Gary Albright & Steve Williams vs. Johnny Smith & Wolf Hawkfield

[5.0] "Clipped into a few minutes as apart of a compilation video. Dear God, what's with Smith and Hawkfield having draws with the best tag teams here? Were they trying to push these guys as the next big Gajins on the block or something? Much like with the Misawa/Akiyama bout, the main issue with this is legitimacy: there's no way you buy two relatively mid-card acts going toe to toe with incredibly well booked talent, and as such, you have to really suspend your disbelief here. This has Hawkfield try to head for the top rope, but Albright catches his leg and Williams manages to pull out a sensational top rope suplex. He seems to be out, but we'd never know if he would have been beaten as the bell rings just as the count starts. There's really not enough to judge here, but from what's left, this seemed like a middle of the road match, in all honesty. Can't rate it but I can't imagine it would've been very high anyway. (update) found the ENTIRE 30 minute match off some random Japanese YT channel. More you know, I suppose. I did appreciate Smith and Albright doing some pseudo-UWF grappling to start off but we quickly go into obvious stalling with Williams and Hawkfield doing shit like tests of strength and shoulder press sequences. In all fairness Smith and co do fine with the pacing, and it's a interesting dynamic having the Triangle here be on the backend of the younger guys. Middle section continues with the two working on Albright for a while with some very middling stuff, wasn't particularly impressed. Albright hurls out some good suplexes, with even Williams getting a powerslam on the outside. Smith gets worked on for essentially the last third with more working holds, with Hawkfield coming in only to break up them on occasion. Hawkfield comes in for a ehhh hot tag, with some really weak moves being thrown out. Albright also seems pretty sloppy when throwing out a backdrop. Williams comes in and we get some near fall teases that the crowd fairly bite for, which leads to the above. Yeah.....old me was right. There are some decent bits here and there but this just felt like a slog. Way too long, everyone bar Smith was feeling it as well. As much as I love Williams he's very obviously not where he used to be, and Albright doesn't really carrying the workload a ton bar his usual awesome suplexes. Idk, this whole Hawkfield/Smith push just felt contrived and immensely undeserving."
