Lawler's constant disgust at Mankind's Mr. Socko comes to mind as one of the all-time greatest Lawler-isms while watching this. The match itself was rather average, but it hit it goal in getting Mankind over withe crowd."

The match was okay nothing crazy, Jerry was using a hidden object and is really focusing on Mankind's ear and he even bites it at one point. Mankind got the win with the mandible claw after a reversed Piledriver."

[6.0] "I thought the match was okay. Lawler is a good opponent for Mankind because he naturally draws heat from the crowd, who was starting to get behind Foley's misunderstood character. Lawler is a very old school wrestler to watch, which can sometimes be hit and miss in this era, but he does some solid work here where he consistently targets Mankind's ear. They never show what Lawler's hidden weapon is supposed to be on camera. I'd say my main problem really was that I thought he was in control for too long. No matter who he's wrestling, Foley is a man who takes a tumble and they always look like they hurt! The crowd stay behind him throughout and JR's call when Lawler gets caught in the Mandible Claw was pure gold."

[6.0] "Mankind is starting to get some cheers from the fans, so it's a perfect time to start his babyface turn and there's no man better at garnering him some sympathy than Jerry Lawler. Lawler put in a great performance here, using all the old-school heel tricks such as using a concealed weapon, trash-talking, eye gouging, and just being a proper slimy bastard all-around. Mankind further scrabbles his brain by taking some nasty barricade spots, which I don't think were needed here as his selling and the great heat segment did more than enough to get the fans behind him. After his piledriver isn't enough to put away his opponents, Lawler goes night-night after Mankind locks on the Mandible Claw. I never believed that Lawler stood a chance, but he did his job in warming Mankind up for the finals. I wish we got more lengthy Lawler matches on PPV, as he was fantastic here."

Paul Bearer is too busy with The Undertaker to give a crap about poor Mankind. Lawler has to go to the tights for some jabbing weapon and gives him a couple of shots in the heck area and the head. Outside Mankind gets thrown into the steps then Lawler bangs the back of his head into the guardrail. Lawler gives Mankind a piledriver on the floor and rolls in hoping for a count out. Mankind makes it back in. Lawler gives him another piledriver and a cocky pin means Mankind kicks out. Mankind favoring the neck a lot in this match. Lawler tries a sunset flip but Mankind catches him with the mandible claw and wins it. One of the better Lawler matches in his WWF career, and he even broke out a dropkick!"

Lawler puts in a very old fashioned heel performance controlling most of the match and repeatedly using the brass knucks hidden in his tights. Foley takes a few good bumps on the outside but for the most part didn't look very inspired. Not very good."
