[7.0] "A good match, even though I expected it to involve me more than I thought it would. We had some good wrestling, and the San Diego crowd exploded with Rey Mysterio's victory. (3*1/2)"

[9.0] "That was awesome. Mysterio is San Diego is like God on Earth, while both Benoit and Angle played on this fact. Fantastic TV sprint where you don't have a single second of no-action. That was flawless, and they had a dirty pleasure to go all out on each other. Mysterio's agility, Benoit's versatility and Angle's technical wizardry, that's surely creating some kind of magic. It only clocked nine minutes, which is even more incredible. Mysterio dictating the pace was also great, because it was going at 100 miles per hour. An intense back-and-forth sprint free on TV, that's something wild. Mysterio also brought even more tension between the two others, and that's pretty fun. The good old SmackDown Six struck again, and that was brilliant."

The problem is that Mysterio is often brushed aside and as a result this feels like a mini match between Benoit and Angle. Although this mini-match is great it leaves Mysterio very spare moments to be involved, but when he does get involved he steals the show. It's just a shame that he doesn't have enough time to shine fully in this match."

[10.0] "This is one of the absolute best pro wrestling matches Ive ever seen. Rey Mysterio, Kurt Angle and Chris Benoit got about as close to pro wrestling perfection as possible. The pacing was amazing. The layout of the match was amazing. The combination of mat work and high-flying fit together beautifully like two counter melodies that each give the other room to shine. This match had amateur/freestyle wrestling, expertly executed suplexes, including a belly-to-belly that saw Benoit flip Angle all the way over and Mysterio excitingly intervening after both Angle and Benoit got each other in their signature submission finishers. These three put together a classic that proves you dont need 15 or 20 or 30 minutes to tell an exceptional story. This match didnt need a prominent face/heel dynamic. It didnt need any added stakes either. All this match needed was what it had and that was three of the best in-ring performers ever having what in my opinion, could be the best pro wrestling match of all time."

[9.0] "This was in Rey's hometown of San Diego, and as such the fans are firmly behind him. For such a short match, this is damn near perfect. Everybody works together extremely well, and they all have a very clear role to play. The storytelling is simple, but very well executed - Benoit and Angle are so preoccupied with each other that they underestimate Mysterio, and Rey is forced to earn their respect. The match moves at a very fast pace and has no wasted motion. Rey is constantly trying to use his speed and resourceful to pull off the upset, and the mat wrestling between Angle and Benoit looks physical and intense as you would expect. There are some really great nearfalls and the crowd bites every time. Very underrated match (likely because of how short it is), and definitely much better than the majority of WWE's triple threat matches."

It's an exhausting sprint to watch with Mysterio keeping a fast pace and there's just a whole bunch of crazy spots and all three look amazing. Rey getting at that time his biggest win in the WWE in his hometown and never looking out of place sharing the ring with two of the most technically sound wrestlers ever."

The mat wrestling of Angle, the technical wrestling of Benoit, and the high flying of Mysterio were great here and Mysterio was definitely the highlight. This match was full speed ahead at the start and full speed ahead at the end. This match was epic on so many levels. There were so many great near falls and spots. Definitely one of the best WWE triple threat matches."

Rey also had the hometown crowd on his side so everything that he did got a really good reaction. Overall they kept the story consistent throughout and Rey would find a way to sneak the upset win.****"

[7.0] "It was hard to have a bad match when you have 3 of WWE's best facing off. The backstory here was that Benoit and Angle had unfinished business from the way Benoit screwed Angle to beat him at Unforgiven, but they were in Mysterio's hometown of San Diego, and Mysterio likewise had unfinished business with Angle from their Summerslam match, so Mysterio got thrown into the main-event as well. The story of the match itself then followed Benoit and Angle constantly trying to swat Mysterio away so that they could settle their personal issues, but Mysterio kept throwing himself back in the ring and catching them both off guard, proving that they couldn't take him lightly. Mysterio's acrobatics were all absolutely mesmerising, and he took some really nasty bumps to put his partners over as well. Benoit and Angle continued to impress with the intensity and aggression they displayed, especially whenever they faced off with each other and could show off their great brawling, technical exchanges, suplexes, and submission holds. The match ultimately followed the usual 3-way formula of having one guy (Mysterio) isolated on the outside to allow the remaining pairing (Benoit and Angle) to face off back in the ring, with that isolated member only ever running back in whenever it was time for their next spot. That being said, I appreciated how it was at least an active story of Benoit and Angle constantly and rather brutally throwing Mysterio to the outside to try discard him, making it believable that Mysterio would then require a while to recover before getting back in. That's much better than Mysterio being incapacitated on the outside due to only some insignificant attacks. I also thought there was great creativity due to the mix of styles from having two aggressive technical wrestlers and a high-flyer face off, making all of their 3-man spots and run-on sequences really entertaining. There was a slight bit of awkwardness in a few of their interactions, but all of those moments were always ultimately salvaged and thus insignificant because there were no outright botches. Mysterio felt like a star the way he constantly inserted himself in between the 'bigger' stars of Benoit and Angle in the most spectacular ways possible, and it was a very cool moment to see him pull off the upset as he doggedly kept going after them. ***1/2"

Das Timing hat halt echt immer gepasst. Natürlich hatte das Ganze hier keinen großen Tiefgang aber allein durch die wrestlerische Klasse war das hier ein echt gutes Match, welches in meinen Augen 8 Punkte verdient."

Such a great story too with Angle and Benoit's heated feud and them constantly wanting to one up each other and prove they're the better wrestler with Rey adding an interesting dynamic with his more high-flyer speed type style being an annoyance for the other two making for some great spots. Such an awesome main event and adding this to the already great Eddie vs Edge on the same show probably makes one of the best Smackdown episodes ever."
