SoCal Val was no Miss Elizabeth for Jay Lethal's faux Randy Savage and her constantly cut-away-to facial expressions were ridiculous. The swerve ending for the sake of a swerve ending was stupid, as why would Val want to be with a guy who could've been about to lose the match? It would make far more sense for her to wait and hook up with the winner. Plus, at a basic level, Sonjay Dutt was always a pathetic goof, especially at the time with "The Guru" gimmick, no woman be interested in that. It's a shame that TNA was so hot and cold at the exact same time, without the storyline nonsense this match would be much better remembered and regarded. |

Some creative spots involving the ladders even if one particularly ambitious one did not come off in the slightest. The turn by So Cal Val could have been seen from space but it did give us the great "I am pissed, ohhhhh I am pissed" line from Don West so I am down with it. |

This was the culmination of the feud between Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt, stemming from Dutt ruining the wedding of Lethal and So Cal Val at Slammiversary. So the stipulation was that Val's wedding ring had to be retrieved from an elevated height. Weird goal aside, this was basically a ladder match, with some pretty cool spots. I only wish this match could have gone on longer. Had it gone another 5 minutes or so, this probably would have been a great match. The swerve at the end had So Cal Val turn on Jay Lethal, allowing Sonjay Dutt to win the match and make out with Val. I enjoyed the reaction from Don West, he played it perfectly. ***1/2 |

And that's what happened, a lot of great ideas that they had and executed perfectly, a story a little cheap they managed to make you a match of this quality, that's how talented these two guys are. Some X-Division excellence with ladders, a blast. |

An sich war das alles unterhaltsam gebbookt, nur die Matches wollten bis auf dieses hier einfach nicht zünden. Hier holen Lethal und Dutt aber schon fast das maximale an Spots aus einem Leitermatch raus. Dutts Rücken sieht auch dementsprechend ramponiert aus. Die Bumps sind heftig und es klappt auch nicht alles. Aber dennoch ist das Match zu keiner Sekunde langweilig. Das Finish ist gut gebookt und beendet diese Fehde würdig. |

No garbage headlocks and goddamn basic submission moves, just two athletes beating the crap out of each other. That was outstanding, the way they used the ladders was creative and brutal as hell. I was really pumped up and the crowd was insane. They loved it. This is how love storyline is done, impressive ending to a brilliant match. And the post-celebration? Hot. All in all, one more underrated TNA classic. |
