[7.0] "Val Venis had a lot of hype going for him with those hype videos, but Scorpio again shows why he was a great performer that was badly underutilised in his time at the WWF. He moves about like a cruiserweight. It's a solid back and forth TV match between two very talented guys."
[4.0] "I weren't that impressed with this debut match for Val. Scorpio looked great but Val is still coming to grips with his moveset and gimmick. I understand that Val had to win due it to being his debut, not just wished the match was a little bit better than it was."
[7.0] "Good debut for Val even though the match kind of fails in its purpose in that Scorpio looks the more impressive of the two. Both of these guys seriously underachieved given their talents."
[7.0] "This is Val Venis' debut, but it's a Scorpio showing through and through, which is probably for the best. He's light on his feet and nails plenty of fancy kicks that work the crowd to his favor. It's not given much more than 6 minutes, but by the time Scorpio lands one of his gorgeous Splashes from the top, you could have believed he had the match won there and felt satisfied. He misses a Moonsault shortly thereafter and Val picks up the scraps. I'd be surprised if Scorpio got as good of a shine here for the rest of his WWF run. ***1/2"
[4.0] "Val Venis' RAW debut is a bit underwhelming, which is kinda surprising considering they've been airing teasers for a couple of weeks leading up to this. Scorpio looks better than him in the ring, and that's a bit rough considering Too Cold's been mostly ignored except for his tag team bouts alongside Funk. Venis doesn't add much to the roster, and doesn't really showcase a particular style."
