[4.0] "Actually, it was a pretty boring and uninteresting match. Bret was working on his opponent's leg almost the entire time and nothing happened. And the ending was too fast. That's why I don't recommend watching it."
[6.0] "Goldust shows enough aggression for me not to consider this as a squash, but this was a pretty one-sided match with a vintage Bret Hart doing what he does best where he picks Goldust apart weakening the knees, which does end up playing to the finish. Goldust sells it so well that when he gets a brief comeback spot, it doesn't last long because of the sustained damage he took, which I thought was really well done. The promo before the match was notable because Bret doesn't go with the typical anti-USA rant he was doing all year with him wanting payback on Shawn Michaels after what he did to the Bulldog. He was clearly the lesser of two evils in that feud. All hell broke loose after the match with DX and the Hart Foundation coming out brawling and then Undertaker winds up standing tall for a fire ending to the show!"
[6.0] "After a minute or so of decent brawling, Hart starts chopping down Goldust with leg kicks and this match becomes one big control segment. Bret knows how to work a decent control segment, but he wasn't exactly giving to Goldust and it's clear that Bret is building himself up and not elevating Goldust. This was a fairly formulaic outing for Bret. Lawler's commentary on Marlena got tiresome quickly. HBK comes out but doesn't come down to the ring until the match is over as Goldust predictably taps out to the sharpshooter. A big brawl follows as Raw goes off the air. The match itself was fine, with some great punches from both men to counter-balance the repetitive nature of the legwork. Even Bret on auto-pilot is better than most workers."
[6.0] "This was pretty one-sided with Bret dominating a lot of the match but I thought this was still pretty enjoyable. Bret works the left leg of Goldust and Goldust sells it well. I loved how Goldust wasn't able to sustain offense for long in this match due to how damaged his left leg was.***1/4"
[7.0] "Mildly enjoyable Raw main event, that obviously fails in comparison to other happenings on the night, such as Austin? s arrest and the debut of Cactus Jack and essentially the birth of the Attitude Era as a whole. This was such a historic night for wrestling."
[6.0] "Solid match between Bret and energetic Goldust, even if the commentary focused on Terri the entire time. Best spot was Bret's Figure-4 around the post and the ref tell him to let go, to which Bret responds, "WHY? ! ". The was never in doubt and the match was there only to forward storylines, but they still put on an enjoyable performance before all the run ins after the match."
