[9.0] "Sanity....pure sanity and I loved every second of this. It was just a brutal war between one of the best tag teams in ROH & two of WWE's best. I know they weren't in WWE at the time, but from knowing Kevin and Sami from WWE, I'm gonna go with that sadly. These guys just beat the shit outta each other. Just amazing, and the commentators leaving cause of the sanity they knew was gonna happen was funny. {wrote on 20.07.2025}"

[9.0] "This was an awesome match. They used the Street Fight gimmick extremely well here, feeling like more of a battle rather than a wrestling match. These two teams brought out the best in each other, taking all kinds of abuse and doing so many spots that I can't even begin to recap. All I can say is that they were incredibly well done. I will say that after a cutter off of the barricade, I did laugh when Kevin Steen yelled out mom to the camera. I've seen comments and I agree that this felt like the TLC wars that The Hardys, The Dudleyz and Edge & Christian had back in the day. Against all the odds, these two teams managed to top themselves with the first ever Ladder War the month after this match at Man Up. ****3/4"

[8.0] "This match is pure chaos and makes great use of the Street Fight stipulation and really looks like a fight between two pairs who want to kill each other, but this match just doesn't rise in my opinion due to the lack of a big memorable spot (****1/4)"

[10.0] "This is how you do a street fight, Jesus Christ... some companies should be ashamed to call some matches a "street fight" after this, what an incredible match, the definition of a carnage. This match followed properly the stipulation, it really felt like a match you would see on the street, Fight Club stuff, specially in the beginning, impressive. This began with two tags beating the hell out of each other outside of the ring, and it was awesome, but my favorite part was the second half, where they were tired and did a lot of crazy-ass moves, it felt so real. Steen and Generico finally won over the Briscoes after losing the first two encounters, but this didn't gave them the titles, because unsanctioned matches doesn't permit title changes, so the only thing that matters here was honor and giving the other team the beat of their lives... insane match - {****3/4}"

[10.0] "[4.75*] I am doing a Honor Club research and this right here is my third favorite match after Joe vs Kobashi and Punk vs Joe 3. It was literally 23 minutes of 100% my shit nonstop, with some crazy ass bumps and moves. It was a war and represents this feud perfectly. I did not mind the referee holding the ladder because Briscoe literally ordered him to do so, so he gave a pretty good explanation in kayfabe. I can not even list my favorite parts because there are a lot, but the start in the middle of the crowd was just frenetic, the Generico cutter off the ladder was beautiful and the Package Piledriver into the ladder was chefs kiss. Unbelievable all timer match-up."

Briscoes rock here, they make sure all their shit lands and both teams have great moments selling some of this crazy stuff too. Kinda hate the ending with the low blow though, but that might fade if I watch some of the other matches from this feud. 4.25+ Stars."

[9.0] "There have been plenty of matches that call themselves "street fights" that feel like pretty soft, generic gimmick, but this one feels like the real deal. This match is NUTS. Piledrivers onto crowd barriers, facebusters off of ladders, all four men wiping each other out with chairs at the same time. It's so brutal that Kevin Steen literally calls out for his mother at one point!"
GenerationalCreator wrote on 14.05.2024:
[10.0] "From the Brisoes' entrance until the end, this insane match doesn't stop the action for a single second, for 23 minutes there are no dead moments or rest for the pairs or those watching. In front of an insane crowd, on fire that only pre-2010 ROH could provide, this is the match that, when I watched it for the first time, made me immediately fall in love with Steenerico and ROH, and it all comes from how good this match can be. In casual clothes, something that adds a lot to the stipulation, the pairs hit each other with different objects throughout the arena, it's even funny to see Steen hit Mark with a pink women's bag and minutes later hit Biscoe with a fan's shoe. Generico throws his opponent against the chair and he falls on his head, Mark's cutter on Steen on the barricade. They hit each spot, which seems planned and occurs naturally, even them hitting each other with chairs on the head. other. The best chemistry in the company, in a brutal match that is exactly the brawl that the feud needed at that moment. El Generico's cutter spot on the stairs would be repeated many years later by others, but nothing compares to this one, spectacular. Steen's package piledriver that ends the match is brutal, done so cleanly that it's scary. Tag moves are also cool. If there is a definition of a match that can merge the past with the present, it is this match that would work as a 5 stars match in any period. [5.0*]"

[10.0] "[5.25*] Two of the best duos in the history of Ring of Honor faced each other in this gigantic fight, most of the action took place in the crowd with several incredible spots involving chairs being thrown at the head of whoever got in front. The pairs had surreal and brutal exchanges, I've never seen so many chairs happening in a match, Mark Briscoe and Kevin Steen were incredible facing each other and Jay Briscoe and El Generico were spectacular. The spots with the ladder were incredible too, the match was perfect, without a doubt the best tornado tag match in history, the action was frenetic and perfect."

Does not slow down for a second, every second is packed full of inventive and brutal spots. Elevated by the lack of commentary and mad crowd."

[10.0] "This was so mad, it was like watching a guerrilla warfare with the young bucks involved but more violent. They destroyed their bodies each others with chairs, tables, a trash can ecc. and this also featured the best cutter I 've ever seen. Thank you Generico! *****1/2 (11)"

[8.0] "Chaotic and sloppy brawl that felt right for the venue and time period. All these guys are great at improvising crazy stuff with each other. They really try to make a mess of the place. The only complaint is the "ref holds the ladder" spot but it was necessary in the moment since it led to the finish. Not great, but loads of fun and every moment is wilder than the next. A perfect way to end a long night of wrestling."
KingsCrossing wrote on 30.09.2022:
[10.0] "Pure balls to the wall chaos. Bodies and objects flying everywhere at all times. There is so much action and brutality that I don't think I could bring myself to give a lower rating even if there are a couple minor, nitpicking issues here and there. I love how seamlessly Steen can transition in to comedy even in the midst of so much carnage. Just a tremendously fun match all around."

[8.0] "This was a great match and, if you're a hardcore match nut, I can definitely see you rating this higher. All four guys were pulling off some sick spots and stunts in this one. Steen and Generico were such a fun team around this time. The Briscoes always pull off great matches. It was a little sloppy at points for my taste, but they did a great job here."

[9.0] "Great match, just a wild, chaotic brawl from hell that you are a bit surprised everyone walked away from. I did think they went a little heavy on the reckless head trauma stuff (so close to Benoit, after all) but even so, great match, just crazy stuff at times. Generico is godly."
Denpa Pope wrote on 13.04.2020:
[10.0] "Unreserved insanity of every big hardcore spot ever done in succession with close to no downtime. Add palpable chemistry of two teams to keep it all together and add meaning and you get what feels like ROH's indie version of the Attitude Era TLC matches as far as hardcore wrestling insanity goes. Among the best hardcore wrestling matches I ever have seen."

[10.0] "These four dudes absolutely deserve the 10 rating. What a helluva street fight! So much action outside the ring, it usually does jot work well when people just brawl outside for several minutes, but these guys didn't just keep me hooked on to the match for that part, just were able to make my jaw drop on every move they performed. Utter brutality defined this match, every chairshot was perfect, every spot was executed amazingly. That barricade cutter, Michinoku driver on the steel, fisherman suplex on the chair, had just about uncountable number of incredible spots. Even inside the ring, they just maintained that pace. All I gotta say is, WOW! How is this match not talked about much? Just amazing stuff."
Paul Allain wrote on 19.01.2017:
[9.0] "This match was an awesome and deserving main event in a very stacked weekend. Both teams have built their rivalry so that a violent fight like this reached it's full potential. They had no qualmsbeating the tar out of each other all over the arena with every weapon available, keeping the crowd in a frenzy the whole way through. This belongs among the most intense performances for all people involved, and really deserves recognition for the dementedly great result."

[9.0] "That was some seriously sick sh*t. Bell to bell craziness, right up there with the TLC-era WWF stuff. These guys just went crazy with wild spots from the opening bell, and only got more and more mental over the following 20 minutes. The scary part is, this feud isn’t even over yet. It’s hard to imagine how they’ll ever top this one. I don’t see anything else winning feud of the year."
