6 | 02.02.2025 | Sleezy C | 10.0 | This was when NWA was really back on their game, and the story behind this match was very intense with high stakes with no clear winner: Career vs title. Thing is, Trevor Murdoch could have realistically lost to Nick Aldis, considering how dominant Nick was, but it was also realistic for Nick to lose because of that underdog story feeling you got from Trevor at the time. Trevors buildup was fantastic, and it'd take too long to describe it, but that buildup along with who his opponent was really helped elevate this match into one of the greatest classics in modern wrestling. Trevor winning the title and establishing himself as a true solo star after years of being a tag team guy was amazing, a match that really hits everything we as fans love about pro wrestling. |

And this was the most significant moment in Trevor's long career. It was classic old-school wrestling with a good story and emotions. 9 points. |

17 | 24.01.2022 | vel | 10.0 | This match became that rare embodiment of the soul in modern American wrestling. A minimum of movements, but a maximum of soul and personality. Murdoch is a wrestler who, in our time, could probably only succeed in the NWA, which are very reverent about traditions. And it was very nice to see him with the title at the end. |

19 | 22.01.2022 | arrancar | 5.0 | As charming as old-school wrestling is, and as charming as is the idea of seeing a revitalisation of that style in our modern day, matches of that sort are rarely actually exciting or impressive. This entire match was fine. Completely fine. Aldis and Murdoch are fine enough wrestlers, but they aren't going to give you anything exciting in-ring, so if you're not invested in their ongoing feud then this won't mean anything to you, like it didn't meaning to me. They did some generic wrestling exchanges with a middling level of energy, all while going over the idea of Aldis being the arrogant heel champion and Murdoch being the past-his-prime but plucky babyface challenger. I have to say that Murdoch felt odd as a babyface, since his gruff and relatively slovenly appearance didn't inspire thoughts of a sympathetic figure, and he didn't have a very creative or explosive enough offence to make his comebacks entice me to want to see him succeed. I've long admired Aldis' work as an immensely proud and arrogant heel, and I totally understand why he's been NWA champion for so long, but his in-ring work is painfully bland. It's a good thing that he's such a good talker. This match easily could have been in any of the territories during the 80s, and I don't intend that as a compliment. There's a reason we've mostly moved past that style of slow, uninspired, brawl-based fighting towards matches which show a greater level of athleticism and intensity, but the modern-day NWA still thinks there's a long-term audience that can be meaningfully courted by being a pure throwback with this style. I'll admit I initially liked the style of NWA's rebrand with Powerrr, but that charm wears off quickly when you consider that you could easily watch far, far better wrestling from the modern day, or that you could just go back and watch the 70s and 80s territories themselves to see the true old-school style with its entire original charm instead of seeing an attempted modern-day tribute which is painfully out of place. |

22 | 16.11.2021 | killowenskill | 10.0 | Without any exaggeration, this is the best match in North America since the Bryan-Kofi match that I have seen. A simple and understandable story of a working man Trevor Murdoch, but, nevertheless, it is very beautiful and emotional. I saw their previous title match, I saw the promo, and I got fully involved in it. The match started before the gong, they just fought in the ringside for about 6 minutes, and it was cruel, Aldis showed what a cool heel he was, and I wanted to worry even more about Murdoch. And Trevor tried to even the scores as soon as they were in the ring and the gong sounded, he really went out of his way, giving heat to the crowd, and the move with the referee accidentally falling under the distribution was just in brilliant timing, when Murdoch, fighting on his last breath, makes a fatal mistake, and the relatively fresh, young Aldis, now has time to exhaust the veteran even more, using both physical advantage and mean tricks. All this makes Trevor WANT to win even more, and the son who worries behind the barricades with a natural, and not at all hyperbolized reaction, only enhances this effect. Murdoch put everything on the line, and this is not the case when a career is at stake is spoiler, taking into account how long this title reign is, and how iconic it is positioned. Murdoch is going through everything, even a harsh spot with an elbow drop on the table in the ringside, and when he seizes the moment by the bridle and makes the smartest code red - I want to jump up and start shouting, which I actually did. The reference start of the finish line, where every action makes you worry and bite your nails, they managed to create this atmosphere without a thousand dangerous bumps and high speeds, limited only to classics, and for this they have a separate praise. The heel dynamics of the champion versus the baby-face dynamics of the challenger, and absolutely all actions reinforce this. References to the Harley Race raised the match even higher. The ending is the best you can think of, Murdoch uses his trademark bulldog, but this time he brought Aldis to the right condition and that puts an end to it. Emotional triumph, emotional match, emotional story. This is what, in my opinion, the story of Adam Page in AEW lacked, and Trevor Murdoch, who looks 56 at 41 years, was able to attract my attention several dozen times better. I didn't look up from the match for a minute. This is really an underrated masterpiece that everyone needs to see. Two men, using simple moves, forged classics for all time (*****). |

25 | 21.09.2021 | theJAww | 8.0 | Aldis cements himself as the quintessential "old school", "NWA-style" performer here, and Murdoch proves what most have already known - that he is right up there too. Super old school match and I loved it. There's a place in pro wrestling for this brand of wrestling and I'm happy to see NWA showcase it. Would love to see either Aldis or Murdoch mix it up with guys from AEW or Impact eventually. |

33 | 01.09.2021 | Mister Zero | 8.0 | The worthy conclusion for the historic title reign is with a great story like Murdoch's title run up, with the continue reference to Harley Race. I admit, I was skeptical for this match but I've enjoyed so much, like the crowd and also the commentary team. A good initial brawl, a wonderful storytelling and the perfect finish. A special mention to Nick Aldis, one of the greatest campion and one of the reason of this incredible rebirth by the NWA. |

Really strong overall match with a great finish. Congratulation to Aldis for his incredible title reign. Murdoch deserve it. [73] *** 1/2+ |

42 | 31.08.2021 | zags7000 | 8.0 | This was a great main event and delivered a really strong match. The emotion was great as well and the announcers, specifically Tim Storm added to the importance of the moment. The storyline really brought this match up and Murdoch is a great choice to finally end Aldis's run. Aldis was great as a champion but this was the right time for a change. Great way to end the show and a great weekend for NWA overall. |
43 | 31.08.2021 | plaguespreader | 8.0 | Very curious how people who don't even watch Nick Aldis matches much less NWA as a whole will rip on him because he has a high opinion of himself. Match was good, but leaned towards the overarching story of Trevor the family man finally taking down the royal Aldis. Nice spot channeling the finishers of previous NWA champions. |
44 | 31.08.2021 | TurboMan | 9.0 | This match rules. Great heavyweight championship match, Nick Aldis is fantastic and Murdoch makes for a great babyface. Story of the match revolves around Harley Race and Murdoch's family. Crowd becomes completely invested in the end of it. Murdoch's kid can totally kick Goldberg's kids ass. |
45 | 31.08.2021 | MB3101 | 6.0 | It was an OK match. A lot of storytelling with a poor in ring performance. I guess the match achieved what they wanted to do. |
Super NWA |

52 | 30.08.2021 | pierreMinne | 4.0 | It was really bad to me. First of all, the pre match brawl outside of the ring bothered me a lot, and when the match started I couldn't really be invested. The storyline doesn't touch me in any way, they tried to use some moves of NWA legends like the Lou Thesz Press, the Figure 4 or the Harley Race's Piledriver before the end, but this really didn't do it with me. And my biggest point is that Trevor Murdoch is such a bad babyface. I always love these stories of the babyface built to finally beat the dominant heel, but Murdoch can't even play well his role. So the result was really disappointing to me, especially after way too much forced nearfalls. ** |
53 | 30.08.2021 | VibesAndStuff | 8.0 | Good match that told a great story. The way they played to the crowd was perfect, using Murdoch's family for extra emotion who was already fighting for Harley Race. Good stuff, match of the night and great way to end the show. Also, the perfect way to end Aldis' 10 year reign. |
54 | 30.08.2021 | BUIOOMEGA | 8.0 | Bell to bell it's even a very good match for NWA standards BUT this match is THE match! Great moment, great story, wordless. This moment has to arrive even before but it's okay in this way, long live Murdoch and NWA. |
