Kenta Kobashi vs. Randy Rose

[6.0] "Randy Rose is the most 1980s wrestler I have ever seen in my life. This is a perfectly functional match. Randy gets over a bit with the crowd who love the spot where he was sitting on the middle rope and falling and bouncing back to punches from Kobashi. It is basic but enjoyable."

[5.0] "This is the third match in Kobashi's seven-match trial series. I think it's the only television time that Randy Rose, with whom I am unfamiliar, got from this tour, but for an eightish-minute match between a young native and a standard gaijin I thought this was fun, and I probably enjoyed it more than the clipped version of the Bulldogs/Fantastics match which followed it. It's not a masterpiece of the form or anything; Rose is a little clunky, and there's a point Kobashi puts him out of the ring with the weakest lariat I've ever seen him give. But after some adequate opening matwork we get some dives from both men (like an apron clothesline from Rose). Fun bit from shortly after the aforementioned lariat where a recovering Rose gets tangled in the ropes, so he keeps flipping back over when Kobashi tries to punch him out. After Kobashi misses a dive, Rose hits a full-nelson facebuster that the crowd reacts to more than damn near anything from the later Bulldogs/Fantastics match. Rose tries a Vader bomb but eats Kobashi's knees for it, and Kobashi sets up and hits the moonsault to win. I couldn't reasonably expect more from this. **1/2"
