[6.0] "A solid match between these two. Cody was starting to find his feet on his own and he was in the ring with the right opponent to help him progress. The finish was great"
[8.0] "Very fun match between young Cody and Rey Mysterio. I loved their mini feud as a kid growing up. The story regarding the mask and the knee brace was so funny. I'd love to see them wrestle again, especially knowing that Father Time is ticking for Rey, and that Rey played a huge part in helping launching Cody's career as a singles guy when he pushed for their first match to happen at wrestlemania. Good food right here for an undercard match, leading to Cody getting a big time win in his city. ***3/4"
[6.0] "Actually a solid match. I don't think these two have had a bad match ever. Cody's mask was pivotal but I do have to agree with Cole, Rey using it should have been considered a disqualification. The ref clearly trying to screw on Cody."
[6.0] "Another Perfectly Adequate Wrestling Match. I was a really big fan of "Un-Dashing" Cody Rhodes as a gimmick and I still think it's great. He's certainly leveled up as a worker since then, but he was in there with a game Rey Mysterio to offset that into a very solid if not remarkable midcard match."
[6.0] "This was a really enjoyable midcard match that did its job well. Cody played the bitter, unhinged heel perfectly, and Rey was, as always, the ultimate underdog. The storytelling was clear, the pacing was solid, and the finish made sense giving Cody a big win that actually meant something. Nothing over the top, but a clean match."
[7.0] "***1/2 (07/10) 13 years before he finished his story, the American-Nightmare finished a story with a lucha legend who broke that dashing nose of his. Another fight that could have been longer, but was Vince really about to give a decent amount of time to a Mt. Rushmore GOAT - who was too small for his tastes - and the son of a son of a plumber? Not in this world. Wait till you see which match was handed more time. The match was awesome, by the way, just shorter than one would hope. But what else would you have expected from these two generational talents? I guess the Cross-Rhodes was more lethal back in 2011 than it is today, because it only took one for Cody to get the win."
[6.0] "Solid match between 2 good workers in Mysterio and Rhodes. I don't know if it was worth putting on a Mania card but it told the story they wanted to tell very well. Probably would've been a good midcard match on a smaller PPV."
[6.0] "This is also a good match of basic face vs heel with undashing Cody trying to mask off Rey but fails hilarious, yet still manages to win is insane. Wished this mania kept the decent pace of first two matches instead of the shit we get later"
[6.0] "solid match, but a cody match at wrestlemania needs more. could've used more john cena run ins, the rock run ins, solo sikoa run ins, jey and jimmy run ins..... you get the picture ***1/4"
[6.0] "I really enjoyed this feud at the time that it first aired. The match ends up being pretty solid, but it's lacking that 'spark' to really set it apart. It's worked at a decent pace, and the storyline gives them something to play off with a couple of fun ideas like when Rey puts on Cody's mask to use it against him. Truthfully, it wouldn't look too out of place on a random episode of Smackdown, but it's at least enjoyable for its spot on the card."
[5.0] "This was a decent match, but I don't think they did a good enough job of building this as a WrestleMania-caliber match. So much credit goes to Cody Rhodes for just fully committing to the dead on arrival characters he was being given around this time."
[5.0] "A bang average match. For a Rey Mysterio match, I'm quite honestly surprised at how slow paced and lethargic it was. This match essentially moved at one speed and never deviated the entire time. The only impressive moment in the entire match was the stalling superplex, which was a really cool spot that you rarely see. Other than that, it was a standard match. Cody controlled most of it, which was good, but the bout never had any fire or much excitement to it. Nothing bad at all here, but I'd say they underdelivered to a degree."
[7.0] "Another really solid match, it told a decent story with how Dashing Cody became Un-dashing and there was some fun stuff revolving around his nose mask."
[9.0] "In the minority here but I love absolutely everything about this match. They had a very good back and forth, the presentation was there for both Grotesque Cody Rhodes and Captain America Rey Mysterio, and Cody got the big win. This match is exactly something you want from a midcard Mania match, and its unironically my favorite WM27 match"
[7.0] "Decent match. Basically just Rey using his speed to outpace Cody, and Cody using his power to shut down Rey's offence. Both of them targeted eachother's protective gear, Cody targeting the knee brace of Rey and Rey targeting Cody's protective mask. This also plays into the finish as Cody removes Rey's knee brace and uses it later on, hitting Rey with it and then hitting a Cross Rhodes for the win. Really solid match, nothing out of this world or anything, but it's arguably the second best match on the Mania 27 card, which I think is a testament to how shitty Mania 27 overall. ***1/2"
[7.0] "Good match, Rey putting on the mask and using it was interesting but didn't really provide much advantage as he lost immediately after it. 6.5/10"
[8.0] "I thought the build-up to this match was a fantastic piece of work since it gave both men the chance to show off their greatest wrestling skills and personas. Both men's careers reached their pinnacle at this point, but Cody's has been the most successful since he has been able to locate the appropriate shoes to fit in. The "Undashing" character was THE finest creation of his time in the WWE, and I would want to see the current American Nightmare reprise any kind of viciousness. Yet, a fantastic combat with excellently detailed layers supported the strong story arc. The emotional aspect of this competition was greatly enhanced by both guys utilising each other's protective gear as weapons to exact revenge. Mysterio might have easily won this match, but Cody's victory enhanced the value of his upbeat attitude, making the continuation of this feud much greater. 4 out of 5 stars!"
[7.0] "A very solid midcard match with some great heelwork from Cody. I liked Mysterio taking Cody's mask and using it to headbutt Cody and Cody then taking Mysterio's knee brace to counter the suicide dive."
[4.0] "A disappointing match. I expected a lot more from a poster like this. A lot of slowness in this match which should have been rhythmic knowing the 2 wrestlers."
[7.0] "The match had a great story behind it and it delivered in the ring too. Lots of good near falls and sequences, a very fun match. The finish with the knee brace was also a nice touch. [***1/2]"
[8.0] "I loved this match. It was short but had some great moments, some surprising near-falls, and best of all it told a unique story with Cody's mask."
[5.0] "This is taking place because Rey smashed Cody's face in with his knee brace causing him to be 'disfigured' and forcing him to wear a mask. They try to do a lot of stuff here with Rey's brace and Cody's mask, but it doesn't land well because the fans just aren't buying into Cody's new gimmick. Cody hits a very impressive stalling superplex and there are some neat sequences here and there, but you can't help to think that these two could of had a much better outing if they were limited by all the gimmicky stuff with the mask and such."
[5.0] "Fans didn't care about this match at all, which I think makes it sort of a bore to watch. Undashing Cody is a cool gimmick, and I thought this feud with Mysterio was good, but this felt like a run-of-the-mill weekly TV match."
[6.0] "This match had a great build and Cody had a great gimmick transformation. But the nat itself is meh, Cody isn't that vicious like his character had been. The finish was good."
[6.0] "I thought this was a decent enough match to end their feud. Alright match and I've certainly seen them have better matches together but I thought this was good enough. I think it was forgotten about due to being on this Mania."
