[2.0] "Well, that's about as lame as such a thing can be in the worst case scenario. Everyone starts in the middle of the ring and no one has a plan for what needs to happen. And so, after an unfocused opening phase, they start jumping over the ropes one after the other in order to meet the time restrictions. Even the finish with the double clothesline is really embarrassing. I think this is one of the worst Battle Royals I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Two points for a little star power."
[7.0] "Very nice battle Royale. Better than I was expecting. Good job, el Higante. He really deserved it. In my opinion the person who did the best was Steve Austin."
[4.0] "It was a pretty standard Battle Royal - nothing to write home about. With 15 guys mostly just punching and kicking, there wasn't much of a story, aside from a bit of Austin vs Windham. The crowd seemed somewhat into it, and they actually popped for El Gigante's win."
[2.0] "They're really trying hard with El Gigante, this time hiding him in a battle royal. Some good workers in this but either they couldn't be bothered or worse, were directed to do nothing. It coasted along until Gigante throws out a couple of other big dudes to win, and even that looked bad."
[3.0] "I didn't think this was quite as horrible as some of the other commenters. It was a fairly eclectic lineup of competitors, and I thought that at least made it interesting even if the action was pretty poor. I did like the spot where everybody came at One Man Gang in the corner, but other than that (and Bobby nearly taking out a camerman) this was fairly worthless. I mostly just came out of this feeling sorry for poor Barry Windham."
[1.0] "This Battle Royal was absolutely dreadful; one of the worst I've ever seen. Another reason this match sucks is because it was so obviously here to try and use as a vehicle to get El Gigante over. Very disappointing start."
[5.0] "El Gigante's first attempt at becoming WCW's version of Andre the Giant, which would ultimately prove unsuccessful as he had no skills of Andre. Unlike everyone else, I still love the battle royal as a match. I had no idea Ranger Ross was still with the company at this point and Kevin Nash as Oz is just so bad, it's good. But this was a decent enough battle royal for what it was..."
[3.0] "A battle royal is the perfect spot for El Gigante, he can walk out so the crowd can go "ohhh isn't he tall" and then you eliminate him while hiding his limitations as much as possible. WCW decided to have him win this. The tease of an Austin and Windham feud was good if you ignore the fact Windham has gone from the title match in the previous PPV to the bums battle royal at the following Clash."
[0.0] "Absolutely awful, good-for-nothing, time-wasting hot garbage bullshit as this company just wouldn't quit on the idea of pushing El Gigante. What a mess of an opener, the cameras missed a handful of eliminations and the whole thing was simply a disaster. [DUD]"
[0.0] "What the hell is this crap? It did no one favor, and accomplished nothing apart from making El Gigante look good. Fuck this. What a horrible way to open a show. [DUD]"
