A-Train vs. Chris Benoit

[7.0] "Outside of Japan, definitely Albert/A-Train's best match. Benoit bumps his ass off for the big man and A-Train gets to show off his fun power moves with that butterfly lung buster being a thing of beauty. Scary moment where Benoit falls out of a Military Press head first onto a chair but these 2 recoup. Lovely sharpshooter finish as Stu Hart has passed a bit before this ppv. Fun and physical match. (***1/2)."

[7.0] "When Benoit slipped out of the guerilla press and landed head and neck first on the chair made me squirm especially considering the future."

[8.0] "What a physical matchup man. I expected nothing but these two came out and beat the piss out of each other. Including A-Train dumping Benoit on his head accidentally, added to the match a lot actually and Benoit's come back. ****"

[2.0] "A-Train is a good wrestler...that being said he is extremely boring. He was on offense for like 30 minutes and it was mind-numbingly dull to watch and I was clawing my eyes out of boredom. We then have what this match is known for...A-Train botching a press slam and Benoit landing face first onto a chair. It was scary as hell. Benoit eventually won putting and end to this garbage match. Genuinely awful mess of a match."

[6.0] "A good and physical match that saw both guys do some impressive stuff. Albert was booked to look strong. They had some good chemistry and the German suplexes from Benoit were special, but the chair spot was really bad. Liked the sharpshooter ending"

[5.0] "I don't understand why this match can't have such a good valutation like that. It's not bad for the technical execution, but the booking is simply terrible. Why the heel this match did not end with the DQ against A-Train? And why the hell A-Train was obsessed by this object? (5/10)"

[7.0] "This felt extremely random but was actually pretty good, outside of the terrifying botch where Benoit lands on his neck. But some good drama and I actually thought A-Train was winning at one point. Good stuff."

[9.0] "Chris Benoit his (infamously) finest here, got probably A-Train's best matchup out of him, took some super scary bumps but had the crowd in his palm fighting back, and to finish the match with the Sharp Shooter was a great touch with the recent passing of Stu Hart"

[6.0] "Finally A-Train was against somebody quicker and more technical so he could just focus on being a dominant big guy and it worked here. Benoit bumped nicely for him, sold his offense convincingly and had a lot of fire in him when he was making his comebacks. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the referee didn't even try to get the chair out of the ropes, but apart from that it was very competent."

[9.0] "Benoit bleeding from the mouth. Train's insane butterfly chestbuster. Benoit bumping out of the military press. Train's power throws. Benoit's incredible counters and huge tenacity tearing the big man down. This way, way exceeded my expectations, fantastic match. I remember a lot of A Train criticism at the time but I think it was just anti big man bias, he's very good, and Benoit is at the very top of his game."

[5.0] "Benoit really makes Albert look incredibly strong here. Albert dominates at least 80% of the match with really hard hitting, powerful offense. And that's kind of the reason I can't rate this match higher than 5 points. Benoit kind of wins out of nowhere, and it didn't feel right to me. It's not like he systematically worked on Albert and then caught him, or got a quick pin or anything like that. Albert is having his way with Benoit all match, Benoit has very little offense, all of it was at the start of the match and a very short comeback near the end, and then Train taps. The match made him look deadly and powerful, but in my opinion, it also made him seem kind of wimpy, considering he tapped so quickly with so little damage done to him. In any case, it was still a solid match, and might be one of the best Train worked in the WWE. This is a good indication of why he had a ton of success in the tag division in Japan a handful of years after this. He can absolutely have a great match when structured right. This one was just too one-sided for me personally."

[8.0] "Very intense physical match here and a high quality Benoit match that seriously put him over strong as well as giving us one of the better A-Train/Albert matches. The selling here is fantastic as well. The spot where Benoit's head/neck lands on the chair looked sick and very tough to watch given today's context."

[7.0] "Pretty good match here that was very physical/intense all the way. Albert was pretty good with his beatdown work on Benoits neck throughout this match, and that bump Benoit took on the chair was sick. As expected Benoits selling was great, and his comeback at the end before winning was good.***1/2"

[6.0] "This ended up being a great match. Benoit played a great underdog and Albert looked as talented and dominant as he ever did during his multiple runs in WWE. Benoit took some brutal punishment and it looked like he would lose, but in the end he managed to rally and take A-Train off guard, securing the win. Good match. ***"

[8.0] "Well this exceeded my expectations. This was rough, gritty and outright nasty at times. A-Train was so focused on hurting Benoit and was relentless with his assaults. He layed in his shots and put extra velocity and speed into everything he did. Benoit sold like a boss and made a glorious comeback. Lovely match up. ****"
