"The most interesting match of Steve Austins career. He battles both McMahons in a ladder match. I didn't know it was that good of a match. 7.98"

The spots at the entry way were pretty unique, and even though it was mostly a one sided beatdown, the damage they all took always looked impactful. When Austin was in trouble, it was in believable ways. This match won't win any awards, and it's probably not a match I'd go out of my way to recommend, but for what it was, it was very entertaining. Maybe just a tiny bit too one sided."

[7.0] "This was an entertaining match because the McMahon's take several bumps to make Austin's beat down of them very satisfying and the match had some very over the top moments as it should have where Austin makes the entrance stage collapse on them and there was a couple of announce table spots where Austin crashed through Shane and then moments later Vince sends Austin off the ladder on the other table, which looked kinda brutal because it doesn't break and Austin bounced off it onto the concrete. The ladder match isn't a specialty of any of the competitors in the match, but the big storyline as well as Austin kept the crowd hot through the entire match. The ending that screwed over Austin was creative but slightly cheap because while it is a logical way for the McMahon's to win, it's never revealed who lowers and raises the case. On the whole though, this was by far the match of the night."

But i think they worked the match exactly how they needed to and to the best that they could. The finish obviously sucks but other than that this isnt horrible. And actually the best match of the night. 2.50 stars"

It was a lot of fun watching the McMahon's get destroyed for the majority of the match and I personally really liked the spot of the ladders all collapsing at the entrance. Austin was bumping all over the place as well and my personal favorite spot of the contest is when Vince pushes over the ladder on the outside, sending him into an announce table where he slides off of it, making the bump look very nasty. The finish was also pretty creative, with the briefcase ascending higher and higher into the air when Austin is on the verge of grabbing it and then coming back down when The McMahon's are ready for the win. 3.5 stars at best as the crowd was very hot for this."

Both Vince and Shane take great bumps and Austin's charisma keeps everything interesting, with the crowd enjoying every single bit of it. I wish though that they at least showed who was pulling up the briefcase in the end, because the finish without it felt kinda meh."

Brawling down the aisle right off the bat then back in Austin kills them both. Shane gets posted, then the McMahons double team Austin. Vince goes for the ladder, but Austin beats him up. Shane saves. Austin tosses the McMahons into the ladder built entrance way, until the whole thing topples down on them in a cool spot. Austin hauls the official ladder into the ring, he rams Shane with it and he goes off the ring onto a table. Austin sets up the ladder outside and elbows Shane through the Spanish table. He goes back up, but Vince pushes him over and into the US announce table. Vince climbs the ladder back in the ring, but gets knocked off by Austin. Austin clobbers Shane with the ladder in the corner. Austin slingshots him into it, then stomps a mud hole in Vince. Austin climbs for the briefcase, but the ladder gets knocked over. Stunner for Vince and stunner for Shane. Austin climbs, and we are treated to the WWF's version of the white hummer as some unknown corporate member raises the briefcase so Austin can't reach it. This allows the McMahons the chance to knock Austin off again. Vince and Austin fight on the ladder, and Shane dumps both off, then climbs up and grabs the case for the win. I don't think they ever explained who was messing with the briefcase."

The storyline involved Shane being his own replacement and someone screwing Austin out of winning, which didn't actually affect anything. There's a few good spots, but it doesn't hold together and the novelty of seeing Vince getting beaten up wore off pretty quickly. And, like almost everything Russo booked, nothing actually mattered and very little actually made sense."

The final of the ladder match was kind of strange, but here it can be explained that you have to sacrifice someone in order to achieve the desired outcome."
