They immediately went for the worked-shoot style of match with lots of MMA-like 'feeling out' with their strikes and then some heavily BJJ/catch-influenced grappling exchanges. Their work in those exchanges all looked good, with both showing good technique while trading control back and forth. They didn't do anything crazy or unexpected, but everything they did had really good energy and all-around good technique. I enjoyed all of Konami's work targeting Syuri's arm with her various holds. Syuri's arm-selling was pretty good in real-time, since she'd constantly grab the arm or slightly adjust her posture to lean over to try support it, but she sadly always dropped that selling when it came time for her to run through a flurry of attacks. Although I thought most of their strike trades were good, each had a few that looked a bit sloppy and/or weak. Konami getting a cheap but completely fair and legal counter pin to steal the win was a cool finish, with Syuri looking strong in defeat due to still having a rear naked choke locked in despite getting pinned, which the idea being that she was just quickly caught off-guard. ***1/4 |

| 12 | 01.07.2022 | hassan01 | 9.0 | A straightforward kick-ass match, it was energetic and explosive and had all the primary and main ingredients that a good match requires. Yes, the story insight lacked depth but I'm sure that was never the intention going into this match either. They delivered a banger nonetheless, the chemistry was unbelievable and they clicked right off the bat. The chain-wrestling was a treat to watch, the grappling and mat-wrestling so very crispy, smooth and silky. The pacing was stable and easy to follow with every move being logical and carrying weightage and significance. The technical artistry and submission maneuver ship was alluring, simply splendid. A beloved masterpiece and one would not expect less from a one on one meeting involving Konami and Syuri. The prime focus and aspect of the whole bout was the kick-boxing exchanges back and forth which they did for majority of the match. In addition, they also traded hard shots. This had almost every single form of offense that could be used. From the stiff and nasty knees , German suplex's and spinning fists to straight up physically rigorous kicks to the chest and back as well as the fore-arm shots to the neck. The finish was interesting and the result was desirable so all is good in life. ****1/2 |

Well apparently very little. A match very reliant on strikes, submissions and chain wrestling, it had the potential to be quite boring if it was anyone else but they went AT IT. They went to war with each other and never let their momentum die down. I also liked how Syuri was portrayed, dominating a lot of the later portion of the match, with Konami pulling the upset win. Hope Konami gets the push she deserves. As is, a very entertaining and technically sound demonstration of what wrestling can also be besides suplexes and flashy moves earns my 9. |

They barely left contact with each other for minutes at a time during the chain sequences which led to some of my favourite creative reversals I've seen in a while. Syuri and Konami continued to surprise each other. Syuri has spent a while trying to pull the fire out of a dejected seeming Konani for a while now and this led to more than she bargained for this time. They've set a standard for sure now, the upcoming title shot will have a bit more time to exceed this and be among the best matches of the year. |

There were some good moments when they tried to show something in the style of UWFi, but it didn't come out very well. Then the match followed the classic pattern and I still wasn't very happy, lol. Not very strong picks, not very strong elbow kicks. I respect that they don't slam the leg, but I feel like the power of the kicks themselves could have been stronger. Like everything in this match is not great, on a level that could have been better. Why doesn't Konami ever make a bridge after the German Suplex? It was better than their last match, but still not as good as it could have been. A question that still haunts me to this day... ***1/2 |
