03.07.2025 | FakeNoobe | 8.0 | This was an interesting match to watch. It was not long enough to be an epic. These two are still early in their careers before they become the legendary 4 pillars of heaven. However, I see the potential these two have already. They have great chemistry and pull off some nice brawling in the match. I do like the effect of Taue bleeding in the match. I feel like it adds to the match well. I feel like this match is a 4 stars because I feel like they haven't hit their full potential match wise.
27.06.2025 | 2violent4tv | 8.0 | One of the best under 15-minute matches I've ever seen. It kicked off with a burst of violence with both Kawada and Taue making it clear they had something to prove. The later cutaways to Jumbo Tsuruta and Mitsuharu Misawa added an extra layer of meaning and tension. I can't say it bothered me too much, especially since I appreciated the fluidity of Taue's offense. However, he did spend a considerable amount of time keeping Kawada locked in submission holds, which somewhat dragged down the match's overall intensity.
21.06.2025 | Aliiadwana | 6.0 | well that was fine and this is surprising especially that am a BIG BRAWL FAN and am i fan of these two so i at least expected this to be better than it really was tho i don't it was bad i just expected this to turn out better and ngl i thought the action was mostly boringggggg. ***1\4

02.04.2025 | OwenEdwards | 8.0 | This is a very good brawl but not an all-timer. There are some nice ideas and moments - I like that Taue knows he's up against it so takes the fight to Kawada early, and that back in the ring he's trying to work leg holds, partly to wear Kawada down and partly to just stop Kawada running around kicking him. The ending, with the exhausted but absolutely massive Northern Lariat from Kawada, is great. There are some really good snug exchanges here too. It's good brawling because it's high-intensity and everything looks good and (relatively) matters - there isn't the problem of it being a cover for bad workrate or poor skillsets. However, despite the blood, it only occasionally goes truly insane, and it doesn't have the sort of greater structure and variety that something like Kawada vs Hansen '93 has - it's mostly just strikes, basically. It's a nice story progression, and worth watching. 4/5

11.01.2025 | Omarhion | 10.0 | What a sprint! Taue stepped into the ring, intending to hurt Kawada. He whoops his ass all around ring-side and only lost control when Kawada caught him on the apron and responded to everything Taue had done by slamming his head repeatedly on the fence. Blood just spilling everywhere from the cut on Taue's head and at one point, Kawada slaps the blood off Taue's face. Incredible stuff. By the end, even Dangerous K is left drenched in Taue's blood. A brilliant closing stretch to close out a wonderful match. 9/10 EDIT: After rewatching this again, this is a 10/10.

08.12.2024 | Luna100 | 9.0 | A really rough match. This does not stick to the conventions of a big All Japan match, as it is not that long, and bloody with a lot of work on the outside of the ring, this feels out of place by at least a few years. However, this one of the reasons for its greatness, I can really feel Kawada's hate, as Taue left Super Generation Army for Tsuruta-gun. Taue tried to take away Kawada's legs, but that did not prevent the onslaught. ****1/4

07.09.2024 | ZooWee | 8.0 | What a brawl. The hatred that these two showed for eachother in their previous tag meetings is on full display here. Before the match even starts, Taue and Kawada brawl down to ringside during another match and have to be separated by security. Then when their match is actually scheduled to start later in the night, Taue doesn't wait for Kawada to get in the ring before ambushing him and attacking his leg with a chair, which becomes his target for the rest of the match. Taue continues his assault on Kawada but gets a bit too cocky when he just stands on the apron kicking a still recovering Kawada in the head. Kawada, seemingly having enough of Taue's shit, drags him off the apron and starts repeatedly smashing his head into the guard rail then manages to land a few chair shots which bust Taue open. This blood is a great visual which really adds to the match, as the wound gets worse as the match progresses and stains not only Taue, but Kawada as well. Kawada attempts to turn the match in his favour, but Taue is able to regain control when he starts to attack Kawada's leg again. He first just goes after it with kicks but then quickly escalates his attacks by dropping Kawada knee first on the announce table. While Taue mostly dominates here, Kawada is still able to get in a few strikes which rock Taue and he eventually picks up the win with a surprise lariat to the back of Taue's head. Despite only being 11 minutes long, every second here is utilised to it's fullest and every move feels like it has a supreme burning hatred behind it. Such a great match that really set the stage of what was to come between these two in the future. ****1/4

21.05.2024 | NIC26 | 9.0 | January 15th, 1991 - As we saw in the 1990 skirmishes, Taue's defection to Tsuruta-gun made him the target of bitter revenge attacks from his former contemporaries. In the month of January he was signed to compete in a trial series to toughen him up, and prove himself as an elite level fighter without his mentor Tsuruta by his side. As well as facing gaijin names like Dan Spivey, Giant Kimala, Abdullah The Butcher and Johnny Ace, he was also scheduled to face Kobashi, Kawada and Misawa. The exchanges between Taue and Kawada in the multiple tag bouts we saw in the second half of 1990 were particularly vicious, so expect this to be similarly heated. A complete hidden gem amongst the litany of classics coming out of All Japan in the 1990's. Stylistically it is different but the struggle and intelligent story-telling are still very much in full effect here. In the setting of a Trial Match Series where Taue is trying to prove his toughness, it was a very clever premise to have him rush Kawada during his entrance then try to make a statement by refusing to even let him enter the ring. Kawada's response was to beat him on the floor so badly that he started to bleed heavily, essentially FORCING Taue to let him in because it is safer than brawling outside with 'Dangerous K'. As a transition from one segment of a match to another it doesn't get much smoother, more logical or compelling than that. From there it became a savage, animalistic race to the finish line as Kawada tried to knock Taue out before Akira broke his leg. The sight of Jumbo in the crowd, watching his bloody protege beat the snot out of Kawada, a student of Jumbo's old rival Tenryu, showed you how deep this rivalry goes. Although Taue didn't win here, his toughness was ably demonstrated when Kawada broke out the classic Tenryu small package pin as well, a concession that he didn't want to stay in the ring with Taue any longer and just wanted to escape with a win. An absolutely great match; short, bloody, intense and one where no knowledge of the back story is strictly necessary to enjoy it. Taue might be covered in blood, but he is the one back on his feet first. He swings a couple of cheap shots at Kawada (getting medical attention on the canvas) as ringside personnel pull him away. ****1/2

21.06.2023 | Fifth Pillar | 10.0 | So much to love here. I love that there's a little kid front & centre ringside for this massacre. I love that a blood-splattered Taue keeps going back to the legwork in between Kawada's raging explosions of ultraviolence. I love that once Taue succumbs to the hate, it's suddenly Kawada trying to sneak a win with wrestling holds. I love the blistering near-falls & sudden finish. A unique, standalone classic *****
15.06.2023 | JakobV | 7.0 | An amazing performance by both in this match. Taue has such amazing brutality, keeping this match extremely heated at its high points. Some of the lower points in the match slightly drag, but when these two are on they kill it. A great match that is often lost in the grand scheme of things.

01.05.2023 | Aquaislyfe | 7.0 | Starts out super hot with aggressive action right out the gate. Taue and Kawada do an amazing job getting across the intensity behind the match. The finishing sequence has a similar energy. The problem comes in the middle where it feels like things really drag. Fortunately, the match is short and sweet so that drag doesnt have the chance to kill the hype, but it is what keeps this from feeling like a true classic.
21.04.2023 | bigsubwoofer | 9.0 | A vicious brawl full of stiff kicks and stomps. Taue bled buckets out of his head making for a very intense visual. This was far more violent than the average hardcore match from today and the realistic brawling added to the brutality. The short length meant it was all killer no filler and the action never lets up which also adds to the realistic vibe.

30.06.2022 | dingbatwhirr | 9.0 | Tremendous match. An ultraviolent, bloody brawl, where you can feel the hatred oozing out of the screen. Not a single wasted second. Every scrap of offence, from strikes ot submissions, looks vicious and an intended to cripple the other wrestler. Taue tries to destroy Kawada's leg, whereas Dangerous K is content to bash Taue's face in until he's a bloody mess. Some great nearfalls down the stretch. The match always feels like it could go in either direction, despite Taue's dominant brutality. I love the finish too: it's technically a pinfall, but effectively a knockout. Highly recommended.
29.05.2022 | ferrante207 | 10.0 | An all time wild brawl. As a fan of shorter matches, this really hit home for me. No wasted motion just kitchen sink brutality. Taue was fighting like a war criminal that gave no care for the traditional rules of engagement. I have this at 4 3/4 and enjoyed it more than many epics.
27.05.2022 | TSwifty | 7.0 | An 11 minute banger. You could feel the animosity here. They brawl on the outside for a bit and Taue gets a crimson mask only minutes into the match. Kawada hurts his knee and Taue targets it. Kawada's selling is exceptional as always. Whenever either man increased the intensity and went killer mode with their offense it was awesome. Kawada winning the match by just smacking Taue in the head out of nowhere is all kinds of awesomeness that few matches ever achieve. ***1/2
