Lord Steven Regal vs. Shinya Hashimoto

[7.0] "The unheralded sequel to Hashimoto and Regal's 1995 slugfest, this falls a little short of that original's lofty heights. However, this does sport a distinct personality that makes it memorable in its own way, with Regal's heart winning over Korakuen Hall down the stretch. Otherwise, it's more of the same without catching fire to the same degree, with prickly physicality throughout. That grit is accompanied by Regal's always brilliant detail work, again giving this dynamic a wonderful tactical flavour. ***1/2"

[8.0] "The forgotten rematch between the two and it makes sense because this isnt as good as their 1995 classic but its a great match filled with great grappling, led by Regal, and tons of stiff strikes, led by Hashimoto. The match changed between the two but both sections were compelling and got over in front of the intimate Korakuen Hall crowd, who even chanted for Regal towards the end. There were even some fighting spirit spots by Regal which was a shock considering that hadnt been the norm yet. It was different for everyone involved. Hashimoto wins with his DDT but Regal gets a lot out of this. ****"
