[4.0] "Yeah this is comfortably their weakest Japan match (haven't seen their earlier in the month one though). Much of that is having to work close to 20 minutes as oppose to under 10 mins like before but they also don't seem as inspired here. The crowd is behind Hogan but that dissipates through the long rest holds to the point where Hogan dropping Andre with an axe bomber which was a guaranteed huge pop before didn't get a whole lot. Their previous matches managed to fit a good amount of back and forth without it feeling phony in a short amount of time whereas here they chose to grind things to a halt and pick up in the final few, not terrible but a shame."

[2.0] "The crowd was hot the whole way through, so I guess they did as much as they could with as little effort as they could, which makes sense for an Andre match. Watching this match over 40 years later though, it's a tremendously boring match. It starts with stalling of course, then a walk and brawl from the crowd back to the ring, then a series of rest holds for nearly the entirety of the match with small moments of something happening. Unsurprisingly, the match end in a terrible double count out and the two of them continue to awkwardly brawl through exhaustion for a while. I almost feel generous rating this a two."

I thought NIPW was supposed to be where Hogan tried, but here he is, allowing a 15-minute series of 3 rest holds to pass for a match. This must have bored the crowd to tears. Bizarre choice to have Andre playing the role of weaselly heel at his size and reputation. Double count-out, because you can't even have a satisfying finish with these two, Avoid this match."

Seriously, absolutely nothing happened other than many rostholds that dragged on for an eternity, as well as Andre walking around the ring stalling for time, and some crummy strikes. An absolute waste of time. DUD."

[8.0] "Hogan '83 in Japan is a lot of fun, and I thought this worked well. Yes there was significant time used on 2 rest holds, a bear hug and a quasi-gator roll by Andre but it worked. And Hogan worked Andre's arm consistently. There was logic to all of it. The ending was as expected with two stars of this nature going at it in this type of competition, but both were able to shine, Hogan getting over big time against The Boss. I give a 8. It is certainly not Dynamite & Tiger Mask, and almost the exact opposite, but its a fun spectacle of two MAJOR stars, two giants clashing, and as they often did, they made it special."

Seriously don't watch this match unless you like Andre the Giant playing a chicken shit heel, loooooong rest holds, the worst jumping knee and leg drop ever followed by a shite finish. That's literally the match, which is a grueling and eye bleaching 18 minutes long."
