[3.0] "This is the most I've probably ever varied from the average rating on here. In a 14 man match genuinely no one comes out of this actually looking good. Bret can't even bump so has to get disqualified in the dumbest way possible. Almost all the offence in the match is incredibly slow and boring, even the workers that are usually good like Jericho and Edge definitely were nowhere near their best in this match. Bryan's return was definitely the one bright spot of the match and in the minutes he gets in the ring, he's one of the only people who brings some life to this match. So many of the eliminations feel really flat and boring, particularly both of Slater's eliminations. Team WWE going over was quite the baffling choice and the way its done is even worse as it makes Gabriel and Barrett, the 2 main guys of the group that could've had main event potential look so goofy by both getting eliminated about 15 seconds apart. Overall quite slow and boring and a terrible finish pretty much killed the Nexus' momentum on the spot."

Can't rate it too highly because the right team definitely did not win this match, but who doesn't love a huge elimination tag match? Very underused stipulation in my opinion."

[6.0] "Obviously the Nexus should have won and Bret Hart did not belong anywhere close to a wrestling ring in 2010 but with that being said in ring this match was a lot better than I expected and Daniel Bryan was easily the MVP of the match."

[6.0] "The beginning of the match was well put together, they clearly showed the plan to get Bryan and Sheffield (not saying those are the best two but at least the match had a goal) and the original plan was probably to get Barrett over too. Vets get the momentum, and the Nexus regroup and manage to swing the momentum back to them. The Bret Hart elimination was kind of stupid. Sheffield was protected by the chair shots and then taking 2 finishers from former world champions. Vets regained some momentum but then miscommunication between Jericho and Cena and infighting between Edge and Cena let the Nexus regain control and the heel members of Team WWE attacked Cena. This led Bryan into a three on one situation, and he still manages to eliminate Slater before Miz interferes. This is where the match went wrong by allowing Super Cena to win the match instead of letting the Nexus win and making them look like legitimate threats. Thought the wrestling in the match was good but the booking ended up being pretty bad."

[7.0] "the match is actually way more enjoyable than expected. I dont remember much from nexus besides them beating people up and causing dqs so this was nice. I get why people are so angry with the ending though as I even didnt like it (was a big super cena fan at the time from what I remember) and the runtime didnt help make the ending feel any worthwhile. runtime isn't bad but its like damn near 40 minutes, the ending better be worth it."
JoeyBingBong wrote on 11.10.2024:
[7.0] "Good match that flirts with a little more than that, particularly early. Unfortunately, the runtime is far too hefty for the Nexus crew, making for a bloated main event. By contrast, the babyfaces (mostly) sincerely rock here, with their opening shine stealing the show. It's agented well also, or at least until it isn't, of course. The initial momentum swings are navigated nicely, producing back and forth excitement but not at the expense of a conventional structure. That allows the atmosphere to speak for itself, with this sporting a genuine big fight feel at the bell. Clearly, a complicated one, with a lot to like alongside some glaring flaws. ***1/4"

Edge and Jericho ostracising themselves once again adds to the story within Team WWE and there being egos and cracks in the team. Bryan joining made a really good moment, pretty sure he still had independant dates during this time to finish aswell. Good match."

[0.0] "This match was a goddamn travesty and sums up the big Super John Cena problem incredibly and why WWE struggled so much at the time to make the next big star. Nexus' debut was huge and felt real. The fallout from the Danielson sacking put even more eyes on it. Sure, they were green, but the gimmick of 'we're stronger as a team than as individuals' was a simple one but had the chance to inject some new excitement into a very stale time in WWE. So you have a team of Bret Hart (literally cannot wrestle), Edge (hates Cena), Jericho (hates Cena) teaming with R-Truth and John Morrison who were never anything serious. You also obviously have Cena and the returning Danielson. Not sure why Danielson is returning against the guys he teamed up with a month ago, but whatever, not really explained. The match starts with Nexus losing two members in two minutes. So this team that's been built up as a serious threat over the past month? Yeah, actually turns out they're rubbish. Bret Hart doesn't even get legitimately eliminated (due to the above) and instead if disqualified. Some miscommunication with Edge, Jericho and Cena means Edge and Jericho get eliminated cheaply. So Edge and Jericho beat on Cena. The Miz interferes and costs Team WWE, Danielson. Cena is eventually left on his own against Gabriel and Barrett, two of Nexus' biggest threats. Cena is DDT'd onto concrete. He's dead. Or... not as it would happen, as he eliminates the last two Nexus members in 30 seconds of one another, not selling anything from the entire match, let alone the DDT onto concrete. The complete opposite of what should've happened to Nexus happened here. Instead of coming off as a dangerous threat in their first big match, they instead come across as a group of total losers. The damage is so bad the Nexus recovery programme begins on Raw the next night. Super Cena had been in full swing for years before this. Why he felt he had to protect his spot still at this point was ridiculous. The absolute worst of John Cena on display here."

[6.0] "It's a decent enough elimination tag match but the elimination order is hit and miss and then you've got the ending, Cena going Super Cena and finishing off Nexus himself and they've lost so much momentum from this lost and it's more sad when it wasn't even supposed to be that way."

[7.0] "This match had a lot of good, but also a lot of dead space. People will talk about the result all they want, but, be real. Who is really losing sleep over "Michael Tarver" not being a big star? The Nexus had at best 3 members with real potential at this point, and one of them swapped sides by this match's time anyway. I will say though, the amount of heat put on Cena before he came clutch was INSANE, so I can see why people thought it was the wrong call. ***1/2"

[7.0] "This was a decent main event with a historically bad result. The storytelling and drama was great however quite a bit of the falls ended with a roll up or some other kind of shenanigans. The finishing stretch of the match saw Cena come clutch in a 2 to 1 disadvantage which almost completely halted any kind of momentum they had leading up to this point."

[5.0] "It's amazing that a match did so many things right and so many things wrong at the same time. This match is also in the top 5 for "the wrong person won." Daniel Bryan had a great showcase, and Justin Gabriel was a work-horse too. I also want to shout out Heath Slater, who essentially was there to protect Bret. If you notice, every bit of interaction Bret has is against Slater. From the opening brawl to all of his time in the ring, it's Bret and Slater. It should be a badge of honor for Heath that he was chosen to both make Bret look great and keep him safe. The eliminations and order made sense for the most part to hype guys up and make them shine. But the Nexus needed to look strong here. They needed to show that they could hang to keep the gas on them. But pretty much all of the eliminations on Team WWE came from under-handed tactics. Bret gets DQ'd, Miz attacks Bryan, Jericho and Edge are both eliminated after inadvertent distractions from Cena. So Ryback is the only one to get clean eliminations. It didn't exactly paint these newcomers in a great light. The heat spots on Cena just dragged on forever, just to have him Superman his way back and eliminate the last two Nexus members with no effort at all. Gabriel gets pinned after missing a splash, and Wade taps after getting very little offense done to him quite quickly. They really had something building with Nexus, even though they were already looking a bit weak heading into this in my opinion. It only made sense to give them the ball and see how far they could take it. But after a match like this, while they weren't immediately dead, it wouldn't take long. It's a well-written match with some good moments, but ultimately drags on in places and has very bad booking in hindsight. It's an entertaining Summerslam main event that brought something different, but all it will ultimately do is remind you of the failures of the company in 2010."

[8.0] "Slightly underrated, in my opinion, but it does have some flaws. This is the big Team WWE vs Team Nexus match and you can tell they're trying to get the same feeling as Team WWE vs Team Alliance from Survivor Series 2001. This isn't as good as that, but I still really enjoyed it. The fact that Daniel Bryan and Bret Hart are both a part of this team is pretty hype. The crowd was super into this match until the end (R-Truth got some big reactions, as well! ). There is some great storytelling here with Edge and Chris Jericho being untrustworthy, as well as the Daniel Bryan underdog story going on. Annoyingly, Michael Cole is in his full heel Miz fanboy phase here, which is a little distracting at times. Bret Hart gets a minimal showing, but you can't blame WWE for that. The main flaw in this match is that it loses a lot of heat after Bryan is eliminated. There's a little too much of Cena being beaten down by Wade Barrett and Justin Gabriel. He then pops up too suddenly and takes them both down too quickly. It's a little anticlimactic. Still, I did really enjoy this. It's a bunch of fun and the amount of talent in this match is awesome. Oh, and Ryback was here too."

Quite the contrary, Team WWE (but mostly John Cena) buries the entire group in one match and it is fair to say that most of them never recovered from this loss. People like Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater were destined to do great things in the WWE, but because of this match they unfortunatly never reached their full potential."

Super Cena was at his peak in this match. now that i'm older, i see that Nexus were completely buried here. the Nexus NEEDED this win, especially in their debut match. this loss killed the group's momentum and eventually led to its downfall. this match was for the kids."

[3.0] "Boring and sometimes very stupid as when Bret Hart DQ himself by letting go of his Sharpshooter and hitting the same guy with a chair that was throw by a Nexus member, there is also a joke of a finish where John Cena beats the last 2 members of The Nexus with only one move. If wasn't for Daniel Bryan this was going to be a DUD."

[7.0] "This was a fun elimination tag match. Interesting stuff from start to finish, I never got bored except for a few Nexus dominations that were really not exciting, especially on Cena in the last minutes. I liked the booking of this match and the action proposed by all the men present in this chaos, everyone did a good job. Bret is protected, Miz comes to attack Bryan, Edge and Jericho sneakily attacking the leader of their team, these little unusual eliminations that I liked. Bryan was really able to shine at the beginning and at the end of the match, so I'm happy for him because it was his comeback match in the company. This match is criticized for its ending but personally Super Cena never bothered me so I thought it was cool, his comeback was very well brought and the crowd loved it. Definitely a really cool main event."

[8.0] "The ending & the result are truly awful, but looking past that, this is actually a very good Survivor Series style multi-man elimination tag. The 35+ minutes they go fly by -- the action is solid throughout, and there's some flashes of greatness in there; Daniel Bryan was absolutely awesome for every second he was in there, and Bret Hart had a really nice short run too. He still threw one helluva punch, and I liked the way they eliminated him, even if you could argue that it made him look dumb. Also a shoutout to the future Ryback in one Skip Sheffield; I thought that out of the Nexus guys, he easily looked the best. Him throwing Morrison around was legitimately a lot of fun. I mentioned the ending being awful, and it sure is exactly that & left somewhat of a sour taste in my mouth, but all in all, the match is very good."

[5.0] "A very weak match by such rules is extremely scarce in wrestling, and it was especially striking how the participants flew out every couple of minutes, which is the norm for such matches, but here it would be done as elaborately as possible. Plus, well, it? s very boring, although it would seem that you have 14 in the match ! the participants"

The Miz interfering was a beautiful touch, absolutely loved it. Like many others, I dislike the ending, but it doesn't ruin the match for me. This is still a great one in my book."
Argylex wrote on 06.04.2017:
[7.0] "Except from the Cena superman stuff, this wasn't bad. There was nice flow, with a lot of people looking good. Of course we are talking about 14 people, it isn't easy to have a decent match psychology here. But the match was decent, although a different outcome would result to a match better long-term booking."
The Chosen One wrote on 11.06.2016:
[3.0] "Wow this match is entirely disappointing. Not only did everyone have a poor performance (Excluding Daniel Bryan, Justin Gabriel, and Wade Barrett) but the match was just boring. Plenty of botches and no sells to go around from Cena. I thought it was a stupid decision to go with Bret Hart on Cenas team as their could have been a bunch of other guys. This match also gave a very bad mark on all members of the Nexus members carriers."
yanus wrote on 22.03.2014:
[6.0] "A very impressive performance by D. Bryan, who pretty much carries the match. Whenever the Nexus are in control, the match gets bad or even horrible. John Cena is also pretty horrible in this match, his performance at the end is really disgraceful (he pulls the lying dead on the mat and suddenly coming alive routine 2 times in 3 minutes! I won't even comment on the no-selling of the ddt, because that also really pissed me off). Overall - ok match, but nothing more."
