9 | 05.10.2024 | brooksavage2004 | 10.0 | Such a really phenomenal match between both men. The in ring action, submissions and spots are all absolutely superb and exhilarating, especially in the final stretch, the chemistry between TJP and Josh and their performances were absolutely spectacular. One of the best iron matches ever and it's the best match in the X Division Championship's history that doesn't have the likes of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels or Samoa Joe involved. |
10 | 17.09.2024 | thedr7q | 8.0 | Production wise, the transition from BTI to Impact was really cool and unique to watch. Felt like something only TNA could get away with. For the match itself, I watched this as a TJP fan who had never heard of Josh Alexander. Over the course of an hour, I became a Josh Alexander fan. The man's technical ability and intensity won me over. |

15 | 19.07.2024 | NOOBye | 9.0 | Ok where do i start, the final 15 minutes was simply AWESOME, with the pacing really high and with even the roster coming to see the rest of the match, i was absolutely hyped up, but let's not forget also the other 47 minutes, which was focused on submissions and limb works, not a hot match overall but the pacing was very consistent [4.5*] |
16 | 18.07.2024 | BigBadaBruce | | I love this match, I've rewatched it several times on YouTube, and what I love is that the pacing is near perfection. Alexander is one of the best wrestlers currently in the world, unfortunately unappreciated as he wrestles for TNA, but his chemistry with TJ is magical and their timing on the equalising fall is excellent. Alexander is a machine, and is one of the best all rounders in the world. |

19 | 23.04.2024 | Ariak | 2.0 | A lot of nice grappling and trading holds to open this up but around the 15 minute mark it just gets kind of ridiculous with sequences and holds that just rely on your opponent not doing anything while you tie them up. The spots where Alexander does the piledrivers where he's dropping TJP like 3 inches looked really dumb. Also for all the submission work here, neither of them really sell much of the limb work going on here. So much of this match just feels like stalling for time rather than doing anything meaningful or telling a story in the ring. Also this match largely happening on some pre-show didn't do it any favors because they wrestle a very reserved match for the majority of it and then actually turn it on when the TV show starts. They also undermine the whole point of the stipulation by going 1-1 as the time limit expires and going into sudden death. Why not just have them wrestle a normal match or a two out of three falls with no time limit if you were going to do this? Just a boring match that ruins its own stipulation for no good reason. |

21 | 16.02.2024 | nothingleftinside | 9.0 | Incredible iron man. Tons of mat sequences, counters, submissions, bumps to the outside, and it really gets down to the wire with several nail biting moments. And in an empty impact zone! Worth the watch. |
22 | 07.02.2024 | ShaliK | 9.0 | A very good match, very well booked. Alexander pulls out things I've never seen before. The match seemed a little long to me but nothing more. The only thing that bothered me was the crowd noise at times, while at other times it was silent. FYI, the match started at BTI and the last 10 minutes took place on the episode of Impact. (4*3/4) |

However, being rated against all matches from all time, this match settles in at the very good rather than the excellent. This was an engaging and exciting match, but the overall length of it, and the lack of crowd energy here does negatively impact it somewhat. I would give this a 7.5/10 if that was an option, but I'll drop down to 7/10 when pushed. |

Match was incredibly tense which made for a ton of fun and the last 10-15 minutes were downright legendary, Josh just kicking out of everything only to be pinned with a reversal to his ankle lock at the last second. Still won, but only barely. Just an incredible match all around, probably among the top 3 iron man matches I? ve ever seen, my only complaint being a very small amount of times where they seemed to be slightly out of synch. It really didn? t take away from how great this was though. ****3/4 |

Before watching it I couldn' t think this match was so good, given the duration, but those two managed to exceed my expectations. The final parts are great, with the entire roster cheering them on and even taking notes. The moment when TJP managed to pin Alexander with 2 seconds left is awesome and it was a great piece of storytelling. If we don't count the triple threat of Unbreakable 2005, this is the best match Impact Wrestling has ever put on |

Had this match get the response with a fanbase rooting for both men, it could've been extremely better at points with their reactions. But these two undoubtedly rose to the occasion and tussled a fascinating contest consuming the whole time limit leaving a superlative impact on each other. Josh Alexander's X-Division run truly cemented as one of the best runs after this thriller against one of the smoothest workers till date for me in TJP. This one dearly etched its mark as one of the best Impact matches on the era of Anthem Inc. 4.5 out of 5 stars! |

58 | 18.12.2021 | arrancar | 6.0 | Some good stuff here but not enough to justify a 60+ minute match. I at least appreciated them having a kayfabe reason for this match starting slow, since both men knew they had 60 minutes and thus wanted to conserve energy for late. This is much better than most 60-minute matches, almost always time-limit draws, where both guys are unusually slow for the sake of artificially extending the match to its limit. The first 20 minutes were engaging, with both guys slowly trading technical work that still managed to be active, varied, and realistic. TJP's "too cool" arrogance made him an easily detestable heel, especially when paired with all his flashy moves that showed he was talented enough to not even need to rely on such bravado and underhanded tactics. Even his submission transitions were really smooth and eye-catching. Alexander's pure-wrestler mentality was fun as always, and he backed it up with impactful power moves and painful-looking submissions. Sadly, after the first fall came out about 20-25 minutes in I started to zone out. I knew the match would only really pick up again either after the next fall had occurred or just further towards the end, so I wasn't able to buy into much of the work that took up the middle period. It was only in the final 15 ish minutes when they finally picked up the pace and intensity, and their exchanges and counters then became very good, especially in the final few minutes. Sadly, that strong final 1/4th wasn't enough to make up for the merely 'decent' first 3/4ths, meaning this match definitely didn't use its length in the best possible way. I really liked TJP evening the score up right at the very last second to send the match into overtime, and I liked that Alexander won soon after the restart, showing that TJP was almost good enough to entirely hang with Alexander but that Alexander ultimately could still reach further than him. Their selling and move execution was very good throughout the match, and I appreciate seeing something unique like a 60-minute Iron Man match, but I don't think this was a complete success, and certainly nothing I can imagine anyone rewatching in its entirety. Both men are still really good, though, and there was plenty of enjoy from both of them, hence why I still think this was a good match. ***1/4 |
59 | 14.12.2021 | MrCagematch | 1.0 | I finally found some time to watch this match after so many requests from my peers and it turned out to be a giant disappointment. Just a poorly structured match with bad pacing stalling just to pad the time limit. Bad match. |

64 | 16.10.2021 | Wright15 | 7.0 | This match had some very good technical wrestling and fast paced sequences dispersed between periods where not much happens. While it was hard hitting and had some great looking submission attempts, I felt that the match dragged in portions. The spot where Josh Alexander was threatening to drive TJP onto the floor (to the chagrin of the other wrestlers in the promotion) was a little strange because TJP ended up doing the same thing to Josh, but no one out there tried to stop him, yet they were all supposed to be faces. Still, the finishing stretch was well done and the match was very good overall. ***3/4 |

69 | 13.09.2021 | hassan01 | 10.0 | A 5 star match for sure , PPV worthy match . They had me on the edge of my seat for 64 whole minutes and that is impressive . I? ll go as far to call it the best iron man match that I have ever seen if we look at what we expected from Bret/Shawn and what we expected from Josh/TJP . What we got from them was a wrestling masterpiece .Marvelous story telling factor and very realistic and touching psychology connection . First of all , this was a technical artistry and beauty of it , the way this technical craft was executed on each other so smoothly and gingerly . Everything was crisp from the submission holds to the head locks and all . It had the presence of the hard hitting element as well . As time passed and things started to intensify so did the temperature inside the ring as vicious , brutal and blistering shots were traded back and forth with the other daring their adversary to give it a more extra . Intimidating the opponent , trying to have his number mentally because in the ring they were equally matched until the first fall. It was at the 20 minute when roll up sequence began and Josh got the first fall . Josh gains a lot of confidence after that and acts cocky and over confident as well . TJP has a loss of morale but keeps giving his all . Josh being the bigger man has a strength advantage and keeps over powering TJP. The iron match takes a toll on the body both physically and mentally and leads to Josh embracing the dark side for a few minutes where he attempts to hit a pile driver on TJP possibly concussing him and ending his career . Sabin , Petey , Eddie and Trey try to snap him out of it . This allows TJP to hit a slam on the ramp teasing a count out point for Josh . TJP after the first fall takes a lot of offence getting beaten to the pulp and attempts to fight back multiple times but it does not produce significant results . Josh works on the back and leg of TJP but TJP tries his best to avoid any further damage to be done there . TJP during the final stretch gives it his all but takes more time than usual due to the fatigue suffered . The detonation kick and mamba splash are not enough to put Josh away . Easy and simple , Josh had been dominating majority of the course and has more left in the gas tank . TJP does not , he is on spaghetti legs . A second attempt at the detonation kick is reversed into a ankle lock which during the last moments as a act of desperation is reversed into a roll up for TJP? s first point. This leads to match going over time and it starts off with a bang with both firing out all cylinders but in the end Josh is able to put TJP away after the pile driver after he is able to kick out of 2 big moves before that. I liked how they showed that they were tired and all as the match progressed and using roll ups as that gets the quick points . Using it as a desperation move due to being very stamina drained . Not being able to cover after a move because of the toll. The work rate was phenomenal . The match had |

71 | 01.09.2021 | Mizzle Assault Ant | 7.0 | This was undoubtedly a good match but I suppose I didn't enjoy it as much as most others did. Obviously the technical work is great throughout, Alexander hit some really nice bombs a few times, and there was a strong sense of urgency towards the end. But I thought it had some noticeable flaws as well. The first 20 minutes at least seemed far too dry to me, I know in a long match there's a feeling out process, but at times I felt like minutes would go by and nothing of interest would happen, so that's not great. I was also hoping for a stronger sense of strategy or story, there was a broadstrokes story that Alexander was more or less superior to TJP but Perkins was hanging in there, but it never progressed to something more interesting than the vague premise. I also found it strange that people came out and stopped Alexander from doing a move on the ramp, like, that's not exactly a career ender, just let the poor guy do the move he wants to do. I could nitpick further but it really was a good match, an hour is just a lot to fill and personally I thought there were opportunities to noticeably improve. Maybe a 30 minute runtime would have been more fun for me, though clearly most folks liked it best the way it is. |

The match can't really end before the one hour mark (or the half hour mark in some cases) and that steals the "can't miss" feeling of unpredictability a normal match has. Add to this the really overplayed gimmick of going to extra time (even though they executed it well with the last seconds roll-up by TJP) and this match type really ain't for me. With all that said though, they really tried hard and busted their asses for 60 minutes. They had a solid match, that could have benefited more if it was a normal match that happened to go an hour. |

These guys were 2 solid pros that did this type of match justice. Alexander bought some real physicality and intensity to the match throughout the match in comparison to TJP skill. Say what you want about TJP the person but man this guy so fucking good in the ring its unreal. He may not have much charisma in comparison to others but he wrestles so uniquely that his moves feel distinctly him, which is hard to do. Josh has been amazing as the X division champ and has shined a lot of spotlight on the title that it has been missing. These guys worked hard grappling style throughout the match with spots of burst intensity but i felt it didn't kick to that sudden energy until the last 10 minutes. I loved the grappling in the match and one of the more believable ways of doing the match with how it was laid out. Would love to see another match between these 2 |
