Rey Mysterio vs. Sami Zayn

[5.0] "It was short and nice. There two never let down in the ring and I really liked the result. But I wish it could've been a but longer."

[6.0] "This was a good match to start the King of the Ring 2021, Rey Mysterio and Sami Zayn have a good chemistry and the storyline with Dominik was respected, to give us an interesting bout. Overall it was a very correct match. ***1/4"

[7.0] "You can always count on Rey to keep the crowd warm, and so this match's placement was absolutely right to go after the opener. Fun TV match with the right man winning, but could have easily gotten an 8 if they'd gotten time. However, time was not something that matches on this SmackDown tended to get (see: both women's matches...)"

[8.0] "Fantastic opening match between Mysterio and Zayn to open this highly anticipated tournament for me, a good idea to put Rey Mysterio right after the three girls segment so that the show continues with something that will get the crowd going. Rey is always super over no matter what region the shows are held in and he always gets one of the best reactions of the night from his entrances and moves, he performed at a high level here and this is surely one of his best performances in a few months. To come out with sequences like that at the age of 46 is something that impresses me, he's truly immortal and still wrestles like he did twenty years ago. Zayn is excellent and also deserves credit, of course under other conditions and at their prime they could have offered us a classic but here they couldn't have done better in these conditions."

[7.0] "Beautiful sprint between two great wrestlers. Mysterio is still awesome and Zayn was the perfect dance partner for him. Fun counters done with urgency. 7/10"

[8.0] "Good maneuvers and good chemistry, Rey I could see him having fun, Dom is very immature in everything, he needs to stay with his dad. Sami is great, he plays everything perfectly. Don't let him get away."

[6.0] "Sami Zayn is staying on SmackDown, so it was a good call for him to go over here. It also furthered the tensions within the Mysterio family which will play out when they move over to RAW. Nice match that would have been better with more time."

[7.0] "Overall a fun opening match. Mysterio and Sami are two really good wrestler and understand how to put a good match with a nice story in it. I'm not a fan of the end, Dominik looks really dumb if he doesn't turn on his father in the coming weeks."

Great counters by both guys with a logical finish that continues Rey's story with his kid, while propelling Zayn to better things. Zayn is obviously losing to Balor next week but with that show being an extra 30 minutes long I expect a great match. Good match. [***1/4]"
