[7.0] "This was a lot of fun and all four guys worked hard. Kawada got the chance to show the most trying to bring the fight to his larger opponents. Tenryu was solid as the dominant force on his team. Takano was a lot of fun here too."

"Didn't expect much from this, but the action is solid, it doesn't waste the viewer's time and the crowd is into it. ***"

[7.0] "Wasn't expecting much here, but Tenryu and Kawada as a team can just elevate anything. I'm so used to Earthquake, seeing Tenta here was quite the change of pace from his WWE work. No real flow of a match, just each team throwing bombs at one another in different segments. ***3/4"

[7.0] "Thus was an excellent match. Fast start with Tenryu and Takano and the crowd never lost interest. Tenta the big Canadian Earthquake played his part well he didn't stay in the ring for long periods hit some big man moves. His two opponents used kicks and chops to bring him down and at one stage took him to the outside using a chair and the barrier to bring the big man down. Tenryu and Kawada were both good here as was Takano."

[6.0] "The Tenryu-Kawada Express continues into the new year after their runner-up showing in the 1988 RWTL. On the face of it this may not sound too remarkable, but they're such a solid team, and Takano and Tenta make for a good power unit for them to go against. This is one of those matches that is elevated just by Tenryu being in his zone. ***"
