| 27.02.2024 | Kyle from TheMatchGuide | 7.0 | The weakest of the trilogy. Unfortunately, this one felt a little dull at times, and despite the overall quality, it felt more typical instead of a mold-breaking championship bout. Still, this was good, not quite great, but good. Funny how Zach and Shingo would have my 2022 MOTY in their next meeting, but every trilogy needs a weak link. 3.75 Stars. |

| 24.01.2024 | GM56 Champion | 10.0 | The worst match of their trilogy, but still a spectacular one. How did they pull off performances like this? Shingo had to go to the place he had never been in to beat Zack and he made it. Sabre was countering everything into a submission as always and Takagi did what he could to outsmart him. Phenomenal, I want more |

| 06.08.2022 | jboyaquar | 8.0 | Easily the best of the twenty-or-so NJPW matches from Oct-early Nov I watched a week ago. ZSJ was incredibly crisp and dominant in his (fruitless) of IWGP glory. In-fact, the only thing about this I didn't care-for was that ZSJ isn't a first-rate bumper for Shingo's clotheslines & that finish which looked way-too soft to put-down such a challenge. 3 2/3 7.5 rounded-up |

| 28.03.2022 | Okaro143 | 9.0 | Great match. Very similar to their G1 match; Lots of similar sequences and set ups but everything they did here was better. These two have great chemistry together and once again they put on another splendid performance. There were moments that I admit felt a little flat but there were much more that I enjoyed. The ending wasn't quite the thriller as I hoped but it still had plenty of action. ****1/2 |

| 22.12.2021 | Midnightrambler64 | 10.0 | For me, one of the best matches of the year. These guys are two of the best. Hard hitting and fast paced, just what you want in a main event. |

| 08.12.2021 | Mizzle Assault Ant | 10.0 | I thought this was even better than their previous match, in fact not only was this my favorite New Japan match I've seen this year, it's my favorite New Japan match since 2017. Everything seemed to come together so damn well, Shingo was awesome but a true masterclass from Sabre. I will remember for a long time the way Shingo was barreling towards Sabre, who just sat still except for a slight "come on" gesture with his hands, and picked him out of his run perfectly into a bust up arm submission. Just beautiful stuff, Sabre as IWGP champion in the future is something I'd love to see. |

| 06.12.2021 | Wright15 | 10.0 | This is the first time in a while I have seen an audience buy a nearfall in a IWGP title match on the road to Wrestle Kingdom. Sabre and Takagi had over-predictability going against them before this match, but they managed to get the crowd invested in almost everything they did, even getting them to believe that Sabre had it won after the Sabre driver. There were many exchanges, counters, and moments reminiscent of legendary performances, but the match did drag a bit at the beginning, and there were a couple exchanges that didn't look as crisp as they could have. Still, this was awesome work overall by both wrestlers. EDIT: I just re-watched this, and it was even better than I gave it credit for the first time. ****3/4 |

| 17.11.2021 | BH62 | 8.0 | They did other shit that their previous bout, good for them. They kept that power vs. submission dynamic as I was thrilled by it last month. However, I prefered the previous, G1's urgency helped. Takagi is carrying NJPW this year, it's unbelivable, as well as ZSJ. During Ospreay and White's absence, he could make it as the top gaijin. Steps closer to finaly being put on the big map. |

| 16.11.2021 | Judestar | 9.0 | Their match in the G1 was surprisingly my favourite NJPW match of the year and thankfully they delivered here again. ZSJ's past few months have shown why he's one of the best guys on the roster, he's a great technical worker but can also keep up with the more energetic wrestlers like Shingo in white hot finishing stretches. Apart from a weirdly flat finish, this was one of the most well paced 30+ minute NJPW matches in a long time ****1/2. |

| 15.11.2021 | cal9099 | 9.0 | Excellent match, sure fire MOTYC for me. Excellent pacing and despite the result predictability this was still excellent. Give us a ZSJ title run, he's hotter than ever. ****3/4 |
| 15.11.2021 | PuroresuLover | 10.0 | The rematch from an excellent match that happened during G1 Climax 31, and it was nearly as good as their last match! Zack Sabre Jr giving his damn best and nearly beating Shingo Takagi three times was an excellent thing to watch, especially with Taichi's desperate screams. Takagi surviving two Zack Drivers and a Arm Lock was a great form of storytelling, especially when he needed to hit a second Last of the Dragon to capture the win. Great match. ****3/4 |

| 15.11.2021 | enei200 | 7.0 | A very fun watch, two wonderful wrestlers. Zack Sabre Jr was so close at finally getting the World Title. I hope that someday we'll see him succeed with that. For now. Shingo is great champion and he showed a technical masterclass with Sabre in this match. |
| 14.11.2021 | Derek Joists | 10.0 | ZSJ is the greatest technical wrestler on the planet at the moment, and Takagi isn't far off, and has a strength advantage. This match is just as good as you could hope for, with beautiful flowing submissions and reversals, huge strikes and counters, and masterful psychology throughout. A Match of the Year contender, and an absolute classic. |

| 14.11.2021 | StrongStyle2020 | 10.0 | This topped their G1 match, which was already superb. Honestly shocked this didn't receive 5 stars by Meltzer, considering how generous he is with 5 star matches nowadays, as I consider this superior to many 5 star, and even 5*+ matches since 2018. Maybe his generosity no longer applies to NJPW, and "tv matches" are now given priority. An absolute masterclass by both. Shingo cannot miss, and has delivered in every single big match, all year long. Some fans like to keep a stopwatch nowadays and nitpick on length, but here, the 30 minutes flew by, with not a wasted motion or any moments dragging in the match. A certain MOTYC. In my top 3. *****1/4 (5.25 stars) |

| 14.11.2021 | LariatNation | 9.0 | Arguably the two best singles wrestlers of 2021 in a rematch for the ages. After what could easily be argued as a five-star match at G1 Climax 31, they reimagined what this already legendary rivalry can be. And I fail to exaggerate when I say that this was magnificent. Zack Sabre Jr. put forth the best striking performance of his career, to the point that he somehow outdid Shingo Takagi in that regard. Takagi countered by putting forth what may have been the best technical wrestling display of his career. Counter is really the best word for it. This was a masterpiece as far as counter wrestling is concerned. Both competitors went outside of their element and proved they could put on a MOTY candidate even when not necessarily playing to their strengths. I could go move for move or moment for moment, but this is a match that simply needs to be seen. The callbacks to rivalries with the opponents who helped shape them, including Hirooki Goto and SANADA. The shots fired by ZSJ at both Bryan Danielson and LIJ as a whole. The brilliant transition into the sequence that finished their previous encounter. Simply outstanding. A special, special match that is so flawlessly paced that it makes 30+ minutes feel like 10. 4.75 stars, 9.5 out of 10. An instant classic. |
