Candice LeRae vs. Io Shirai

The first three matches on that show didn't made the gave much attention to everything here, but this one in specific was good. Actually, the things that bothered me the most here are related with Johnny Gargano. Again, wrestling need to make sense, be logic, it is pretty simple. Why Johnny appeared as a referee, why this is somehow happening, he just lost his match at like one hour ago. Anyway, the ref bump was good and the spots looked nice, great 3.75 match I guess."

[8.0] "Wowww what a rivalry Iyo and Candice Lerae had in Nxt. After watching the series of matches they had I cant believe Candice wasnt the one to dethrone Iyo for the Nxt title. Makes the match they had for the speed title even more bittersweet (yeah its non canon to the main roster stuff I know)""

[9.0] "It's the weakest of all the singles matches that these two women have had, but it's still an amazing match with the roles reversed with LeRae being the heel and Shirai being the babyface and Gargano pretending to be the referee was actually funny unlike other matches that played that stick."

[8.0] "Definitely not better than their other matches but still very good, Io looks super strong here, ref bump allowing Lerae to get the upper hand but still fights back. I wish the match went on a bit longer after the title shot to the face because she was not down very long at all but still really solid stuff here. 7.5/10"

[8.0] "This was a good match, maybe the weakest of their big matches together. However, that's just the very high bar these two set with one another. Still a very good match regardless."

[4.0] "Was just a fine match that maybe could have kicked into another gear but instead they opted for a bunch of interference gags."

[8.0] "Io & Candice tore the house down at Toronto so they did there again ! Technical & athletic it went with a bunch of fun moves executed, Candice proved once again she? s really a remarkable wrestler capable of making the show and with Io involved as well it only can be so good !"

[8.0] "Very good match. Girls were not holding back. They gave everything they got. I know both girls from the promotions they used to work before signing to WWE. Candice was doing hell of a great job in PWG and Io is already a legend of Stardom."

[7.0] "A good match but not as good as their PPV match from last year that didn't have nearly as much riding on it. I could've gone without the run-in stuff, but I know that's not going to happen. At least the run-in didn't directly lead to the finish, which could've ruined this fine match. ***1/2"

[8.0] "A really great match between these two very talented women. Not better than their first meeting but still a very appreciable performance by both women. Candice dominated the start of the match however Io got the better in the second half . I liked how Io kicked out both times even at the time when Gargano came out as the refree. In the end Io proved to be the better competitor who pinned her with the moonsault. ****1/4."

[5.0] "Most boring Io Shirai's title match ever. For some reasons, Candice LeRae plays in Johnny Gargano in the ring and completely killed the pace in the match. Rare outbreaks of Io's attacks saved this match from the status of "flop", but at the same time, the status of "average" clearly does not paint most taleneted women of this generation."

[6.0] "Pretty solid but overall nothing special. Io didnt look special. The match was overbooked but entertaining, still served no purpose at the end which protects the win but also makes it uneventful and a waste. So all in all, entertaining but not much more."

[10.0] "Shirai vs LeRae was the best women match I've ever seen and I mean it. It kept me on the edge of my seat during the whole match, everything was well executed, the spots looked amazing. Johnny Gargano's interference was perfect for the story and psychology of the match, I really thought Candice was going to win. 5* for me, both women were perfect : their offense, their selling, their acting and the pace they gave to this match"

[7.0] "Not as good as the Toronto match. I have two major pet peeves with this match, I don't like Io being dominated for such a long portion of the match, I think it only disminishes the match quality given her offensive style (It fits better to somebody like Asuka given her insane ability for counters), and I'm tired of ref bumps in NXT TakeOvers, even more when it happens consecutive times to the same wrestler, keep them rare."

[10.0] "Hands down one of the best matches of the night next to Balor/KOR. A match that kept me interested and excited from beginning to end. Loved the near falls throughout, especially when Gargano came down for the count and Io STILL kicked out! Then another near fall shortly after. These two really gave it their all and I believe it was as good as their previous singles match, maybe even better. Big props to everyone involved in this match!"

[8.0] "Not as good as their previous singles match but still a banger. Intense action and riveting until the end."

[7.0] "The kind of a pairing that you can always trust to have a rock solid, strong match. They did exactly that here -- had a good match with everything looking good. Candice's big heat segment was solid, as she made every move look great, and Io's eventual big comeback & the more 50-50 that followed was solid stuff, as well. SOLID really is the keyword here, because that's what this match truly was. Rock solid."

[7.0] "This could have been great. It was well paced and well executed with very good counters and and equally good exchange sequence. Initially I thought Le Rae would not just be as good of a heel as she was a face but my fears were unfounded as heel Candice Le Rae was really good with a very methodical mannerism and just toying and insulting Shirai. As the match really started to click into that next gear, a referee bump occurred and it was still good but when the second one occurred, Johnny Gargano came in as a referee and things just got silly and stupid from there. Post angle and Ember Moon is HERE! . Ember Moon is BACK! . Going back to the match, it was just way overbooked although it was still a good match. ***3/4"

[7.0] "I preferred their TakeOver match in Toronto with the reverse roles: Io as heel and Candice as face. The match is pleasant, but it is clear that they are fighting waiting for a specific moment, which then turns out to be the final overbooking, which somewhat it curbs interest in the match. However, the two of them are good and would not make a bad match even if they wanted to."

[8.0] "Well-paced, well done match between two women who have great chemistry together. It wasn't as good as their last Takeover match, but it was still terrific. ****"

[9.0] "To be honest, it was the best women's match I've seen in a years! Excellent work from both Io and Candice. ****1/2"

[6.0] "Once again just like their last outing, I feel like I'm not seeing something that everyone else here is. Candice and Io seem to have no chemistry together in the ring and can't seem to be on the same page. The pace was lethargic, and there seemed to be a fair bit of miscommunication on when to shift the momentum and go to certain spots. A solid match for sure (and helped with the Johnny run-in to give the match some flavour), but didn't stand out as anything more than what you'd see on TV on any given week. 3 stars, and that's being generous."

[9.0] "Kind of questionable finish but the match up to the that point was incredible. Io shirai is one of the best going and this match made that clear. Despite the wonk finish it did make Io look really strong and makes the eventual match between her and ember moon really exciting."

[9.0] "This was great! It's obviously not on par with their match last year, but they did amazing here too. They have great chemistry together and it showed. The only thing I didn't like was the interference by Johnny, but they also played that great to get to the finish sequence where Io looked AWESOME. Great match. ****"

[7.0] "Liked this but the ending was a bit much. There were some great moments but it was also somewhat unmemorable."

[7.0] "Good match, but not great, and certainly not on the same level as their Takeover match from last year. Candice kinda dictated the pace here, and her work on top was good, but it left me wanting more (or better, I guess). The ending was kinda funny. ***1/2"

[8.0] "The weakest of Io's latest big matches (weaker than Vs Shotzi, Dakota, Sasha or Tegan) but this was still really good. The ending bit was extremely overbooked but the right person won. Io and Candice had some good exchanges and callbacks and in the end, Io wouldn't be kept down. The post match returns of Toni and Ember were really cool as well. ***3/4."
