Things really slowed down at one point when Goldberg just started punching Sid all over the ring, but the overall idea was good. Goldberg looked like a menace, Sid's blade job did wonders here, and his selling was beautiful, plus fans genuinely weren't expecting it, which made it even better."

The Outsiders attack Goldberg before the bell, but then Goldberg almost immediately comes back and dominates Sid. What was the point of the attack? Just to make Sid look weaker for not being able to capitalize? Sid and his blood did a decent enough job of selling, but Goldberg had no idea how to work the match. And honestly, since the face/heel dynamic was a mess, I can't even entirely blame him. It was kind of interesting to watch as an oddity, but it was definitely not a good match."

It was simple stuff done perfectly and I loved it."

[5.0] "forgive me for not knowing WCW 1999 lore but what was the aim here? Seems like they tried to shoot a double turn but they loved Goldberg too much for it to mean anything. Sid gets the shit kicked out of him for 5 mins even tho Goldberg got jumped to start the match. way to make sid look even shitter. the thing is Sid did such an unreal job in this match. his selling and blood was some of the best ever and his little fire was also insane. But my ponderance on whether the aim was a double turn or not lay in the fact that if the roles were reversed the crowd would have frothed the fuck out of this. weird match. so enthrawling tho"

Sid was phenomenal here and despite being a heel all thru the buildup to the match you wouldn't be able to tell by just watching this match. This was basically a babyface performance from Sid and almost a heel like performance from Goldberg. Odd matchup with a weird flat finish and a pointless outsiders run in at the start. Shoutout to Sid 3/5"

Sid makes on of the best bladejobs of the era an the image of him bleeding like a pig and Goldberg stained with his blood is an image what I will reemember many years. ****. If they would let Sid keep fighting and with a cleener finish, it would be even higher."

[3.0] "The individual work in this match from Sid here is really beast and at least Goldberg can throw some punches and stiff so for those 7 minutes you get a okay match that's kind of bogged down by Goldberg just not being a very good wrestler at all. I would have liked to see Sid fight back."
TigerDiver wrote on 31.03.2024:
[6.0] "Well, this was certainly something. Sid is far and away one of the least skilled wrestlers ever in the sport, but even I have to admit his bladejob during this whole session was amazingly brutal. Goldie did a great job working on the cut and beating him up. But man, Sid's blading made this better than it had any right to be. Goldberg won the US Title for the second time thanks to Sid's massive blood loss that warranted a referee stoppage. [**3/4]"

It was actually close to being a flat-out awesome match but the near total lack of actual moves did kind of prevent it from reaching that level. I was definitely not expecting this match to be anything like this, so it was a welcome surprise."

The heel/face dynamic was confused here, and Sid didn't exactly sell the beating as well as he could have done, but compared to some of the other older wrestlers here it was pretty good."

[6.0] "Due to the time given for this match it was never going to blow you away but in that short time it felt like a car crash, pure blood and brawling wrestling made simple is sometimes the best way to tell a story in the ring. Maybe if The outsiders had a role as managers in the match for example then the score would higher than 6 it would tell the story of Goldberg being forced to beat the odds 1 on 3 but other than that cant complain too much. Oh and Sid bleeding like crazy fucking badass, one of the most underrated cuts in wrestling history that was the good old days that you miss so bad."

[8.0] "A brutal match, that was far from formulaic. Neither Sid or Goldberg hit many of their normal power moves, and instead became embroiled in an intense brawl in and out of the ring. My main critique would be the pacing of the match, which I believe could have benefited from a few short minutes at the start with both men hitting some of their big power moves in a back and forth manner before getting into the brawl itself."
Mr Bungle wrote on 22.03.2021:
[4.0] "Notable for Sid getting busted open and bleeding all over the place, but other than that, it was mostly 7 minutes of both guys punching each other. I honestly can't think of a single move Goldberg did in this entire match. To his credit, Sid sold his injury and fatigue rather well, making it believable that the referee had no choice but to step in and call the match."
Mudshow Idol wrote on 18.12.2020:

Mizzle Assault Ant wrote on 25.11.2020:
