Battle Royal Match 1993

[4.0] "I remember this one vividly from back in the day. Good final 4 between Shawn and Razor against Tatanka and Tito and Shawn gets tossed which doesn't look good for Razor. Until the Giant Gonzalez comes out and parks his big hairy ass on the fun and Razor bails out so Gonzalez mauls the good guys and tosses them. Razor wins by default. Finish was kinda shitty but Razor celebrating was so douchey in a likeable way."

[3.0] "Kamala chasing Kim Chee out the ring was a fun element. Michaels, Tatanka, Santana, and Ramon as the final 4 had some potential but was cut short. This match was confusing as there were no stakes, and served to highlight Giant Gonzalez' run-in which is just disappointing given how talented some of the workers are here and how poor the Giant is as a wrestler."

[3.0] "I mean the battle royal was alright and the final four showed some good wrestling, but the finish of the battle royal served no real purpose other than trying to get Gonzalez over before Mania. Kamala and Kim Chee had some fun interactions throughout."

[0.0] "A nothing of a match that felt like it severed zero purpose other than trying to make Gonzalez look good. Guessing rather than try make Gonzalez look good in a squash they would rather run a pointless battle royal that Gonzalez isn't even in so he can interfere."

[1.0] "I have only one question: Why? What was it for? There was nothing at stake here, and simply getting half the roster together for an unusual type of match was optional. When there were 4 participants left, at least I saw something similar in wrestling, and it made me give this match a rating, but overall it is a pointless waste of time that takes up a third of the episode. Moreover, winning the fight did not give Ramon anything, because it was also overbooked. As well as Gonzalezs interference, which made no sense at all here, because the Undertaker never came out, and he was not in the match."

[3.0] "This was pretty dull until the final four, which is decent enough. I usually enjoy the idea of a battle royal more than the actual match and this is a bit of a waste of talent just to put over Giant Gonzalez. An impressive looking guy, but an all time bad angle."

[2.0] "This was a pretty shitty battle royal, which was a shame considering some of the talent in this. Before this match, there was a segment where Mean Gene explained how Giant Gonzalez was barred from this match; which doesn't make a difference since he shows up here to sabotage the match. At least Razor got the win here."

[3.0] "Yeah I can't say there was anything exciting to watch here. Perhaps the end with Giant Gonzalez but even that was underwhelming. Meh."

[7.0] "This is fun. While it drags a little bit in the middle it always has some movement and the Kamala vs Kim Chee stuff is incredible with Kamala chasing Chee through the building. Final 4 are good and Giant Gonzalez run in is again super fun and gives this a very strong final."

[2.0] "Nothing actually happened in this match of any notice. The Giant Gonzalez came in and tore things up which was a boring end to a very uneventful match."

[2.0] "I'm not a fan of battle royals to begin with, much less one with nothing on the line that lasts 15 minutes and is nothing but a set-up for Giant Gonzalez to come down and throw a couple of guys out in 30 seconds in the end. Really? This was pointless and didn't make anyone look good. Razor Ramon "won" but this was all about putting Giant Gonzalez over heading into WrestleMania. A giant (no pun intended) waste of 15 minutes of television time. [1/2*]"

[1.0] "This was a terrible match that made everyone involved look worse. The finish was cheap and the presentation disorganized. The Kamala/Kim Chee stuff didn't get over as the whole Kamala turn has been a flop. (1/2*)"

[4.0] "I'm not a huge fan of battle royals, but at the same time there's something about them that I like. As for the match, it was immediately clear that it was made more for entertainment. Well, and to show what a tough and unstoppable Giant Gonzalez is, because of course we haven't understood that yet. The fans gathered in the arena, I think, were interested to see 16 people fighting against each other, especially at the time. It would have been cooler, if the winner had received some sort of prize, otherwise the victory can be considered useless."

[4.0] "This was an extremely dull battle royal where hardly anything interesting happened at all. I don't remember anyone coming out of it looking good in one bit, aside from maybe Razor Ramon, who at least was the correct winner. [*3/4]"

[4.0] "A pretty boring battle royal. There are no stakes which makes it pointless already and there weren't a lot of exciting moments or stories in the match. They tried to make Giant Gonzales look more strong with that attack but no one really cares. [**]"

[5.0] "This was an average battle royal, where it started slow but then kicked up later on. I have never been a big fan of battle royals but this one was not bad!"

[6.0] "The first half of the match is slow and boring, with too few eliminations and the usual punchy kicky offence, but once things pick up it becomes surprisingly good. Kamala chasing Kim Chee around the Manhattan Center is awesome. The closing section is great too. Shawn's overselling during his beatdown from Tatanka and Tito had me busting a gut."
