He dominated for most part of the match constantly beating Tyler down and tried to stop him from making any sort of comeback attempt. But Tyler never backed down and kept coming back valiantly playing his part as a babyface flawlessly. Tyler getting busted open added to the intense big fight feel. The second half of the match was amazing with both guys doing everything to get the win. There were many amazing and brutal, bloody spots and the ending was amazing with Tyler making Steen tap out. This is perhaps the best 1v1 match they ever had. |

Steen's heel work was great as he beat down on Black over and over. Black was a fantastic fiery babyface, in return, coming back and not backing down. The first half of this match had some really good action, but the second half was when things got really nasty. Black got busted open and Steen was destroying him, but then the babyface came back. The double stomp off the top rope and through the table on the outside was sick as hell. Steen was a bloody mess and Black finally managed to tap him out. No wonder these guys were both top guys in the WWE half a decade or so from now. This was awesome. |

Really loved Steen's heel work throughout the match. The slap to the face, the trash talk, and of course him busting open Tyler was awesome. He elevated the early stages of match far beyond mediocre with his tremendous work on top. Tyler gave a fantastic selling performance and had some fiery comebacks of his own. Great performance from him as well. The second half of the match is sort of a 50/50 bombfest with both guys no selling a lot of moves and kicking out of each others finishers. I absolutely loved it because of the intensity and technique they had behind their offense. There was some vicious stuff. Tyler's double stomp to Steen's face through the table was incredible and the spot of the match. Quality stuff. Not too far behind Steen's matches with Generico. ****1/2 |

Him opening up the match with that stiff sounding SLAP was great, and it very well set the table up for what was about to come in the next 20+ minutes. Steen is awesome on top, delivering a beating to Tyler & even bloodying him up -- eventually Steen himself gets his face bloodied, and I gotta say that both of them rocking that color definitely made this match even more memorable than it already was. Tyler's babyface performance is also all kinds of very good w/ him busting out some awesome hope spots, comeback flurries & he sold for Steen's beatdown quite well, gaining that sympathy of the crowd. It's a great match, and probably one of the best singles ones of both men's ROH careers. |

Schon eine blutige Schlacht zwischen den beiden. Steen auch wieder total fies und schon etwas eklig als er das Blut von Black sich auf sein Gesicht reibt und ableckt nun so ist Steen halt. Gute Chemie, überhaupt keine Langweile, schöne Dramatik auch mit den Blut, Spannung und starke Schluss-Phase (***1/4). Edit: 09. 03. 2020 Bei Rewatch noch besser gefunden, darum von 7 auf 8 Punkte rauf und (***1/2). |

So richtig normal Heel ist der ja auch nicht. Verrückt ist er, durchgeknallt, ruchlos, zumindest ist es geil, was er daraus macht. Als er dann das Blut von Tyler auf seinem eigenen Gesicht verreibt und leckt und dann später selbst blutet und beide echt verschmiert sind kommt diese Schlacht echt krass rüber. Nicht das beste Wrestling, aber eine sehr gute Geschichte mit Drama und Herz, so mag ich meine Main Events (***1/2). |

Es ist nicht das von mir erwartete Spotfest, sondern beide lassen es etwas langsamer angehen und die Spots werden weitesgehend dosiert. Nur gegen Ende wird es etwas hektischer, was aber auch in Orndung ist. Mit dem Cut von Tyler kann man noch etwas zusätzliche Dramatik erzeugen, da Steen die fiese Sau das auch wieder überzeugend umsetzt. Der letzte Funke will bei mir aber irgendwie nicht rüberspringen, weshalb ich bei 7 Punkten bleibe. Warum weiß ich auch nicht unbedingt, da das Match eigentlich gut ist. |
