5 | 26.09.2024 | cjm550506 | 8.0 | This is my favorite Dusty vs. Flair match I've seen. The image of Dusty in the ring at the end with the babyfaces is so perfect and after seeing Cody vs. Reigns at WrestleMania this year, it feels even better to see the moment he was recreating. Flair held the title for nearly 800 days and, of course, would again, but as its own piece of history this match is fantastic. The action throughout is also the best I've seen between them and Dusty using Ric's strategy in the cage to take control of the match is a great story element. It's more the final moment that's memorable than the action but that's not to say it wasn't enjoyable throughout, though. |
6 | 18.08.2024 | JoeyBingBong | 8.0 | An iconic match that warrants its place in history, living up to the moment that it ultimately concludes with. Certainly, the atmosphere helps, arming this with a substantial big fight feel that both Flair and Rhodes seamlessly channel. The latter is on fire here and Flair is at the peak of his powers, neatly showcasing the babyface throughout. In terms of content, it's not a distance away from their usual fare but those hits sound especially striking in this environment, with the blood shining brighter than ever in the steel cage. Very good match that produces a classic moment, capturing a promotion's entire era in one fell swoop. ***3/4 |

20 | 31.08.2023 | Rjepic1 | 8.0 | While this match is a little plodding in sections this is one of the better Flair/Dusty matches I've seen. I did not realize going into this that this is when Dusty won his third (and final) NWA World Championship. Even though Dusty would only hold the title for a couple weeks I really liked seeing Dusty finally get the big win here. A clean finish was a nice change of pace here. |

23 | 18.08.2023 | Arnold Furious | 6.0 | It's one of the better Flair-Dusty matches (along with the Crockett Cup match) but that's not saying much. They never really clicked like Flair did with so many guys he could plug into his match. Dusty never had any interest in working that match and as a result, never got a great match with Ric Flair. |

28 | 26.12.2022 | KingsCrossing | 7.0 | I didn't like this as much as I hoped I would. It was definitely still good, but something about it just didn't quite resonate with me. Truth be told I found it a little dull in parts. I love Dusty as the total anthesis of Flair's character, so story-wise this was great. I suppose it was just that nothing about the match really stood out as all that unique - it felt a bit paint by numbers. But what do I know? The crowd loved it and seemed to get everything they wanted out of it. It was clearly a very important match at the time, capped off by a great moment. The crowd reaction to the finish right down to the ring announcing were all fantastic. For my tastes, however, I thought that the cage match between Flair and Morton earlier in the tour was a vastly superior match. |

34 | 10.12.2021 | The Beholder | 8.0 | I thought this match flowed better than their earlier Starrcade encounters. Plus, there's all the added drama of 2 guys bleeding in a cage. A great payoff to their long feud. ****1/4 |

44 | 19.10.2020 | rykejamal | 8.0 | There was a good story behind it and a long rivalry between both men. They used the cage well, but this match also had plenty of in ring wrestling. The reaction for the title change was something to behold. What a great moment. |

46 | 30.07.2020 | AndoCommando | 7.0 | Flair and Dusty have had their fair share of good matches (especially on the house shows), but none might be as emotionally resonant as their clash at the Great American Bash. The American Dream was the perfect foil to The Nature Boy - a common man who fought for what he believed in, standing across the rich, entitled performer given every opportunity. All built on a simple conflict: who deserved to represent the company. There's a lot of showmanship driving the match, from the initial prancing around the ring, to the grappling and chop exchanges, as each man inched closer to the finish. Flair went to his well of dirty tricks, but the Dream refused to lose on this night, rolling through a scoop slam for the inside cradle. Flair did the job, with Rhodes finally overcoming the most dominant NWA champion. ***1/2 |

58 | 25.10.2018 | tykechandler | 7.0 | Didn't do as much for me as it seems to for others. I was rather bored, although the crowd heat was pretty good and technically there's not too much wrong with it. The structure is pretty predictable though, with Flair's heel tactics, some cage spots, a bit of blood. If you know these guys you could probably predict everything about this match before even watching it, and you'd likely be mostly right. ***1/4. |

60 | 02.10.2016 | NastyYaffa | 9.0 | Flair was really great in this, he sold & bump for Dusty so well, and his work on top was really good. Dusty was solid in his role as well, and him winning the title was obviously a great moment. **** |
*** 1/2 (14) |
62 | 27.03.2016 | TrevPuroFan | 10.0 | Great match for its time period and one of the most important matches in wrestling history. Ever since Dusty returned in 1985 he wanted to win the World Title, the story had been building up for a year and the story culminivated in this match. The crowd went wild when Dusty won. |
63 | 07.02.2016 | The Doc | 7.0 | Not the greatest Dusty Rhodes and Ric Flair match around but still a great showing inside the cage from the two. |

65 | 13.06.2015 | Mizzle Assault Ant | 10.0 | This is THE Dusty vs. Flair match, and I don’t think at the end of the day Flair ever had a more ideologically perfect opponent than Dusty. All the hard work and hard times that Dusty had gone through really culminated in this match and pitched it to a higher level, and you could feel it every second from the initial stare down to the ring announcer’s voice breaking in shock and joy as he announced the winner. Fabulous atmosphere, a textbook example of what was great about NWA in the 80s, the action was stupendous, this is a absolutely one to hunt down and watch. |
