pulls me out of kayfabe as it always looks like shes moving from spot to spot and does not make the match flow at all. She needs to be booked in short matches that hide her lack of skill & experience until she has improved. Ruby on the other hand is a natural in the ring but even she wasn't able to hide Jade's poor wrestling sense."
[1.0] "I would venture that this is the worst match in the history of the company, honestly I am not surprised. From the beginning I thought it was a good idea to have a secondary championship for people like Statlander or Hirsch you know people who are in the middle of the card at the moment. But when I realized the inordinate push they were giving Cargill I felt something was fishy. And well this match reflects what smelled bad. Jade since she debuted has not improved at all, just the looks help you a little bit and that's it. I hope her reign is short but I'm afraid it won't be. Too bad for Ruby but I guess Brandi will have to get her way at some point. Oh and you don't know how I'm looking forward to Jade vs Brandi."
[3.0] "It came down to this. Jade is green as grass but I don't blame her for taking the opportunity. You've got to shift the blame onto Khan for allowing this to happen. The fact that half of this tournament had byes and that the greenest wrestler in the division won because she has a good look reflects poorly on the division. Jade does have a good look but she's not ready for this level and this match showed it."
[3.0] "*1/2 It was bad. Poor Jade is trying but she is far too green, and I hope I'm wrong but she will not be a good champion. Ruby tried to carry her but she failed. Hopefully she moves into better things."
[6.0] "I must have seen a different match from most people. I've seen worse wrestlers a year in than Jade Cargill, she was more than capable on her end, and Ruby Soho did a good job leading her through the rest. Sure I'd have rather seen Ruby as the first champ, but Jade wasn't bringing her daughter along to see her lose. It was fine for what it needed to be, but it certainly wasn't terrible."
[3.0] "I wanted to like this match. Ruby Soho is one of my favorite wrestlers and Jade Cargill has all of the tools to one day be the face of the division. There were certainly some high points, including the brawl between Thunder Rosa and Mercedes Martinez, and the selling by Soho. I would not call this a bad match, but instead one that was just a bit clunky and rough around the edges. Either way, nice to have a TBS Champion."
[4.0] "Jade looks like a star so I get why she won the "secondary" title. The belt even looked designed for how she rolls. But this wasnt a match to say "a title was won here" with pride. I'm glad AEW are building their own stars but she really needs to work more. The Rosa match and this one really exposed how she cant work past a squash yet. I think this was a bit early but whatever I guess."
[4.0] "This really showed how much Rosa carried the Rosa v Jade semifinal match. Going forward they need to keep Jade to squashing or working with the absolute top veterans, she isnt ready for even matches yet. With that being said, the match wasn't THAT bad. A bit slow, a bit awkward, and a cool planned finish although it ended up sloppy."
[2.0] "Unfortunately, this was awful. Cargill simply isn't good enough to wrestle at this level, and Soho was unable to carry her to a decent looking match. Everything Jade did looked sloppy apart from a couple of kicks, and the finish was dangerously botched despite Ruby trying to call it for Jade. Putting the belt on a horrendously green new wrestler just because they have a good look is something AEW had avoided until now, and it's one of their worst decisions to do it. Hopefully someone better will win it soon."
[2.0] "Usually I'm pretty lineant with these matches with greener people but this was a title match so I'm not going to be lineant at all. This was really bad and Jade is clearly not ready to have matches longer than 5 minutes nevermind hold a championship. Terrible decision that's going to hurt an already weak women's division. *"
[5.0] "Sloppy, but not terrible. The first half was oddly slow and not everything was crisp, although the weirdest part was the dynamic. Jade didn't really work like a heel as much, and I felt like that was because her family was front row. Ruby had some fire and bumped pretty well but this isn't her best match as of late. The outside stuff was meh too. Cool finish though. **1/4+"
[2.0] "Jade might be an incredible athlete with a great look, but she looks so awkward and she wrestles like she has two left feet. Not even the interference could distract from how exposed Jade felt. Soho did what she could, by selling the emotion of the match, but she's no miracle worker and the match was abysmal."
[4.0] "Ruby tried to work the match properly and sold everything Jade gave her, but Cargill is still too green for her position on the card. Good thing at least she didn't botch the finish."
[2.0] "Spätestens nach diesem Match sollte klar sein, dass Cargill noch lange nicht bereit für einen Gürtel ist. Das war echt schwer anzuschauen und das obwohl Soho mit dabei war. (*)"
[6.0] "This was perfectly fine. Jade is in a tough spot because very few women have ever had to have literally all their first matches be televised. I liked the fact she thought on her feet and decided to do her finish from second rope when she tried and failed for top rope, showed she did not panic and improvised"
[3.0] "I'm giving this a 3 because Ruby worked really hard to carry the match. Everything she did was on point, and her selling of the shoulder was great. Jade, on the other hand, was like the inverse, where everything she did looked terrible. There's a moment early on where Jade is out of place for a spot, so she runs over to the correct position and then just stands there. It looked really awkward and unnatural. I'm not sure why Jade didn't go after the shoulder more to give the match more of a story. I also have no idea why they had Ruby lose here since anyone watching could clearly see she was the better wrestler of the two."
[2.0] "Heading into this match I thought Jade Cargill had improved enough to be championship material. Halfway through this match, I realized she was not. Almost every move she hit was awkward, uncoordinated, or a botch. Ruby did her best and I must praise her for that, but this match was far from adequate, especially as the conclusion to the TBS tournament."
[2.0] "Ruby tried hard to have a decent match with Jade, but she is nowhere near the level to have a good match. Thank god Jade didn't manage to get to the top rope for the finish or we could have had another nasty moment."
[5.0] "It's fine, if bland. Nothing really stood out, and it was weird to expect much more with how green Cargill currently is, while Ruby not being a miracle carry worker. My only real question is - why does AEW need to have a midcard women's title' The promotion is 3 years old and at this point is yet to deliver a single amazing women's champion, a single truly great women's match or a women's division storyline that would be interesting. They have a thin roster in that division and struggle to provide meaningul opponents with any compelling storylines to their main champion. This is not the time to get a second belt, at least in my point of view of a fan."
[2.0] "In my opinion AEW is not good in women wrestling as men wrestling. lots of average match. But this is one of the worst match I ever seen in AEW"
[5.0] "Frankly, Jade Cargill isn't ready to hold a singles title, especially when AEW currently has access to great talent like Hikaru Shida, Serena Deeb, Emi Sakura, and Riho, along with good to very good wrestlers like Mercedes Martinez, Ruby Soho, Nyla Rose, Kris Statlander, Leyla Hirsch, Thunder Rosa, and Tay Conti. But Khan obviously sees potential in her, and she certainly does have some natural charisma. She managed to have a pretty average match with Soho, and hopefully she will gain more experience and improve during her title reign. **1/2"
[4.0] "Jade Cargill is not suitable for the championship at all, she does not have the ability to give good matches and she has to give up the title very soon."
[5.0] "It wasn't great but i've rated it ** 1/4 so i have to round up to 5. Jade is in to deep they've thrown her and shes to far gone to not spotlight her. This match was a bit of stinker"
[1.0] "Just a really bad match and performances from both Jade and Ruby here. At times it looked like they were running drills on basic moves for the first time. Jade winning was the right call but keep her matches short and impactful."
[6.0] "This is going to get a ton of hate because "Ugh, Ruby should have won, Jade sucks, this was a botch fest", etcetera. I thought it was a perfectly acceptable match. There were a few sloppy moments here and there but it mostly went by fine. Jade kicking out of the Riott Kick and the fact her daughter was in attendance kind of spoiled the result, but I think Jade going over is the right call. Whichever babyface wins the belt from her will get a massive rub, and in the mean time Jade can go on to wrestle a wider array of talent while improving in the ring. Hopefully having this belt around gets the women more TV time but I have my doubts. [**3/4]"
