Bobby Eaton & Stan Lane vs. Fatu & Samu

[9.0] "Great match, underrated in my opinion. Samoan Swat Team is not, like, greatest ever but they had a really good night here, and MX, well, they actually might be the best team of all time so obviously they were awesome."

[7.0] "They did a great job with filling these 20 minutes with an interesting action. Both teams always seemed to have a good chemistry with each other and Bobby with Stan really were an underrated babyface team, bringing a lot of energy to the table. Good pace, decent heat parts from Fatu and Samu and an exciting finish."

[7.0] "For all their booking shortfalls, WCW had really figured out the concept of the hot opener by this point and this is no exception. SST are in after getting turfed from World Class for daring to be more over than the Von Erichs, and they put on a good show against the always reliable Midnight Express. A notch below some of the stuff the Midnights did with other guys before this, but still a really good 20 minutes. The finish was a bit lame but they knew what they had with Heyman and Cornette and were just trying to stretch it out as long as they could."

[6.0] "A good albeit long match with some good work by both teams but had the tired old screwy finish. Which while in this case was done to establish a storyline was and quite frankly is too prevalent in wrestling."

[6.0] "Solid opening match, but it took a little while to get going and ended up being longer overall than what would have been ideal. The action in the last quarter or so was pretty good and the spot where the Samoans start fighting each other always amuses me, but the match definitely would have benefitted by dropping around five minutes off the runtime."

[6.0] "The Samoan Swat Team's run starts off pretty good in the company, as Paul E. brings them in to dispatch the Midnight Express after they drove the Original Midnight out of the company. Fatu and Samu work well together. The Midnight Express brings it like usual here. Solid match here to start the Clash off."

[8.0] "The feud has developed between Jim Cornette and Paul E. Dangerously, who has brought in his new team, The Samoan Swat Team, to dispatch the Midnight Express after they ran Dennis Condrey and Randy Rose out of the company. It's the Midnight Express, so the match is going to be good. That's not the question. The question is, "How good will it be? " The answer is, "Pretty good". All of their moves are crisp and quick and the SST was good team as well. The only thing I recommend is turning it on mute so you don't have to listen to Michael Hayes on commentary. He always struck me as a sleazy car salesman and he is horrible during this match, doing his worst Jesse Ventura imitation."

[6.0] "This was an okay match, could have been better if they shaved five minutes off it. I liked SST's stiff strikes."

[7.0] "I thought this was a fun opener between these two team with both managers adding to it. Finish was a big la, e but fun enough until then ***1/2"

[6.0] "I thought this was just a little to long, the slower parts of the match went for way to long and the fact that there was two of them slowed this match way down. The crowd was hot for the hot tags though and the SST did there part in this as well"

[6.0] "This was fine but easily the worst match in the Cornette/Heyman feud up until then. It just kept going on and on and on forever, which was unnecessary, but it was still good enough. [**3/4]"

[6.0] "Solid opener. Missed its peak by about 15 mins after the first hot tag which hurt the rating a bit. Shorten this one for a bit and it might've been the exciting hot opener they were aiming for. [***]"

[6.0] "This was pretty good albeit a bit too long. The crowd as always were crazy for the Midnight Express and the Samoans held up their part of the bargain for the most part. The lame finish hurt my rating a bit."
