Abdullah The Butcher vs. Terry Funk

[5.0] "Not really seeing the greatness in this I'm afraid. For me to give a 10 means it's an 'all-time classic' and not just a good brawl. While it was good enough for a **3/4 , not a lot else happened for me to give it higher."

[10.0] "Another awesome brutal match between two of the hottest legends of this time. Funk by now has learned how to take the fight to Abby on his level, this gets bloody and violent pretty much instantly and the whole match is barely controlled. I loved it."

[9.0] "My favourite Abdullah vs Terry match. This is a great spectacle : I love Terry's selling of the knee, his offense, his ear blleding, the screams of Abdullah when he kicks Terry. Post-match brawl was fantastic, chairshots and Terry punches Abdullah in the dick !"

[7.0] "The battle rages on between Terry and Abdullah here. This time for the United National Title. I think this is one of the better matches psychology wise between the two. Terr gets in a lot of offense and fires the crowd up for the first fall and seems to be about to finish of Abdullah when Abdullah finds the perfect moment to strike back and takes out Terry's knee which Terry sells wonderfully. After that and into the third fall it falls apart a bit but man I was seriously thinking a 9 or 10 for this one through the first 2 falls."

[7.0] "This doesn't reach the level of their all-time war in April of the same year, but it's another chaotically entertaining showdown between two guys who ain't afraid to go berserk on each other. Say what you want about Abby, but he always played his role to the absolute max, and such was the case here. Abdullah was a total monster in this one, manically destroying the Funker and picking him apart like a true ogre. Terry Funk put on an absolute babyface masterclass in return, fighting tooth and nail, constantly selling and struggling for survival. We got a double disqualification in the end, as these two simply can't be contained via a normal stip, and all hell broke loose as the two continued brawling like there was no tomorrow. [***1/2]"

[8.0] "This was great. Exactly what you want out of a Terry Funk vs Abdullah the Butcher match. A red hot crowd, blood, great selling and a whole lot of chaos. Definitely worth a watch."

[7.0] "This was not what people would call a mat classic but was a really good fight. Once again if you are aware of AJPW in this time period you get a non finish but other than that you get Terry Funk at his best. He knew how to play the babyface when he wrestled in Japan."

[6.0] "This is a defense of Abdullah's NWA United National title, which he won from Jumbo Tsuruta three weeks earlier in a match that as of writing has not surfaced amongst the AJPW footage in circulation. I still don't think this is quite as well-done as his 1978 match against Billy Robinson, but he gets another relatively solid singles match in AJPW here, buoyed by an awesome Terry performance. Non-finish is expected, but effectively done. ***"
