9 | 23.06.2024 | BlackVikingGZ | 8.0 | Even if their previous match was better than this one, it's still a very good match between two wrestlers with great chemistry. It was violent and had some great spots. It had some weird botches, such as the powerslam into a table that didn't hit the table, but those were minor mistakes that didn't affect the match. They hit some hard chops, slaps and strikes and they followed them with impactful moves. For example Homicide goes to the top rope and Joe counters his dive with a STO slam. Homicide goes to the outside and Joe hits a heel of a dive into the ole ole kick. Loved the interaction between Smokes and Joe, as Joe looks at Julius and begins to clap to set the kick. Another cool spot was the powerbomb into the STF. Homicide recovers countering a muscle buster into an ace crusher. Then Joe hits an enziguri that almost knocks out Homicide, but he stands up before the 10 count. Homicide scapes the Island Driver and kicks Joe's knee. Then Joe goes to the floor and Homicide locks the STF and then uses a hangmans noose to choke out Joe and win the match. That ending was awesome and brutal. |
10 | 25.01.2024 | KingsCrossing | 8.0 | Not quite as good as their previous match, but Homicide and Joe have great chemistry and all of their matches in this feud are a good time. They both have a similar brand of intensity, but with very different physical attributes, and it always makes for a volatile confrontation. This wasn't as heated as their best work against each other, but I love seeing Homicide throw his entire body in to his offence against Joe while also being one of the few men who can withstand his hard hitting offence. I really liked the finish, too, and thought it did a good job of escalating this feud on the way to an inevitable rematch. |
11 | 14.11.2021 | Target | 7.0 | A good, short match for this story. It's clearly worse than the last match, and overall this match seemed to me like a beta version of their last match. The extreme didn't feel too much, so it looked like a normal match, apart from the ending. ***3/4 |
12 | 14.07.2021 | Loki Hipster God | 8.0 | This was wrestled at breakneck speed with a real sense of urgency where it seemed like the match could end at any minute. It was a tad sloppy at times and the selling was spotty, but this felt like two guys trying to kill each other while hitting every big move in the book. This might be an odd comparison, but it felt more like a crazy Awesome-Tanaka ECW match than the refined technical matches ROH would later become known for. |
