[4.0] "For me this was the best match of the night, but that isn't saying much... it really isn't saying much at all. I thought both wrestlers played to their strengths in an inoffensive way; energetic underdog vs big beast of a man. Simple premise to get behind. It was clumsy and slow but I didn't particularly mind it. One thing however is the fact that I don't think this match did either wrestler any good, it undermined Papa Shango a tad, and didn't serve Backlund much good either."
[3.0] "Backlund basically just rolled him up and won after getting his ass beat for 6 minutes, and Shango's offense was pretty unconvincing. There's not much else to mention about it. *1/2"
[2.0] "My question is how does a match that isn't quite 7 minutes long feel like it takes a calendar year? I guess you throw 1993 Babyface Bob Backlund in there against Papa Shango. Shango was terrible when he was Shango, and Backlund's old school 80s meat and potatoes wrestling doesn't mesh well with a cartoon monster heel who does interminably long holds and clubbing blows. Kill me."
[1.0] "I think it was the longest 7 minutes of my life. It's just an unbearably boring sight. Throughout the fight, Shango choked his opponent with headlocks. If there was something besides them, it looked so clumsy that I dont even have words. As a result, Backlund simply reduced the opponent to 3. And why did we suffer so much, you ask? Not even a complaint about the lack of structure, and the like, but in general they showed us nothing. The entire fight is dominated by one huge man who has two techniques in his arsenal, and the victory is won by the second, who did nothing at all. At the same time, this was not some kind of feud. It's just a vacuum match that doesn't give anyone anything. A wretched sight."
[1.0] "Not much wrestling in the match at the start. This was a very boring match with Shango giving the most generic offense I've ever seen. the finish wasn't very good, either with no offense from Backlund leading to it."
[2.0] "I was so disinterested in this show by the time I got to this match I was only really half paying attention. This was a match with two established guys but only went 6 minutes. I find it interesting that Vince got Backlund back right when he's pushing his newer version of his Backlund type champion in Bret Hart. They've given up up Papa Shango by this point essentially. This was just to give Backlund a "solid win" but was really just a boring 6 minutes of wasted time."
[2.0] "Bob Backlund was doing a lot around this time and I truly do no understand why. This match was just so blah, it felt like a squash match even though both of them are established wrestlers. Just straight up bad and so unnecessary."
[3.0] "It was quite a boring match and felt much longer than it was. WWF had pretty much given up on the Papa Shango character so it should have been a shorter match. [*1/2]"
[2.0] "Shango dominates using the most basic offence and rest holds only for Backlund to sneak the win with a small package against the momentum. A complete waste of time and unbelievably boring."
[4.0] "An adequate enough match. Backlund was still good enough to work around despite being way out of his league at this point, and he pretty much bring the best you can get out of Shango here. [**]"
[3.0] "Shango has to be one of my least favourite wrestlers ever, when he became The Godfather he at least had a character, but he was just awful around this time period. Backlund was also past his prime, but would do more interesting things when he became a heel. Overall a dull match."
[5.0] "An ok match, I quite like Backlund in this run even before he starts getting really great with his heel turn, but you can only do so much with a guy like Papa Shango, who not only bombs in terms of gimmick but isn't very good in the ring at this point."
